Elijah Predicts Drought
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word."1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.1 Elijah, who was from Tishbe but had settled in Gilead, said to Ahab, "I solemnly swear, as the LORD God of Israel whom I serve lives, there will be no dew or rain during the next few years unless I say so."1 Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the foreigners of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As Yahweh, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word."1 And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As Jehovah the God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except by my word.
The word of the LORD came to him, saying,2 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,2 Then the LORD spoke his word to Elijah:2 The word of Yahweh came to him, saying,2 And the word of Jehovah came to him saying,
"Go away from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.3 "Leave here, turn east, and hide beside the Cherith River, which is east of the Jordan River.3 "Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the torrent Cherith, which is before the Jordan.
"It shall be that you will drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there."4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.4 You can drink from the stream, and I've commanded ravens to feed you there."4 It shall be, that you shall drink of the brook. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there."4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the torrent; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.5 So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.5 Elijah left and did what the word of the LORD [had told him]. He went to live by the Cherith River, which is east of the Jordan River.5 So he went and did according to the word of Yahweh; for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.5 And he went and did according to the word of Jehovah; he went and abode by the torrent Cherith, which is before the Jordan.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook.6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.6 Ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and in the evening. And he drank from the stream.6 The ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the torrent.
It happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.7 But after some time the stream dried up because no rain had fallen in the land.7 It happened after a while, that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.7 And it came to pass after a while that the torrent dried up, for there had been no rain in the land.
Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying,8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,8 Then the LORD spoke his word to Elijah:8 The word of Yahweh came to him, saying,8 And the word of Jehovah came to him saying,
"Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there; behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you."9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.9 "Get up, go to Zarephath (which belongs to Sidon), and stay there. I've commanded a widow there to feed you."9 "Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you."9 Arise, go to Zarephath, which is by Zidon, and abide there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to maintain thee.
So he arose and went to Zarephath, and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks; and he called to her and said, "Please get me a little water in a jar, that I may drink."10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.10 He got up and went to Zarephath. As he came to the town's entrance, a widow was gathering wood. He called to her, "Please bring me a drink of water."10 So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks: and he called to her, and said, "Please get me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink."10 And he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the entrance of the city, behold, a widow woman was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, "Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand."11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.11 As she was going to get it, he called to her again, "Please bring me a piece of bread too."11 As she was going to get it, he called to her, and said, "Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand."11 And she went to fetch it, and he called to her and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thy hand.
But she said, "As the LORD your God lives, I have no bread, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks that I may go in and prepare for me and my son, that we may eat it and die."12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.12 She said, "I solemnly swear, as the LORD your God lives, I didn't bake any bread. I have one handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I'm gathering wood. I'm going to prepare something for myself and my son so that we can eat it and then die."12 She said, "As Yahweh your God lives, I don't have a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die."12 And she said, As Jehovah thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse; and behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
Then Elijah said to her, "Do not fear; go, do as you have said, but make me a little bread cake from it first and bring it out to me, and afterward you may make one for yourself and for your son.13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.13 Then Elijah told her, "Don't be afraid. Go home, and do as you've said. But first make a small loaf and bring it to me. Then prepare something for yourself and your son.13 Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid. Go and do as you have said; but make me of it a little cake first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for you and for your son.13 And Elijah said to her, Fear not; go, do as thou hast said; but make me thereof a little cake first; and bring it to me; and afterwards make for thee and for thy son.
"For thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'The bowl of flour shall not be exhausted, nor shall the jar of oil be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the face of the earth.'"14 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.14 This is what the LORD God of Israel says: Until the LORD sends rain on the land, the jar of flour will never be empty and the jug will always contain oil."14 For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, 'The jar of meal shall not empty, neither shall the jar of oil fail, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.'"14 For thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel: The meal in the barrel shall not waste, neither shall the oil in the cruse fail, until the day that Jehovah sendeth rain upon the face of the earth!
So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and she and he and her household ate for many days.15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.15 She did what Elijah had told her. So she, Elijah, and her family had food for a long time.15 She went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, ate [many] days.15 And she went and did according to the word of Elijah; and she, and he, and her house, ate a whole year.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
The bowl of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke through Elijah.16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.16 The jar of flour never became empty, and the jug always contained olive oil, as the LORD had promised through Elijah.16 The jar of meal didn't empty, neither did the jar of oil fail, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke by Elijah.16 The meal in the barrel did not waste, neither did the oil in the cruse fail, according to the word of Jehovah which he had spoken through Elijah.
Elijah Raises the Widow’s Son
Now it came about after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.17 Afterwards, the son of the woman who owned the house got sick. He got so sick that finally no life was left in him.17 It happened after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so severe, that there was no breath left in him.17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.
So she said to Elijah, "What do I have to do with you, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my iniquity to remembrance and to put my son to death!"18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?18 The woman asked Elijah, "What do you and I have in common, man of God? Did you come here to remind me of my sin and kill my son?" 18 She said to Elijah, "What have I to do with you, you man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to memory, and to kill my son!"18 And she said to Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come to me to call mine iniquity to remembrance, and to slay my son?
He said to her, "Give me your son." Then he took him from her bosom and carried him up to the upper room where he was living, and laid him on his own bed.19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.19 He said to her, "Give me your son." Elijah took him from her arms, carried him to the upstairs room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed.19 He said to her, "Give me your son." He took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the room where he stayed, and laid him on his own bed.19 And he said to her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the upper chamber where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
He called to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, have You also brought calamity to the widow with whom I am staying, by causing her son to die?"20 And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?20 Then he called to the LORD, "LORD my God, have you brought misery on the widow I'm staying with by killing her son?"20 He cried to Yahweh, and said, "Yahweh my God, have you also brought evil on the widow with whom I stay, by killing her son?"20 And he cried to Jehovah and said, Jehovah, my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Then he stretched himself upon the child three times, and called to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, I pray You, let this child's life return to him."21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again.21 Then Elijah stretched himself over the boy three times and called to the LORD, "LORD my God, please make this child's life return to him."21 He stretched himself on the child three times, and cried to Yahweh, and said, "Yahweh my God, please let this child's soul come into him again."21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried to Jehovah and said, Jehovah, my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again!
The LORD heard the voice of Elijah, and the life of the child returned to him and he revived.22 And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.22 The LORD heard Elijah's request, and the child's life returned to him. He was alive again.22 Yahweh listened to the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.22 And Jehovah heard the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the child came into him again, and he lived.
Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, "See, your son is alive."23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.23 Elijah took the child, brought him down from the upstairs room of the house, and gave him to his mother. He said, "Look! Your son is alive."23 Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the room into the house, and delivered him to his mother; and Elijah said, "Behold, your son lives."23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down from the upper chamber into the house, and delivered him to his mother; and Elijah said, See, thy son lives.
Then the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth."24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.24 The woman said to Elijah, "Now I'm convinced that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is true."24 The woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of Yahweh in your mouth is truth."24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of Jehovah in thy mouth is truth.
