7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, "THE PEOPLE SAT DOWN TO EAT AND DRINK, AND STOOD UP TO PLAY."7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.7 So don't worship false gods as some of them did, as Scripture says, "The people sat down to a feast which turned into an orgy."7 Neither be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."7 Neither be ye idolaters, as some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.
8 Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day.8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.8 We shouldn't sin sexually as some of them did. 13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.13 There isn't any temptation that you have experienced which is unusual for humans. God, who faithfully keeps his promises, will not allow you to be tempted beyond your power to resist. But when you are tempted, he will also give you the ability to endure the temptation as your way of escape.13 No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.13 No temptation has taken you but such as is according to man's nature; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able to bear, but will with the temptation make the issue also, so that ye should be able to bear it.

16 Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ?16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?16 When we bless the cup of blessing aren't we sharing in the blood of Christ? 19 What do I mean then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?19 Do I mean that an offering made to a false god is anything, or that a false god itself is anything?19 What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?19 What then do I say? that what is sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?
20 No, but I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not want you to become sharers in demons.20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.20 Hardly! What I am saying is that these sacrifices which people make are made to demons and not to God. I don't want you to be partners with demons.20 But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I don't desire that you would have fellowship with demons.20 But that what the nations sacrifice they sacrifice to demons, and not to God. Now I do not wish you to be in communion with demons.

21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.21 You cannot drink the Lord's cup and the cup of demons. 24 Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor.24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.24 People should be concerned about others and not just about themselves.24 Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor's good.24 Let no one seek his own advantage, but that of the other.
25 Eat anything that is sold in the meat market without asking questions for conscience' sake;25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:25 Eat anything that is sold in the market without letting your conscience trouble you.25 Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,25 Everything sold in the shambles eat, making no inquiry for conscience sake.

26 FOR THE EARTH IS THE LORD'S, AND ALL IT CONTAINS.26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.26 Certainly, "The earth is the Lord's and everything it contains is his."26 for "the earth is the Lord's, and its fullness."26 For the earth is the Lord's and its fulness.

28 But if anyone says to you, "This is meat sacrificed to idols," do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for conscience' sake;28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:28 However, if someone says to you, "This was sacrificed to a god," don't eat it because of the one who informed you and because of conscience.28 But if anyone says to you, "This was offered to idols," don't eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For "the earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness."28 But if any one say to you, This is offered to holy purposes, do not eat, for his sake that pointed it out, and conscience sake;
29 I mean not your own conscience, but the other man's; for why is my freedom judged by another's conscience?29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?29 I'm not talking about your conscience but the other person's conscience. Why should my freedom be judged by someone else's conscience?29 Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other's conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?29 but conscience, I mean, not thine own, but that of the other: for why is my liberty judged by another conscience?
30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I slandered concerning that for which I give thanks?30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?30 If I give thanks to God for the food I eat, why am I condemned for that?30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for that for which I give thanks?30 If I partake with thanksgiving, why am I spoken evil of for what I give thanks for?
