Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.1 Imitate me as I imitate Christ.1 Be imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.1 Be my imitators, even as I also am of Christ.
Now I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold firmly to the traditions, just as I delivered them to you.2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.2 I praise you for always thinking about me and for carefully following the traditions that I handed down to you.2 Now I praise you, brothers, that you remember me in all things, and hold firm the traditions, even as I delivered them to you.2 Now I praise you, that in all things ye are mindful of me; and that as I have directed you, ye keep the directions.
But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ.3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.3 However, I want you to realize that Christ has authority over every man, a husband has authority over his wife, and God has authority over Christ.3 But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God.3 But I wish you to know that the Christ is the head of every man, but woman's head is the man, and the Christ's head God.
Every man who has something on his head while praying or prophesying disgraces his head.4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.4 Every man who covers his head when he prays or speaks what God has revealed dishonors the one who has authority over him.4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head.4 Every man praying or prophesying, having anything on his head, puts his head to shame.
But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying disgraces her head, for she is one and the same as the woman whose head is shaved.5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.5 Every woman who prays or speaks what God has revealed and has her head uncovered while she speaks dishonors the one who has authority over her. She is like the woman who has her head shaved.5 But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonors her head. For it is one and the same thing as if she were shaved.5 But every woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered puts her own head to shame; for it is one and the same as a shaved woman.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
For if a woman does not cover her head, let her also have her hair cut off; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her cover her head.6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.6 So if a woman doesn't cover her head, she should cut off her hair. If it's a disgrace for a woman to cut off her hair or shave her head, she should cover her head.6 For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.6 For if a woman be not covered, let her hair also be cut off. But if it be shameful to a woman to have her hair cut off or to be shaved, let her be covered.
For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.7 A man should not cover his head. He is God's image and glory. The woman, however, is man's glory.7 For a man indeed ought not to have his head covered, because he is the image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory of the man.7 For man indeed ought not to have his head covered, being God's image and glory; but woman is man's glory.
For man does not originate from woman, but woman from man;8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.8 Clearly, man wasn't made from woman but woman from man.8 For man is not from woman, but woman from man;8 For man is not of woman, but woman of man.
for indeed man was not created for the woman's sake, but woman for the man's sake.9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.9 Man wasn't created for woman but woman for man.9 for neither was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.9 For also man was not created for the sake of the woman, but woman for the sake of the man.
Therefore the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.10 Therefore, a woman should wear something on her head to show she is under [someone's] authority, out of respect for the angels.10 For this cause the woman ought to have authority on her head, because of the angels.10 Therefore ought the woman to have authority on her head, on account of the angels.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
However, in the Lord, neither is woman independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.11 Yet, as believers in the Lord, women couldn't exist without men and men couldn't exist without women.11 Nevertheless, neither is the woman independent of the man, nor the man independent of the woman, in the Lord.11 However, neither is woman without man, nor man without woman, in the Lord.
For as the woman originates from the man, so also the man has his birth through the woman; and all things originate from God.12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.12 As a woman came into existence from a man, so men come into existence by women, but everything comes from God.12 For as woman came from man, so a man also comes through a woman; but all things are from God.12 For as the woman is of the man, so also is the man by the woman, but all things of God.
Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?13 Judge your own situation. Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?13 Judge for yourselves. Is it appropriate that a woman pray to God unveiled?13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman should pray to God uncovered?
Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him,14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?14 Doesn't nature itself teach you that it is disgraceful for a man to have long hair?14 Doesn't even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him?14 Does not even nature itself teach you, that man, if he have long hair, it is a dishonour to him?
but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her for a covering.15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.15 Doesn't it teach you that it is a woman's pride to wear her hair long? Her hair is given to her in place of a covering.15 But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her, for her hair is given to her for a covering.15 But woman, if she have long hair, it is glory to her; for the long hair is given to her in lieu of a veil.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
But if one is inclined to be contentious, we have no other practice, nor have the churches of God.16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.16 If anyone wants to argue about this [they can't, because] we don't have any custom like this-nor do any of the churches of God.16 But if any man seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither do God's assemblies.16 But if any one think to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor the assemblies of God.
But in giving this instruction, I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse.17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.17 I have no praise for you as I instruct you in the following matter: When you gather, it results in more harm than good.17 But in giving you this command, I don't praise you, that you come together not for the better but for the worse.17 But in prescribing to you on this which I now enter on, I do not praise, namely, that ye come together, not for the better, but for the worse.
