Parable of the Marriage Feast
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying,1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,1 Again Jesus used stories as illustrations when he spoke to them. He said,1 Jesus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,1 And Jesus answering spoke to them again in parables, saying,
"The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son.2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,2 "The kingdom of heaven is like a king who planned a wedding for his son.2 "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,
"And he sent out his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding feast, and they were unwilling to come.3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.3 He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the wedding, but they refused to come.3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come.
"Again he sent out other slaves saying, 'Tell those who have been invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fattened livestock are all butchered and everything is ready; come to the wedding feast."'4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.4 He sent other servants to tell the people who had been invited, 'I've prepared dinner. My bulls and fattened calves have been butchered. Everything is ready. Come to the wedding!'4 Again he sent out other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!"'4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast.
"But they paid no attention and went their way, one to his own farm, another to his business,5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:5 "But they paid no attention and went away. Some went to work in their own fields, and others went to their businesses.5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce.

and the rest seized his slaves and mistreated them and killed them.6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.6 The rest grabbed the king's servants, mistreated them, and then killed them.6 and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew them.
"But the king was enraged, and he sent his armies and destroyed those murderers and set their city on fire.7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.7 "The king became angry. He sent his soldiers, killed those murderers, and burned their city.7 When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.7 And when the king heard of it he was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
 "Then he said to his slaves, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.8 "Then the king said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited don't deserve the honor.8 "Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren't worthy.8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy;
Go therefore to the main highways, and as many as you find there, invite to the wedding feast.'9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.9 Go where the roads leave the city. Invite everyone you find to the wedding.'9 Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.'9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast.
"Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered together all they found, both evil and good; and the wedding hall was filled with dinner guests.10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.10 The servants went into the streets and brought in all the good people and all the evil people they found. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.10 Those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
"But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed in wedding clothes,11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:11 "When the king came to see the guests, he saw a person who was not dressed in the wedding clothes [provided for the guests].11 But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn't have on wedding clothing,11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment.
and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes?' And the man was speechless.12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.12 He said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without proper wedding clothes?' "The man had nothing to say.12 and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?' He was speechless.12 And he says to him, My friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless.
"Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.13 Then the king told his servants, 'Tie his hands and feet, and throw him outside into the darkness. People will cry and be in extreme pain there.'13 Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.'13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
"For many are called, but few are chosen."14 For many are called, but few are chosen.14 "Therefore, many are invited, but few of those are chosen to stay."14 For many are called, but few chosen."14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
Tribute to Caesar
Then the Pharisees went and plotted together how they might trap Him in what He said.15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.15 Then the Pharisees went away and planned to trap Jesus into saying the wrong thing.15 Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.15 Then went the Pharisees and held a council how they might ensnare him in speaking.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 And they sent their disciples to Him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and defer to no one; for You are not partial to any.16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.16 They sent their disciples to him along with Herod's followers. They said to him, "Teacher, we know that you tell the truth and that you teach the truth about the way of God. You don't favor individuals because of who they are.16 They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter who you teach, for you aren't partial to anyone.16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men's person;
"Tell us then, what do You think? Is it lawful to give a poll-tax to Caesar, or not?"17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?17 So tell us what you think. Is it right to pay taxes to the emperor or not?"17 Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
But Jesus perceived their malice, and said, "Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites?18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?18 Jesus recognized their evil plan, so he asked, "Why do you test me, you hypocrites?18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, "Why do you test me, you hypocrites?18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites?
"Show Me the coin used for the poll-tax." And they brought Him a denarius.19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.19 Show me a coin used to pay taxes." They brought him a coin.19 Show me the tax money." They brought to him a denarius.19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius.
And He said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?"20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?20 He said to them, "Whose face and name is this?"20 He asked them, "Whose is this image and inscription?"20 And he says to them, Whose is this image and superscription?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
They said to Him, "Caesar's." Then He said to them, "Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's."21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.21 They replied, "The emperor's." Then he said to them, "Very well, give the emperor what belongs to the emperor, and give God what belongs to God."21 They said to him, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."21 They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God.
And hearing this, they were amazed, and leaving Him, they went away.22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.22 They were surprised to hear this. Then they left him alone and went away.22 When they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.22 And when they heard him, they wondered, and left him, and went away.
Jesus Answers the Sadducees
On that day some Sadducees (who say there is no resurrection) came to Jesus and questioned Him,23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,23 On that day some Sadducees, who say that people will never come back to life, came to Jesus. They asked him,23 On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,23 On that day came to him Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they demanded of him,
asking, "Teacher, Moses said, 'IF A MAN DIES HAVING NO CHILDREN, HIS BROTHER AS NEXT OF KIN SHALL MARRY HIS WIFE, AND RAISE UP CHILDREN FOR HIS BROTHER.'24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.24 "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies childless, his brother should marry his widow and have children for his brother.'24 saying, "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.'24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother.
"Now there were seven brothers with us; and the first married and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother;25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:25 There were seven brothers among us. The first married and died. Since he had no children, he left his widow to his brother.25 Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother.25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
so also the second, and the third, down to the seventh.26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.26 The second brother also died, as well as the third, and the rest of the seven brothers.26 In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.
"Last of all, the woman died.27 And last of all the woman died also.27 At last the woman died.27 After them all, the woman died.27 And last of all the woman also died.
"In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had married her."28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.28 Now, when the dead come back to life, whose wife will she be? All seven brothers had been married to her."28 In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her."28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?
But Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God.29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.29 Jesus answered, "You're mistaken because you don't know the Scriptures or God's power.29 But Jesus answered them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.
"For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.30 When people come back to life, they don't marry. Rather, they are like the angels in heaven.30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God's angels in heaven.30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
"But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God:31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,31 Haven't you read what God told you about the dead coming back to life? He said,31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven't you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read what was spoken to you by God, saying,
'I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB '? He is not the God of the dead but of the living."32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.32 'I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.' He's not the God of the dead but of the living."32 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?' God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not God of the dead, but of the living.
When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.33 And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.33 He amazed the crowds who heard his teaching.33 When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.33 And when the crowds heard it they were astonished at his doctrine.
But when the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered themselves together.34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.34 When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.34 But the Pharisees, having heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, were gathered together.
One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him,35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,35 One of them, an expert in Moses' Teachings, tested Jesus by asking,35 One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.35 And one of them, a lawyer, demanded, tempting him, and saying,

