Prophecies about Babylon
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 The oracle concerning Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.1 This is the divine revelation which Isaiah, son of Amoz, saw about Babylon.1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw:1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.
2 Lift up a standard on the bare hill, Raise your voice to them, Wave the hand that they may enter the doors of the nobles.2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.2 Raise a banner on the bare mountaintop. Call loudly to them. Signal them with your hand to enter the nobles' gates.2 Set up a banner on the bare mountain! Lift up your voice to them! Wave your hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.2 Lift up a banner upon a bare mountain, raise the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles.
3 I have commanded My consecrated ones, I have even called My mighty warriors, My proudly exulting ones, To execute My anger.3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.3 I've commanded my holy ones. I've called my mighty men to carry out my anger. They find joy in my triumphs.3 I have commanded my consecrated ones; yes, I have called my mighty men for my anger, even my proudly exulting ones.3 I have commanded my hallowed ones, I have also called my mighty men for mine anger, them that rejoice in my highness.
4 A sound of tumult on the mountains, Like that of many people! A sound of the uproar of kingdoms, Of nations gathered together! The LORD of hosts is mustering the army for battle.4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.4 Listen to the noise on the mountains. It is like the sound of a large army. It is the sound of kingdoms and nations gathering together. The LORD of Armies is assembling his army for battle.4 The noise of a multitude is in the mountains, as of a great people; the noise of an uproar of the kingdoms of the nations gathered together! Yahweh of Armies is mustering the army for the battle.4 The noise of a multitude on the mountains, as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations assembled together: Jehovah of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.
5 They are coming from a far country, From the farthest horizons, The LORD and His instruments of indignation, To destroy the whole land.5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.5 His army is coming from a distant land, from the ends of heaven. The LORD is coming with the weapons of his fury to destroy the whole world.5 They come from a far country, from the uttermost part of heaven, even Yahweh, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.5 They come from a far country, from the end of the heavens Jehovah, and the weapons of his indignation to destroy the whole land.
Judgment on the Day of the LORD
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 Wail, for the day of the LORD is near! It will come as destruction from the Almighty.6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.6 Cry loudly, for the day of the LORD is near. It will come like destruction from the Almighty.6 Wail; for the day of Yahweh is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty.6 Howl, for the day of Jehovah is at hand; it cometh as destruction from the Almighty.
7 Therefore all hands will fall limp, And every man's heart will melt.7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:7 That is why every hand will hang limp, and everyone's courage will fail.7 Therefore all hands will be feeble, and everyone's heart will melt.7 Therefore shall all hands be feeble, and every heart of man shall melt,
8 They will be terrified, Pains and anguish will take hold of them; They will writhe like a woman in labor, They will look at one another in astonishment, Their faces aflame.8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.8 They'll be terrified. Pain and anguish will seize them. They'll writhe like a woman giving birth to a child. They'll look at one another in astonishment. Their faces will be burning red.8 They will be dismayed. Pangs and sorrows will seize them. They will be in pain like a woman in labor. They will look in amazement one at another. Their faces will be faces of flame.8 and they shall be terrified: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them, they shall writhe as a woman that travaileth; they shall be amazed one at another, their faces shall be as flames.
9 Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, Cruel, with fury and burning anger, To make the land a desolation; And He will exterminate its sinners from it.9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.9 The day of the LORD is going to come. It will be a cruel day with fury and fierce anger. He will make the earth desolate. He will destroy its sinners.9 Behold, the day of Yahweh comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy its sinners out of it.9 Behold, the day of Jehovah cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the earth desolate; and he will destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
10 For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not flash forth their light; The sun will be dark when it rises And the moon will not shed its light.10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.10 The stars in the sky and their constellations won't show their light anymore. The sun will be dark when it rises. The moon won't shine.10 For the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be darkened in its going forth, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.10 For the stars of the heavens and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 Thus I will punish the world for its evil And the wicked for their iniquity; I will also put an end to the arrogance of the proud And abase the haughtiness of the ruthless.11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.11 I will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their wrongdoing. I will put an end to arrogant people and humble the pride of tyrants.11 I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity. I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will humble the haughtiness of the terrible.11 And I will punish the world for evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will make the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will bring low the haughtiness of the violent.
