1 Open your doors, O Lebanon, That a fire may feed on your cedars. | 1 Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars. | 1 Open your doors, Lebanon, so that fire will be able to burn down your cedars. | 1 Open your doors, Lebanon, that the fire may devour your cedars. | 1 Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars. | 2 Wail, O cypress, for the cedar has fallen, Because the glorious trees have been destroyed; Wail, O oaks of Bashan, For the impenetrable forest has come down. | 2 Howl, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is come down. | 2 Cry, cypress trees, because the cedars have fallen and the stately trees have been destroyed. Cry, oak trees of Bashan, because your dense forest has fallen down. | 2 Wail, fir tree, for the cedar has fallen, because the stately ones are destroyed. Wail, you oaks of Bashan, for the strong forest has come down. | 2 Howl, cypress, for the cedar is fallen; because the noble ones are spoiled. Howl, ye oaks of Bashan; for the strong forest is come down. | 3 There is a sound of the shepherds' wail, For their glory is ruined; There is a sound of the young lions' roar, For the pride of the Jordan is ruined. | 3 There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled. | 3 Listen! The shepherds are crying, because their rich pastures are destroyed. Listen! The young lions are roaring, because the lush banks of the Jordan are destroyed. | 3 A voice of the wailing of the shepherds! For their glory is destroyed: a voice of the roaring of young lions! For the pride of the Jordan is ruined. | 3 A voice of howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled. | 4 Thus says the LORD my God, "Pasture the flock doomed to slaughter. | 4 Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter; | 4 This is what the LORD my God says: Take care of the sheep that are about to be slaughtered. | 4 Thus says Yahweh my God: "Feed the flock of slaughter. | 4 Thus saith Jehovah my God: Feed the flock of slaughter, | 5 "Those who buy them slay them and go unpunished, and each of those who sell them says, 'Blessed be the LORD, for I have become rich!' And their own shepherds have no pity on them. | 5 Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich: and their own shepherds pity them not. | 5 Those who buy them will kill them and go unpunished. Those who sell them will say, "Praise the LORD! I've become rich!" Even their own shepherds will have no pity on them. | 5 Their buyers slaughter them, and go unpunished. Those who sell them say, 'Blessed be Yahweh, for I am rich;' and their own shepherds don't pity them. | 5 whose possessors slay them without being held guilty; and they that sell them say, Blessed be Jehovah! for I am become rich; and their own shepherds pity them not. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
6 "For I will no longer have pity on the inhabitants of the land," declares the LORD; "but behold, I will cause the men to fall, each into another's power and into the power of his king; and they will strike the land, and I will not deliver them from their power." | 6 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour's hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them. | 6 The LORD declares, "I will no longer have pity on those who live in the land. I am going to hand the people over to their neighbors and their king, who will crush the land. And I won't rescue any of them from their power." | 6 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land," says Yahweh; "but, behold, I will deliver the men everyone into his neighbor's hand, and into the hand of his king. They will strike the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them." | 6 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith Jehovah, and behold, I will deliver men, every one into his neighbour's hand, and into the hand of his king; and they shall smite the land, and I will not deliver out of their hand. | 7 So I pastured the flock doomed to slaughter, hence the afflicted of the flock. And I took for myself two staffs: the one I called Favor and the other I called Union; so I pastured the flock. | 7 And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock. | 7 So I became the shepherd of the sheep that were to be slaughtered and also of the oppressed sheep. I took two shepherd staffs and named one Favor and the other Unity. And I took care of the sheep. | 7 So I fed the flock of slaughter, especially the oppressed of the flock. I took for myself two staffs. The one I called "Favor," and the other I called "Union," and I fed the flock. | 7 So I fed the flock of slaughter, truly the poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock. | 8 Then I annihilated the three shepherds in one month, for my soul was impatient with them, and their soul also was weary of me. | 8 Three shepherds also I cut off in one month; and my soul lothed them, and their soul also abhorred me. | 8 I got rid of three shepherds in one month. I became impatient with the sheep, and they also became disgusted with me. | 8 I cut off the three shepherds in one month; for my soul was weary of them, and their soul also loathed me. | 8 And I destroyed three shepherds in one month; and my soul was vexed with them, and their soul also loathed me. | 9 Then I said, "I will not pasture you. What is to die, let it die, and what is to be annihilated, let it be annihilated; and let those who are left eat one another's flesh." | 9 Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another. | 9 So I said, "I won't be your shepherd. Let those that are dying die. Let those that are missing stay missing. And let those that are left devour each other." | 9 Then I said, "I will not feed you. That which dies, let it die; and that which is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let those who are left eat each other's flesh." | 9 And I said, I will not feed you: that which dieth, let it die; and that which perisheth let it perish; and let them which are left eat every one the flesh of another. | 10 I took my staff Favor and cut it in pieces, to break my covenant which I had made with all the peoples. | 10 And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people. | 10 Then I took my staff called Favor and broke it in pieces, to break the promise that I had made to all the nations. | 10 I took my staff Favor, and cut it apart, that I might break my covenant that I had made with all the peoples. | 10 And I took my staff, Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the peoples. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