For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that divisions exist among you; and in part I believe it.18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.18 In the first place, I hear that when you gather as a church you split up into opposing groups. I believe some of what I hear.18 For first of all, when you come together in the assembly, I hear that divisions exist among you, and I partly believe it.18 For first, when ye come together in assembly, I hear there exist divisions among you, and I partly give credit to it.
For there must also be factions among you, so that those who are approved may become evident among you.19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.19 Factions have to exist in order to make it clear who the genuine believers among you are.19 For there also must be factions among you, that those who are approved may be revealed among you.19 For there must also be sects among you, that the approved may become manifest among you.
Therefore when you meet together, it is not to eat the Lord's Supper,20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.20 When you gather in the same place, you can't possibly be eating the Lord's Supper.20 When therefore you assemble yourselves together, it is not the Lord's supper that you eat.20 When ye come therefore together into one place, it is not to eat the Lord's supper.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
for in your eating each one takes his own supper first; and one is hungry and another is drunk.21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.21 Each of you eats his own supper [without waiting for each other]. So one person goes hungry and another gets drunk.21 For in your eating each one takes his own supper first. One is hungry, and another is drunken.21 For each one in eating takes his own supper before others, and one is hungry and another drinks to excess.
What! Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this I will not praise you.22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.22 Don't you have homes in which to eat and drink? Do you despise God's church and embarrass people who don't have anything to eat? What can I say to you? Should I praise you? I won't praise you for this.22 What, don't you have houses to eat and to drink in? Or do you despise God's assembly, and put them to shame who don't have? What shall I tell you? Shall I praise you? In this I don't praise you.22 Have ye not then houses for eating and drinking? or do ye despise the assembly of God, and put to shame them who have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you? In this point I do not praise.
The Lord’s Supper
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread;23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:23 After all, I passed on to you what I had received from the Lord. On the night he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread23 For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread.23 For I received from the Lord, that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus, in the night in which he was delivered up, took bread,
and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me."24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.24 and spoke a prayer of thanksgiving. He broke the bread and said, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me."24 When he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "Take, eat. This is my body, which is broken for you. Do this in memory of me."24 and having given thanks broke it, and said, This is my body, which is for you: this do in remembrance of me.
In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.25 When supper was over, he did the same with the cup. He said, "This cup is the new promise made with my blood. Every time you drink from it, do it to remember me." 25 In the same way he also took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink, in memory of me."25 In like manner also the cup, after having supped, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood: this do, as often as ye shall drink it, in remembrance of me.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.26 Every time you eat this bread and drink from this cup, you tell about the Lord's death until he comes.26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.26 For as often as ye shall eat this bread, and drink the cup, ye announce the death of the Lord, until he come.
Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.27 Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks from the Lord's cup in an improper way will be held responsible for the Lord's body and blood.27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks the Lord's cup in a way unworthy of the Lord will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.27 So that whosoever shall eat the bread, or drink the cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty in respect of the body and of the blood of the Lord.
But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.28 With this in mind, individuals must determine whether what they are doing is proper when they eat the bread and drink from the cup.28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.28 But let a man prove himself, and thus eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.
For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.29 Anyone who eats and drinks is eating and drinking a judgment against himself when he doesn't recognize the Lord's body.29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy way eats and drinks judgment to himself, if he doesn't discern the Lord's body.29 For the eater and drinker eats and drinks judgment to himself, not distinguishing the body.
For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep.30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.30 This is the reason why many of you are weak and sick and quite a number [of you] have died.30 For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.30 On this account many among you are weak and infirm, and a good many are fallen asleep.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged.31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.31 If we were judging ourselves correctly, we would not be judged.31 For if we discerned ourselves, we wouldn't be judged.31 But if we judged ourselves, so were we not judged.
But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.32 But when the Lord judges us, he disciplines us so that we won't be condemned along with the rest of the world.32 But when we are judged, we are punished by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.32 But being judged, we are disciplined of the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.33 Therefore, brothers and sisters, when you gather to eat, wait for each other.33 Therefore, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.33 So that, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, wait for one another.
If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you will not come together for judgment. The remaining matters I will arrange when I come.34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.34 Whoever is hungry should eat at home so that you don't have a gathering that brings judgment on you. I will give directions concerning the other matters when I come.34 But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest your coming together be for judgment. The rest I will set in order whenever I come.34 If any one be hungry, let him eat at home, that ye may not come together for judgment. But the other things, whenever I come, I will set in order.