12 I will make mortal man scarcer than pure gold And mankind than the gold of Ophir.12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.12 I will make people harder to find than pure gold and human beings more rare than gold from Ophir.12 I will make people more rare than fine gold, even a person than the pure gold of Ophir.12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold, even man than the gold of Ophir.
13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, And the earth will be shaken from its place At the fury of the LORD of hosts In the day of His burning anger.13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.13 I will make heaven tremble, and the earth will be shaken from its place when the LORD of Armies is angry. At that time he will be very angry.13 Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken out of its place in the wrath of Yahweh of Armies, and in the day of his fierce anger.13 Therefore I will make the heavens to shake, and the earth shall be removed out of her place, at the wrath of Jehovah of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
14 And it will be that like a hunted gazelle, Or like sheep with none to gather them, They will each turn to his own people, And each one flee to his own land.14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.14 They'll be like hunted gazelle and like sheep with no one to gather them. Everyone will return to his own people and flee to his own land.14 It will happen that like a hunted gazelle, and like sheep that no one gathers, they will each turn to their own people, and will each flee to their own land.14 And it shall be as with a chased roe, and as with a flock that no man gathereth together; every one shall turn to his own people, and every one flee into his own land.
15 Anyone who is found will be thrust through, And anyone who is captured will fall by the sword.15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.15 Whoever is found will be stabbed to death. Whoever is captured will be executed.15 Everyone who is found will be thrust through. Everyone who is captured will fall by the sword.15 All that are found shall be thrust through; and every one that is in league with them shall fall by the sword.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 Their little ones also will be dashed to pieces Before their eyes; Their houses will be plundered And their wives ravished.16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.16 Their little children will be smashed to death right before their eyes. Their houses will be looted and their wives raped.16 Their infants also will be dashed in pieces before their eyes. Their houses will be ransacked, and their wives raped.16 And their infants shall be dashed in pieces before their eyes, their houses shall be rifled, and their women ravished.
Babylon Will Fall to the Medes
17 Behold, I am going to stir up the Medes against them, Who will not value silver or take pleasure in gold.17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.17 I'm going to stir up the Medes against them. They don't care for silver and aren't happy with gold.17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who will not value silver, and as for gold, they will not delight in it.17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who do not regard silver, and as for gold, they have no delight in it.
18 And their bows will mow down the young men, They will not even have compassion on the fruit of the womb, Nor will their eye pity children.18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.18 But their bows will smash the youth. They'll have no compassion for babies, nor will they look with pity on children.18 Their bows will dash the young men in pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb. Their eyes will not spare children.18 And their bows shall dash the young men to pieces, and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb: their eye shall not spare children.
19 And Babylon, the beauty of kingdoms, the glory of the Chaldeans' pride, Will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.19 Babylon, the jewel of the kingdoms, the proud beauty of the Chaldeans, will be like Sodom and Gomorrah when God destroyed them.19 Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, will be like when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
20 It will never be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation; Nor will the Arab pitch his tent there, Nor will shepherds make their flocks lie down there.20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.20 It will never be inhabited again, and no one will live in it for generations. Arabs won't pitch their tents there. Shepherds won't let their flocks rest there.20 It will never be inhabited, neither will it be lived in from generation to generation. The Arabian will not pitch a tent there, neither will shepherds make their flocks lie down there.20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in, even to generation and generation; nor shall Arabian pitch tent there, nor shepherds make fold there.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 But desert creatures will lie down there, And their houses will be full of owls; Ostriches also will live there, and shaggy goats will frolic there.21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.21 Desert animals will lie down there. Their homes will be full of owls. Ostriches will live there, and wild goats will skip about.21 But wild animals of the desert will lie there, and their houses will be full of jackals. Ostriches will dwell there, and wild goats will frolic there.21 But beasts of the desert shall lie there, and their houses shall be full of owls; and ostriches shall dwell there, and wild goats shall dance there.
22 Hyenas will howl in their fortified towers And jackals in their luxurious palaces. Her fateful time also will soon come And her days will not be prolonged.22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.22 Hyenas will howl in Babylon's strongholds, and jackals will howl in its luxurious palaces. Its time has almost come. Its days will not be extended.22 Wolves will cry in their castles, and jackals in the pleasant palaces. Her time is near to come, and her days will not be prolonged.22 And jackals shall cry to one another in their palaces, and wild dogs in the pleasant castles. And her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
