Death Plot and Anointing

1 Now the Passover and Unleavened Bread were two days away; and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to seize Him by stealth and kill Him;1 After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.1 It was two days before the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread. The chief priests and the scribes were looking for some underhanded way to arrest Jesus and to kill him.1 It was now two days before the feast of the Passover and the unleavened bread, and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might seize him by deception, and kill him.1 Now the passover and the feast of unleavened bread was after two days. 2 for they were saying, "Not during the festival, otherwise there might be a riot of the people."2 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.2 However, they said, "We shouldn't arrest him during the festival, or else there will be a riot among the people."2 For they said, "Not during the feast, because there might be a riot of the people."2 For they said, Not in the feast, lest perhaps there be a tumult of the people.
3 While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper, and reclining at the table, there came a woman with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume of pure nard; and she broke the vial and poured it over His head.3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.3 Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon, a man who had suffered from a skin disease. While Jesus was sitting there, a woman went to him. She had a bottle of very expensive perfume made from pure nard. She opened the bottle and poured the perfume on his head.3 While he was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard--very costly. She broke the jar, and poured it over his head.3 And when he was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he lay at table, there came a woman having an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly; and having broken the alabaster flask, she poured it out upon his head.
4 But some were indignantly remarking to one another, "Why has this perfume been wasted?4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?4 Some who were there were irritated and said to one another, "Why was the perfume wasted like this?4 But there were some who were indignant among themselves, saying, "Why has this ointment been wasted?4 And there were some indignant in themselves, and saying, Why has this waste been made of the ointment?
5 "For this perfume might have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor." And they were scolding her.5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.5 This perfume could have been sold for a high price, and the money could have been given to the poor." So they said some very unkind things to her.5 For this might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and given to the poor." 6 But Jesus said, "Let her alone; why do you bother her? She has done a good deed to Me.6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.6 Jesus said, "Leave her alone! Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing for me.6 But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? 7 "For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.7 You will always have the poor with you and can help them whenever you want. 8 "She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial.8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.8 She did what she could. 9 "Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her."9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.9 I can guarantee this truth: Wherever the Good News is spoken in the world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her."9 Most certainly I tell you, wherever this Good News may be preached throughout the whole world, that which this woman has done will also be spoken of for a memorial of her."9 And verily I say unto you, Wheresoever these glad tidings may be preached in the whole world, what this woman has done shall be also spoken of for a memorial of her.

11 They were glad when they heard this, and promised to give him money. The Last Passover

21 "For the Son of Man is to go just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."21 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.21 The Son of Man is going to die as the Scriptures say he will. The Lord’s Supper

31 But Peter kept saying insistently, "Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!" And they all were saying the same thing also.31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Jesus in Gethsemane

Betrayal and Arrest
43 Immediately while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came up accompanied by a crowd with swords and clubs, who were from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.43 And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.43 Just then, while Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve apostles, arrived. A crowd carrying swords and clubs was with him. They were from the chief priests, scribes, and leaders of the people.43 Immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came--and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.43 And immediately, while he was yet speaking, Judas comes up, being one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd, with swords and sticks, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
44 Now he who was betraying Him had given them a signal, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the one; seize Him and lead Him away under guard."44 And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.44 Now, the traitor had given them a signal. He said, "The one I kiss is the man you want. Arrest him, and guard him closely as you take him away."44 Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, "Whoever I will kiss, that is he. Seize him, and lead him away safely."44 Now he that delivered him up had given them a sign between them, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he; seize him, and lead him away safely.
45 After coming, Judas immediately went to Him, saying, "Rabbi!" and kissed Him.45 And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.45 Then Judas quickly stepped up to Jesus and said, "Rabbi!" and kissed him.45 When he had come, immediately he came to him, and said, "Rabbi! Rabbi!" and kissed him.45 And being come, straightway coming up to him, he says, Rabbi, Rabbi; and he covered him with kisses.

59 Not even in this respect was their testimony consistent.59 But neither so did their witness agree together.59 But their testimony did not agree even on this point.59 Even so, their testimony did not agree.59 And neither thus did their testimony agree.
60 The high priest stood up and came forward and questioned Jesus, saying, "Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?"60 And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?60 So the chief priest stood up in the center and asked Jesus, "Don't you have any answer to what these men testify against you?"60 The high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, "Have you no answer? What is it which these testify against you?"60 And the high priest, rising up before them all, asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? What do these testify against thee?

61 But He kept silent and did not answer. Again the high priest was questioning Him, and saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?"61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?61 But he was silent. The chief priest asked him again, "Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?"61 But he stayed quiet, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"61 But he was silent, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and says to him, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
62 And Jesus said, "I am; and you shall see THE SON OF MAN SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, and COMING WITH THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN."62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.62 Jesus answered, "Yes, I am, and you will see the Son of Man in the highest position in heaven. He will be coming with the clouds of heaven."62 Jesus said, "I am. You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of the sky."62 And Jesus said, I am, and ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.
63 Tearing his clothes, the high priest said, "What further need do we have of witnesses?63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?63 The chief priest tore his clothes in horror and said, "Why do we need any more witnesses?63 The high priest tore his clothes, and said, "What further need have we of witnesses?63 And the high priest, having rent his clothes, says, What need have we any more of witnesses?
64 "You have heard the blasphemy; how does it seem to you?" And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.64 You've heard him dishonor God! What's your verdict?" All of them condemned him with the death sentence.64 You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?" They all condemned him to be worthy of death.64 Ye have heard the blasphemy; what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
65 Some began to spit at Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists, and to say to Him, "Prophesy!" And the officers received Him with slaps in the face.65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.65 Some of them began to spit on him. They covered his face and hit him with their fists. They said to him, "Prophesy!" Even the guards took him and slapped him.65 Some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to tell him, "Prophesy!" Peter’s Denials

66 As Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the high priest came,66 And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:66 Peter was in the courtyard. 68 But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are talking about." And he went out onto the porch, and a rooster crowed.68 But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.68 But Peter denied it by saying, "I don't know him, and I don't understand what you're talking about." He went to the entrance. Then a rooster crowed. 68 But he denied it, saying, "I neither know, nor understand what you are saying." He went out on the porch, and the rooster crowed.68 But he denied, saying, I know not nor understand what thou sayest. And he went out into the vestibule; and a cock crew.
69 The servant-girl saw him, and began once more to say to the bystanders, "This is one of them!"69 And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.69 The servant saw him. Once again she said to those who were standing around, "This man is one of them!"69 The maid saw him, and began again to tell those who stood by, "This is one of them."69 And the maid, seeing him, again began to say to those that stood by, This is one of them.
70 But again he denied it. And after a little while the bystanders were again saying to Peter, "Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean too."70 And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.70 Peter again denied it. After a little while the men standing there said to Peter again, "It's obvious you're one of them. You're a Galilean!"70 But he again denied it. After a little while again those who stood by said to Peter, "You truly are one of them, for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it."70 And he again denied. And again, after a little, those that stood by said to Peter, Truly thou art one of them, for also thou art a Galilean.

And he began to weep.72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.72 Just then a rooster crowed a second time. Peter remembered that Jesus said to him, "Before a rooster crows twice, you will say three times that you don't know me." Then Peter began to cry very hard.72 The rooster crowed the second time. Peter remembered the word, how that Jesus said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." When he thought about that, he wept.72 And the second time a cock crew. And Peter remembered the word that Jesus said to him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice; and when he thought thereon he wept.
