| 1 For you yourselves know, brethren, that our coming to you was not in vain, | 1 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain: | 1 You know, brothers and sisters, that our time with you was not wasted. | 1 For you yourselves know, brothers, our visit to you wasn't in vain, | 1 For ye know yourselves, brethren, our entering in which we had to you, that it has not been in vain; | 2 but after we had already suffered and been mistreated in Philippi, as you know, we had the boldness in our God to speak to you the gospel of God amid much opposition. | 2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention. | 2 As you know, we suffered rough and insulting treatment in Philippi. | 11 just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, | 11 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, | 11 You know very well that we treated each of you the way a father treats his children. We comforted you and encouraged you. Instead, you accepted it for what it really is-the word of God. This word is at work in you believers. | 13 For this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when you received from us the word of the message of God, you accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also works in you who believe. | 13 And for this cause we also give thanks to God unceasingly that, having received the word of the report of God by us, ye accepted, not men's word, but, even as it is truly, God's word, which also works in you who believe. | 14 For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you also endured the same sufferings at the hands of your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews, | 14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: | 14 You, brothers and sisters, were like the churches of God in Judea that are united with Christ Jesus. You suffered the same persecutions from the people of your own country as those churches did from the Jews | 14 For you, brothers, became imitators of the assemblies of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus; for you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews; | 14 For ye, brethren, have become imitators of the assemblies of God which are in Judaea in Christ Jesus; for ye also have suffered the same things of your own countrymen as also they of the Jews, | 15 who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out. They are not pleasing to God, but hostile to all men, | 15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: | 15 who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and who have persecuted us severely. They are displeasing to God. | 16 hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved; with the result that they always fill up the measure of their sins. But wrath has come upon them to the utmost. | 16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost. | 16 because they try to keep us from telling people who are not Jewish how they can be saved.
