Parable of the Boiling Pot
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
And the word of the LORD came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, saying,1 Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,1 On the tenth day of the tenth month in the ninth year, the LORD spoke his word to me. He said,1 Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth [day] of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,1 And in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
"Son of man, write the name of the day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.2 Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.2 "Son of man, write down today's date. The king of Babylon has surrounded Jerusalem this very day.2 Son of man, write the name of the day, [even] of this same day: the king of Babylon drew close to Jerusalem this same day.2 Son of man, write thee the name of the day, of this selfsame day: on this selfsame day the king of Babylon draws near to Jerusalem.
"Speak a parable to the rebellious house and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Put on the pot, put it on and also pour water in it;3 And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:3 Tell these rebellious people a story. Tell them, 'This is what the Almighty LORD says: Put the pot on the fire; put it on. Pour water in it.3 Utter a parable to the rebellious house, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:3 And propose a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Set on the pot, set it on, and also pour water into it.
Put in it the pieces, Every good piece, the thigh and the shoulder; Fill it with choice bones.4 Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.4 Cut the meat into pieces, all the best pieces, the thigh and shoulder. Fill the pot with the meatiest bones4 gather its pieces into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.4 Gather the pieces thereof into it, every good piece, the thigh and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones:
"Take the choicest of the flock, And also pile wood under the pot. Make it boil vigorously. Also seethe its bones in it."5 Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.5 selected from the best sheep. Pile wood under the pot. Bring the mixture in the pot to a boil. Cook the bones that are in it well.5 Take the choice of the flock, and also a pile [of wood] for the bones under [the caldron]; make it boil well; yes, let its bones be boiled in its midst.5 take the choice of the flock; and also put a pile of wood under it, for the bones; make it boil well, and let the bones of it seethe therein.

'Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, "Woe to the bloody city, To the pot in which there is rust And whose rust has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, Without making a choice.6 Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.6 " 'This is what the Almighty LORD says: How horrible it will be for that city of murderers, for that tarnished pot. Its tarnish will not come off. Empty the meat out of it piece by piece without choosing any particular piece.6 Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the bloody city, to the caldron whose rust is therein, and whose rust is not gone out of it! take out of it piece after piece; No lot is fallen on it.6 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose rust is therein, and whose rust is not gone out of it! Bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it:
"For her blood is in her midst; She placed it on the bare rock; She did not pour it on the ground To cover it with dust.7 For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;7 Blood is still in that city. The blood was poured on a bare rock. It wasn't poured on the ground where dust would cover it.7 For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it on the bare rock; she didn't pour it on the ground, to cover it with dust.7 for her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust.
"That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have put her blood on the bare rock, That it may not be covered."8 That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.8 In order to stir up my fury so that I would pay that city back, I put the blood of its victims on a bare rock. Now that blood can't be covered.8 That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood on the bare rock, that it should not be covered.8 That it might cause fury to come up to execute vengeance, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered.
'Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, "Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.9 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.9 " 'This is what the Almighty LORD says: How horrible it will be for that city of murderers. I, too, will pile the wood high.9 Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.9 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.
"Heap on the wood, kindle the fire, Boil the flesh well And mix in the spices, And let the bones be burned.10 Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.10 Pile it high, and light the fire. Cook the meat thoroughly, stir the mixture, and let the bones burn.10 Heap on the wood, make the fire hot, boil well the flesh, and make thick the broth, and let the bones be burned.10 Heap on the wood, kindle the fire, boil thoroughly the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.

"Then set it empty on its coals So that it may be hot And its bronze may glow And its filthiness may be melted in it, Its rust consumed.11 Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.11 Then set the empty pot on the coals so that it gets hot and its copper glows. Its impurities will melt away, and its tarnish will burn off.11 Then set it empty on its coals, that it may be hot, and its brass may burn, and that its filthiness may be molten in it, that its rust may be consumed.11 Then set it empty upon its coals, that it may be hot, and the brass of it may burn, and that its filthiness may be molten in it, and that its rust may be consumed.
"She has wearied Me with toil, Yet her great rust has not gone from her; Let her rust be in the fire!12 She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.12 " 'I have worn myself out trying to clean this pot. Even the fire can't take away its thick tarnish.12 She has wearied [herself] with toil; yet her great rust doesn't go forth out of her; her rust doesn't [go forth] by fire.12 She hath exhausted her labours, yet her great rust goeth not forth out of her: let her rust be in the fire.
"In your filthiness is lewdness. Because I would have cleansed you, Yet you are not clean, You will not be cleansed from your filthiness again Until I have spent My wrath on you.13 In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.13 I tried to clean you of your filthy lust, but you wouldn't clean yourself from your filth. You will never be clean until I unleash my fury on you.13 In your filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed you and you weren't cleansed, you shall not be cleansed from your filthiness any more, until I have caused my wrath toward you to rest.13 In thy filthiness is lewdness, for I have purged thee, and thou art not pure. Thou shalt no more be purged from thy filthiness, till I have satisfied my fury upon thee.
"I, the LORD, have spoken; it is coming and I will act. I will not relent, and I will not pity and I will not be sorry; according to your ways and according to your deeds I will judge you," declares the Lord GOD.'"14 I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.14 I, the LORD, have spoken. It will happen, and I will do it. I will not ignore you, pity you, or change my plans. I will punish you because of the way you lived and because of everything you have done,' " declares the Almighty LORD.14 I, Yahweh, have spoken it: it shall happen, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to your ways, and according to your doings, shall they judge you, says the Lord Yahweh.14 I Jehovah have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, nor will I repent. According to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.

