God’s Vengeance on the Nations
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 Who is this who comes from Edom, With garments of glowing colors from Bozrah, This One who is majestic in His apparel, Marching in the greatness of His strength? "It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save."1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.1 Who is this coming from Bozrah in Edom with his clothes stained bright red? Who is this dressed in splendor, going forward with great strength? "It is I, the LORD. I am coming to announce my victory. I am powerful enough to save [you]."1 Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this who is glorious in his clothing, marching in the greatness of his strength? "It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save."1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with deep-red garments from Bozrah, this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
2 Why is Your apparel red, And Your garments like the one who treads in the wine press?2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?2 Why are your clothes red and your garments like those who trample grapes in a winepress?2 Why are you red in your clothing, and your garments like him who treads in the wine vat?2 Wherefore is redness in thine apparel, And thy garments like him that treadeth in the winevat?
3 "I have trodden the wine trough alone, And from the peoples there was no man with Me. I also trod them in My anger And trampled them in My wrath; And their lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments, And I stained all My raiment.3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.3 "I have trampled alone in the winepress. No one was with me. In my anger I trampled on people. In my wrath I stomped on them. Their blood splattered my clothes so all my clothing has been stained.3 "I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yes, I trod them in my anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled on my garments, and I have stained all my clothing.3 I have trodden the winepress alone, and of the peoples not a man was with me; and I have trodden them in mine anger, and trampled them in my fury; and their blood is sprinkled upon my garments, and I have stained all mine apparel.
4 "For the day of vengeance was in My heart, And My year of redemption has come.4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.4 I planned the day of vengeance. The year for my reclaiming [you] has come.4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed had come.
5 "I looked, and there was no one to help, And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold; So My own arm brought salvation to Me, And My wrath upheld Me.5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.5 I looked, but there was no help. I was astounded that there was no [outside] support. So with my own power I won a victory. My anger supported me.5 I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore my own arm brought salvation to me; and my wrath, it upheld me.5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: and mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 "I trod down the peoples in My anger And made them drunk in My wrath, And I poured out their lifeblood on the earth."6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.6 In my anger I trampled on people. In my wrath I made them drunk and poured their blood on the ground."6 I trod down the peoples in my anger, and made them drunk in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth."6 And I have trodden down the peoples in mine anger, and made them drunk in my fury; and their blood have I brought down to the earth.
God’s Ancient Mercies Recalled
7 I shall make mention of the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, the praises of the LORD, According to all that the LORD has granted us, And the great goodness toward the house of Israel, Which He has granted them according to His compassion And according to the abundance of His lovingkindnesses.7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.7 I will acknowledge the LORD's acts of mercy, and [sing] the praises of the LORD, because of everything that the LORD has done for us. He has done many good things for the nation of Israel because of his compassion and his unlimited mercy.7 I will make mention of the loving kindnesses of Yahweh, [and] the praises of Yahweh, according to all that Yahweh has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.7 I will record the loving-kindnesses of Jehovah, the praises of Jehovah, according to all that Jehovah hath bestowed upon us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel which he hath bestowed upon them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses.
8 For He said, "Surely, they are My people, Sons who will not deal falsely." So He became their Savior.8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.8 He said, "They are my people, children who will not lie to me." So he became their Savior.8 For he said, "Surely, they are my people, children who will not deal falsely:" so he was their Savior.8 And he said, They are indeed my people, children that will not lie; and he became their Saviour.
9 In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, And He lifted them and carried them all the days of old.9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.9 In all their troubles he was troubled, and he was the Messenger who saved them. In his love and compassion he reclaimed them. He always held them and carried them in the past.9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bore them, and carried them all the days of old.9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the Angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bore them and carried them all the days of old.
10 But they rebelled And grieved His Holy Spirit; Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy, He fought against them.10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.10 But they rebelled and offended his Holy Spirit. So he turned against them as their enemy; he fought against them.10 But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, [and] himself fought against them.10 But they rebelled and grieved his holy Spirit: and he turned to be their enemy; himself, he fought against them.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 Then His people remembered the days of old, of Moses. Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit in the midst of them,11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?11 Then his people remembered Moses and the distant past. Where is the one who brought them out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is the one who put his Holy Spirit in them?11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses [and] his people, [saying], Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? where is he who put his holy Spirit in the midst of them?11 But he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people: Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he that put his holy Spirit within him,
12 Who caused His glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, Who divided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name,12 That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?12 Where is the one who sent his powerful arm to support the right hand of Moses? Where is the one who divided the water in front of them to make an everlasting name for himself?12 who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses? who divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name?12 his glorious arm leading them by the right hand of Moses, dividing the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name,
13 Who led them through the depths? Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not stumble;13 That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?13 Where is the one who led them through the deep water? Like horses in the wilderness, they didn't stumble.13 who led them through the depths, as a horse in the wilderness, so that they didn't stumble?13 who led them through the depths, like a horse in the wilderness, and they stumbled not?
14 As the cattle which go down into the valley, The Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. So You led Your people, To make for Yourself a glorious name.14 As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.14 Like animals going down into a valley, they were given rest by the LORD's Spirit. In this way you guided your people to make an honored name for yourself.14 As the livestock that go down into the valley, the Spirit of Yahweh caused them to rest; so you led your people, to make yourself a glorious name.14 As cattle go down into the valley, the Spirit of Jehovah gave them rest; so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.
“You Are Our Father”
15 Look down from heaven and see from Your holy and glorious habitation; Where are Your zeal and Your mighty deeds? The stirrings of Your heart and Your compassion are restrained toward me.15 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?15 Look down and see from heaven, from your holy and beautiful dwelling. Where is your determination and might? Where is the longing of your heart and your compassion? Don't hold back.15 Look down from heaven, and see from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory: where are your zeal and your mighty acts? the yearning of your heart and your compassion is restrained toward me.15 Look down from the heavens, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory! Where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy tender mercies? Are they restrained toward me?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 For You are our Father, though Abraham does not know us And Israel does not recognize us. You, O LORD, are our Father, Our Redeemer from of old is Your name.16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.16 You are our Father. Even though Abraham doesn't know us and Israel doesn't pay attention to us, O LORD, you are our Father. Your name is our Defender From Everlasting.16 For you are our Father, though Abraham doesn't know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us: you, Yahweh, are our Father; our Redeemer from everlasting is your name.16 For thou art our Father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, Jehovah, art our Father; our Redeemer, from everlasting, is thy name.
17 Why, O LORD, do You cause us to stray from Your ways And harden our heart from fearing You? Return for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your heritage.17 O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.17 O LORD, why do you let us wander from your ways and become so stubborn that we are unable to fear you? Return for the sake of your servants. They are the tribes that belong to you.17 O Yahweh, why do you make us to err from your ways, and harden our heart from your fear? Return for your servants' sake, the tribes of your inheritance.17 Why, O Jehovah, hast thou made us to err from thy ways, hast hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.
18 Your holy people possessed Your sanctuary for a little while, Our adversaries have trodden it down.18 The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.18 Your holy people possessed the land for a little while. Our enemies have trampled on your holy place.18 Your holy people possessed [it] but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down your sanctuary.18 Thy holy people have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.
19 We have become like those over whom You have never ruled, Like those who were not called by Your name.19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.19 We have become like those whom you never ruled, like those who are not called by your name.19 We have become as they over whom you never bear rule, as those who were not called by your name.19 We have become like those over whom thou never barest rule, those not called by thy name.