"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?"36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?36 "Teacher, which commandment is the greatest in Moses' Teachings?"36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?"36 Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?
And He said to him, "'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.'37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.37 Jesus answered him, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'37 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'37 And he said to him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy understanding.
"This is the great and foremost commandment.38 This is the first and great commandment.38 This is the greatest and most important commandment.38 This is the first and great commandment.38 This is the great and first commandment.
"The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.39 The second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.'39 A second likewise is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'39 And the second is like it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
"On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.40 All of Moses' Teachings and the Prophets depend on these two commandments."40 The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."40 On these two commandments the whole law and the prophets hang.

Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question:41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,41 While the Pharisees were still gathered, Jesus asked them,41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,41 And the Pharisees being gathered together, Jesus demanded of them,
"What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He?" They said to Him, "The son of David."42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.42 "What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?" They answered him, "David's."42 saying, "What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?" They said to him, "Of David."42 saying, What think ye concerning the Christ? whose son is he? They say to him, David's.
He said to them, "Then how does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord,' saying,43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,43 He said to them, "Then how can David, guided by the Spirit, call him Lord? David says,43 He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,43 He says to them, How then does David in Spirit call him Lord, saying,
'THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES BENEATH YOUR FEET "'?44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?44 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Take the highest position in heaven until I put your enemies under your control."'44 'The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?'44 The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand until I put thine enemies under thy feet?
"If David then calls Him 'Lord,' how is He his son?"45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?45 If David calls him Lord, how can he be his son?"45 "If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?"45 If therefore David call him Lord, how is he his son?

No one was able to answer Him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him another question.46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.46 No one could answer him, and from that time on no one dared to ask him another question.46 No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forth.46 And no one was able to answer him a word, nor did any one dare from that day to question him any more.
