The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD saying,1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,1 The LORD spoke his word to Jeremiah. He said,1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
"Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will announce My words to you."2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.2 "Go to the potter's house. There I will give you my message."2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause you to hear my words.2 Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
Then I went down to the potter's house, and there he was, making something on the wheel.3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.3 I went to the potter's house, and he was working there at his wheel.3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and behold, he was making a work on the wheels.3 And I went down to the potter's house; and behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
But the vessel that he was making of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he remade it into another vessel, as it pleased the potter to make.4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.4 Whenever a clay pot he was working on was ruined, he would rework it into a new clay pot the way he wanted to make it.4 When the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.4 And the vessel that he made was marred, as clay, in the hand of the potter; and he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make.
Then the word of the LORD came to me saying,5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,5 The LORD spoke his word to me. The LORD asked,5 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,5 And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying,

"Can I not, O house of Israel, deal with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD. "Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.6 "Nation of Israel, can't I do with you as this potter does with clay? Nation of Israel, you are like the clay in the potter's hands.6 House of Israel, can't I do with you as this potter? says Yahweh. Behold, as the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, house of Israel.6 House of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith Jehovah. Behold, as the clay in the potter's hand, so are ye in my hand, house of Israel.
"At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it;7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;7 "At one time I may threaten to tear up, break down, and destroy a nation or a kingdom.7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it;7 At the moment that I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to break down, and to destroy,
if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it.8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.8 But suppose the nation that I threatened turns away from doing wrong. Then I will change my plans about the disaster I planned to do to it.8 if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.8 if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turn from their evil, then I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
"Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it;9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;9 "At another time I may promise to build and plant a nation or a kingdom.9 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;9 And at the moment that I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant,
if it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will think better of the good with which I had promised to bless it.10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.10 But suppose that nation does what I consider evil and doesn't obey me. Then I will change my plans about the good that I promised to do to it.10 if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they not obey my voice, then I will repent of the good, with which I said I would benefit them.10 if it do evil in my sight, that it hearken not unto my voice, then I will repent of the good wherewith I said I would benefit them.

"So now then, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem saying, 'Thus says the LORD, "Behold, I am fashioning calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh turn back, each of you from his evil way, and reform your ways and your deeds."'11 Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.11 "Now say to the people of Judah and to those who live in Jerusalem, 'This is what the LORD says: I'm going to prepare a disaster and make plans against you. Turn from your evil ways, change your lives, and do good.'11 Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return you now everyone from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.11 And now, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I prepare evil against you, and devise a device against you: turn ye then every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your doings.
"But they will say, 'It's hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.'12 And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.12 "But they will answer, 'It's useless! We'll live the way we want to. We'll go our own stubborn, evil ways.'12 But they say, It is in vain; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will do everyone after the stubbornness of his evil heart.12 But they say, There is no hope; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will each one do according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.
"Therefore thus says the LORD, 'Ask now among the nations, Who ever heard the like of this? The virgin of Israel Has done a most appalling thing.13 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.13 "This is what the LORD says: Ask among the nations if anyone has ever heard anything like this. The people of Israel have done a very horrible thing.13 Therefore thus says Yahweh: Ask now among the nations, who has heard such things; the virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.13 Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Ask ye now among the nations, Who hath heard such things? The virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
Does the snow of Lebanon forsake the rock of the open country? Or is the cold flowing water from a foreign land ever snatched away?14 Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?14 The rocky slopes of Lebanon are never without snow. The cool mountain streams never dry up.14 Shall the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? [or] shall the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?14 Shall the snow of Lebanon cease from the rock of the field? Shall the cool flowing waters coming from afar be dried up?
 'For My people have forgotten Me, They burn incense to worthless gods And they have stumbled from their ways, From the ancient paths, To walk in bypaths, Not on a highway,15 Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;15 But my people have forgotten me. They burn incense as an offering to worthless idols, and they stumble along the way, on the ancient path. They go on side roads and not on major highways.15 For my people have forgotten me, they have burned incense to false [gods]; and they have been made to stumble in their ways, in the ancient paths, to walk in byways, in a way not built up;15 For my people hath forgotten me: they burn incense to vanity; and they have caused them to stumble in their ways, the ancient paths, to walk in by-paths of a way not cast up;

To make their land a desolation, An object of perpetual hissing; Everyone who passes by it will be astonished And shake his head.16 To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.16 Their land will become desolate and something to be hissed at forever. Everyone who will pass by it will be stunned and shake his head.16 to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing; everyone who passes thereby shall be astonished, and shake his head.16 to make their land an astonishment, a perpetual hissing: every one that passeth by shall be astonished, and shake his head.
Like an east wind I will scatter them Before the enemy; I will show them My back and not My face In the day of their calamity.'"17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.17 Like the east wind I will scatter them in front of the enemy. On the day of their disaster, I will show them my back, not my face."17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.17 As with an east wind will I scatter them before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
Then they said, "Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah. Surely the law is not going to be lost to the priest, nor counsel to the sage, nor the divine word to the prophet! Come on and let us strike at him with our tongue, and let us give no heed to any of his words."18 Then said they, Come and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.18 Then they said, "Let's plot against Jeremiah, because the teachings of the priests, the advice of wise people, and the word of the prophets won't disappear. Accuse him! Pay no attention to anything he says."18 Then they said, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.18 And they said, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor word from the prophet. Come and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
Do give heed to me, O LORD, And listen to what my opponents are saying!19 Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.19 Pay attention to me, O LORD, and listen to what my accusers say.19 Give heed to me, Yahweh, and listen to the voice of those who contend with me.19 Jehovah, give heed to me, and listen to the voice of those that contend with me.
Should good be repaid with evil? For they have dug a pit for me. Remember how I stood before You To speak good on their behalf, So as to turn away Your wrath from them.20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.20 Good should not be paid back with evil. They dig a pit to take my life. Remember how I stood in your presence and pleaded for them in order to turn your anger away from them.20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? For they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away thy wrath from them.

Therefore, give their children over to famine And deliver them up to the power of the sword; And let their wives become childless and widowed. Let their men also be smitten to death, Their young men struck down by the sword in battle.21 Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.21 Now, hand their children over to famine. Pour out their [blood] by using your sword. Then their wives will become childless widows. Their husbands will be put to death. Their young men will be struck down in battle.21 Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword; and let their wives become childless, and widows; and let their men be slain of death, [and] their young men struck of the sword in battle.21 Therefore give up their children to the famine, and deliver them over to the power of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of children and be widows; and let their men be swept off by death, their young men be smitten by the sword in battle.
May an outcry be heard from their houses, When You suddenly bring raiders upon them; For they have dug a pit to capture me And hidden snares for my feet.22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.22 Make them cry out from their homes when you suddenly send troops against them, because they dug a pit to catch me and hid snares for my feet.22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, when you shall bring a troop suddenly on them; for they have dug a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them; for they have digged a pit to take me, and have hidden snares for my feet.
Yet You, O LORD, know All their deadly designs against me; Do not forgive their iniquity Or blot out their sin from Your sight. But may they be overthrown before You; Deal with them in the time of Your anger!23 Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.23 But you, O LORD, know that they plan to kill me. Don't forgive their crimes. Don't wipe their sins out of your sight. Make them stumble in your presence. Deal with them when you get angry.23 Yet, Yahweh, you know all their counsel against me to kill me; don't forgive their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from your sight; but let them be overthrown before you; deal you with them in the time of your anger.23 And thou, Jehovah, knowest all their counsel against me to slay me. Forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee: deal with them in the time of thine anger.