11 So it was broken on that day, and thus the afflicted of the flock who were watching me realized that it was the word of the LORD. | 11 And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD. | 11 So it was broken on that day, and the oppressed among the sheep who were watching me realized that it was the word of the LORD. | 11 It was broken in that day; and thus the poor of the flock that listened to me knew that it was the word of Yahweh. | 11 And it was broken in that day; and so the poor of the flock that gave heed to me knew that it was the word of Jehovah. | 12 I said to them, "If it is good in your sight, give me my wages; but if not, never mind!" So they weighed out thirty shekels of silver as my wages. | 12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. | 12 Then I said to them, "If it's alright with you, pay me my wages. But if it's not, don't." And they paid me my wages-30 pieces of silver. | 12 I said to them, "If you think it best, give me my wages; and if not, keep them." So they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver. | 12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my hire; and if not, forbear. And they weighed for my hire thirty silver-pieces. | 13 Then the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter, that magnificent price at which I was valued by them." So I took the thirty shekels of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the LORD. | 13 And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD. | 13 The LORD told me, "Give it to the potter." So I took the 30 pieces of silver. Such a magnificent price was set by them! I gave the pieces of silver to the potter at the house of the LORD. | 13 Yahweh said to me, "Throw it to the potter, the handsome price that I was valued at by them!" I took the thirty pieces of silver, and threw them to the potter, in the house of Yahweh. | 13 And Jehovah said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prized at by them. And I took the thirty silver-pieces, and cast them to the potter in the house of Jehovah. | 14 Then I cut in pieces my second staff Union, to break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel. | 14 Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel. | 14 Then I broke my second staff, called Unity, in pieces, to break off the brotherhood between Judah and Israel. | 14 Then I cut apart my other staff, even Union, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel. | 14 And I cut asunder mine other staff, Bands, to break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel. | 15 The LORD said to me, "Take again for yourself the equipment of a foolish shepherd. | 15 And the LORD said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd. | 15 Then the LORD said to me, "Use the equipment of a foolish shepherd again. | 15 Yahweh said to me, "Take for yourself yet again the equipment of a foolish shepherd. | 15 And Jehovah said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
16 "For behold, I am going to raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for the perishing, seek the scattered, heal the broken, or sustain the one standing, but will devour the flesh of the fat sheep and tear off their hoofs. | 16 For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces. | 16 I'm about to place a shepherd in the land. He will not take care of those that are dying. He will not search for the young. He will not heal those that have broken their legs or support those that can still stand. But he will eat the meat of the fat animals and tear off their hoofs. | 16 For, behold, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who will not visit those who are cut off, neither will seek those who are scattered, nor heal that which is broken, nor feed that which is sound; but he will eat the flesh of the fat sheep, and will tear their hoofs in pieces. | 16 For behold, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who shall not visit those that are about to perish, neither shall seek that which is strayed away, nor heal that which is wounded, nor feed that which is sound; but he will eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their hoofs in pieces. | 17 "Woe to the worthless shepherd Who leaves the flock! A sword will be on his arm And on his right eye! His arm will be totally withered And his right eye will be blind." | 17 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened. | 17 "How horrible it will be for the foolish shepherd who abandoned the sheep. A sword will strike his arm and his right eye. His arm will be completely withered. His right eye will be completely blind." | 17 Woe to the worthless shepherd who leaves the flock! The sword will be on his arm, and on his right eye. His arm will be completely withered, and his right eye will be totally blinded!" | 17 Woe to the worthless shepherd that leaveth the flock! The sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye; his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye utterly darkened. |
