| 6 For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, | 6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; | 6 Certainly, it is right for God to give suffering to those who cause you to suffer. | 6 Since it is a righteous thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you, | 6 if at least it is a righteous thing with God to render tribulation to those that trouble you, | 7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, | 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, | 7 It is also right for God to give all of us relief from our suffering. He will do this when the Lord Jesus is revealed, [coming] from heaven with his mighty angels in a blazing fire. | 7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, | 7 and to you that are troubled repose with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven, with the angels of his power, | 8 dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. | 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: | 8 He will take revenge on those who refuse to acknowledge God and on those who refuse to respond to the Good News about our Lord Jesus. | 8 giving vengeance to those who don't know God, and to those who don't obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus, | 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who know not God, and those who do not obey the glad tidings of our Lord Jesus Christ; | 9 These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, | 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; | 9 They will pay the penalty by being destroyed forever, by being separated from the Lord's presence and from his glorious power. | 9 who will pay the penalty: eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might, | 9 who shall pay the penalty of everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his might, | 10 when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed-- for our testimony to you was believed. | 10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. | 10 [This will happen] on that day when he comes to be honored among all his holy people and admired by all who have believed in him. | 11 To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, | 11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: | 11 With this in mind, we always pray that our God will make you worthy of his call.
