Judging Others
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 "Do not judge so that you will not be judged.1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.1 "Stop judging so that you will not be judged.1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged.1 Judge not, that ye may not be judged;
2 "For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.2 Otherwise, you will be judged by the same standard you use to judge others. The standards you use for others will be applied to you.2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.2 for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you.
3 "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?3 So why do you see the piece of sawdust in another believer's eye and not notice the wooden beam in your own eye?3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye?3 But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye?
4 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye?4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?4 How can you say to another believer, 'Let me take the piece of sawdust out of your eye,' when you have a beam in your own eye?4 Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye?4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Allow me, I will cast out the mote from thine eye; and behold, the beam is in thine eye?
5 "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye. Then you will see clearly to remove the piece of sawdust from another believer's eye.5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.5 Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to cast out the mote out of the eye of thy brother.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 "Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.6 "Don't give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls to pigs. Otherwise, they will trample them and then tear you to pieces.6 "Don't give that which is holy to the dogs, neither throw your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.6 Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them with their feet, and turning round rend you.
Prayer and the Golden Rule
7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:7 "Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you.7 "Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you.7 Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.
8 "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.8 Everyone who asks will receive. The one who searches will find, and for the one who knocks, the door will be opened.8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.8 For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.
9 "Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?9 "If your child asks you for bread, would any of you give him a stone?9 Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?9 Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask of him a loaf of bread, will give him a stone;
10 "Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?10 Or if your child asks for a fish, would you give him a snake?10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent?10 and if he ask a fish, will give him a serpent?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?11 Even though you're evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. So how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him?11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!11 If therefore ye, being wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to them that ask of him?
12 "In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.12 "Always do for other people everything you want them to do for you. That is [the meaning of] Moses' Teachings and the Prophets.12 Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.12 Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do ye also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:13 "Enter through the narrow gate because the gate and road that lead to destruction are wide. Many enter through the wide gate.13 "Enter in by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it.13 Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide the gate and broad the way that leads to destruction, and many are they who enter in through it.
14 "For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.14 But the narrow gate and the road that lead to life are full of trouble. Only a few people find the narrow gate.14 How narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life! Few are those who find it.14 For narrow the gate and straitened the way that leads to life, and they are few who find it.
A Tree and Its Fruit
15 "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.15 "Beware of false prophets. They come to you disguised as sheep, but in their hearts they are vicious wolves.15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.15 But beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but within are ravening wolves.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 "You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?16 You will know them by what they produce. "People don't pick grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles, do they?16 By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?16 By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather a bunch of grapes from thorns, or from thistles figs?
17 "So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.17 In the same way every good tree produces good fruit, but a rotten tree produces bad fruit.17 Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit.17 So every good tree produces good fruits, but the worthless tree produces bad fruits.
18 "A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a rotten tree cannot produce good fruit.18 A good tree can't produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruits, nor a worthless tree produce good fruits.
19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.19 Any tree that fails to produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into a fire.19 Every tree that doesn't grow good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.19 Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.
20 "So then, you will know them by their fruits.20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.20 So you will know them by what they produce.20 Therefore, by their fruits you will know them.20 By their fruits then surely ye shall know them.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord!' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the person who does what my Father in heaven wants.21 Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.21 Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that does the will of my Father who is in the heavens.
22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name? Didn't we force out demons and do many miracles by the power and authority of your name?'22 Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?'22 Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through thy name, and through thy name cast out demons, and through thy name done many works of power?
23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.23 Then I will tell them publicly, 'I've never known you. Get away from me, you evil people.'23 Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.'23 and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness.
The Two Foundations
24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:24 "Therefore, everyone who hears what I say and obeys it will be like a wise person who built a house on rock.24 "Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock.24 Whoever therefore hears these my words and does them, I will liken him to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock;
25 "And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.25 Rain poured, and floods came. Winds blew and beat against that house. But it did not collapse, because its foundation was on rock.25 The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn't fall, for it was founded on the rock.25 and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
26 "Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:26 "Everyone who hears what I say but doesn't obey it will be like a foolish person who built a house on sand.26 Everyone who hears these words of mine, and doesn't do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand.26 And every one who hears these my words and does not do them, he shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand;
27 "The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell-- and great was its fall."27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.27 Rain poured, and floods came. Winds blew and struck that house. It collapsed, and the result was a total disaster."27 The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell--and great was its fall."27 and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and its fall was great.
28 When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching;28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:28 When Jesus finished this speech, the crowds were amazed at his teachings.28 It happened, when Jesus had finished saying these things, that the multitudes were astonished at his teaching,28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his doctrine,
29 for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.29 Unlike their scribes, he taught them with authority.29 for he taught them with authority, and not like the scribes.29 for he taught them as having authority, and not as their scribes.