"Son of man, behold, I am about to take from you the desire of your eyes with a blow; but you shall not mourn and you shall not weep, and your tears shall not come.16 Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.16 "Son of man, with one blow I'm going to take away from you the person you love the most. But you must not mourn, cry, or let tears run down your face.16 Son of man, behold, I will take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke: yet you shall neither mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears run down.16 Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke; yet thou shalt not mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
"Groan silently; make no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban and put your shoes on your feet, and do not cover your mustache and do not eat the bread of men."17 Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.17 Groan silently. Don't grieve for the person who dies. Tie on your turban, and put on your sandals. Don't cover your face or eat the food that mourners eat."17 Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind your headdress on you, and put your shoes on your feet, and don't cover your lips, and don't eat men's bread.17 Sigh in silence, make no mourning for the dead; bind thy turban upon thee, and put thy sandals upon thy feet, and cover not the beard, and eat not the bread of men.
So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. And in the morning I did as I was commanded.18 So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.18 So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I was ordered.18 So I spoke to the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.18 And I spoke unto the people in the morning; and at even my wife died. And I did in the morning as I was commanded.
The people said to me, "Will you not tell us what these things that you are doing mean for us?"19 And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?19 The people asked me, "Tell us, what do these things that you are doing mean to us?"19 The people said to me, Won't you tell us what these things are to us, that you do so?19 And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, which thou doest?
Then I said to them, "The word of the LORD came to me saying,20 Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,20 I told them, "The LORD spoke his word to me. He said,20 Then I said to them, The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,20 And I said to them, The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

'Speak to the house of Israel, "Thus says the Lord GOD, 'Behold, I am about to profane My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes and the delight of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom you have left behind will fall by the sword.21 Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.21 'Tell the nation of Israel, "This is what the Almighty LORD says: I'm going to dishonor my holy place. You brag that my holy place gives you strength. It's the thing you love the most. It's your hearts' desire. So the sons and daughters that you left behind will die in battle.21 Speak to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pities; and your sons and your daughters whom you have left behind shall fall by the sword.21 Say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and your soul's longing; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword.
 You will do as I have done; you will not cover your mustache and you will not eat the bread of men.22 And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.22 Then you must do as I did. Don't cover your faces or eat the food that mourners eat.22 You shall do as I have done: you shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.22 And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover the beard, neither eat the bread of men;
'Your turbans will be on your heads and your shoes on your feet. You will not mourn and you will not weep, but you will rot away in your iniquities and you will groan to one another.23 And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.23 Leave your turbans on your heads and your sandals on your feet. Don't grieve or cry! You will waste away because of your guilt and groan to one another.23 Your tires shall be on your heads, and your shoes on your feet: you shall not mourn nor weep; but you shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another.23 and your turbans shall be upon your heads, and your sandals upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall waste away in your iniquities and moan one toward another.
'Thus Ezekiel will be a sign to you; according to all that he has done you will do; when it comes, then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.'"24 Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.24 Ezekiel is a sign to you. You will do everything he has done. Then you will know that I am the Almighty LORD."'24 Thus Ezekiel shall be a sign to you; according to all that he has done, you will do. When this comes, then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.24 Thus Ezekiel shall be unto you a sign; according to all that he hath done shall ye do: when it cometh, then ye shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah.
As for you, son of man, will it not be on the day when I take from them their stronghold, the joy of their pride, the desire of their eyes and their heart's delight, their sons and their daughters,25 Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,25 "Son of man, on that day I will take their stronghold away from them. It makes them happy and proud. It is their hearts' desire and the thing they love the most. I will also take away their sons and daughters.25 You, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sons and their daughters,25 And thou, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereunto they lift up their soul, their sons and their daughters,

that on that day he who escapes will come to you with information for your ears?26 That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?26 On that day a refugee will come to you to tell you the news.26 that in that day he who escapes shall come to you, to cause you to hear it with your ears?26 that in that day he that escapeth shall come unto thee, to cause thine ears to hear it?
'On that day your mouth will be opened to him who escaped, and you will speak and be mute no longer. Thus you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the LORD.'"27 In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.27 On that very day your mouth will be opened, and you will talk to the refugee. You will speak and not be silent anymore. You will be a sign to them. Then they will know that I am the LORD."27 In that day your mouth will be opened to him who has escaped, and you shall speak, and be no more mute: so you will be a sign to them; and they shall know that I am Yahweh.27 In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him that is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb. So shalt thou be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.
