Prophecy against Moab
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 Concerning Moab. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Woe to Nebo, for it has been destroyed; Kiriathaim has been put to shame, it has been captured; The lofty stronghold has been put to shame and shattered.1 Against Moab thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.1 This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says about Moab: How horrible it will be for Nebo; it will be destroyed. Kiriathaim will be put to shame; it will be captured. Its stronghold will be put to shame and torn down.1 Of Moab. Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Woe to Nebo! for it is laid waste; Kiriathaim is disappointed, it is taken; Misgab is put to shame and broken down.1 Concerning Moab. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled; Kirjathaim is put to shame, it is taken; Misgab is put to shame and dismayed.
 "There is praise for Moab no longer; In Heshbon they have devised calamity against her: 'Come and let us cut her off from being a nation!' You too, Madmen, will be silenced; The sword will follow after you.2 There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue thee.2 People will no longer praise Moab. The people in Heshbon will plan Moab's destruction. "Let's destroy that nation!" You will be silenced, city of Madmen. Death will come after you.2 The praise of Moab is no more; in Heshbon they have devised evil against her: Come, and let us cut her off from being a nation. You also, Madmen, shall be brought to silence: the sword shall pursue you.2 Moab's praise is no more; in Heshbon they have devised evil against her: Come, and let us cut her off from being a nation. Thou also, O Madmen, shalt be cut down; the sword shall pursue thee.
 "The sound of an outcry from Horonaim, 'Devastation and great destruction!'3 A voice of crying shall be from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction.3 People will cry out from Horonaim, "Looting and great destruction!"3 The sound of a cry from Horonaim, desolation and great destruction!3 A voice of crying from Horonaim; wasting and great destruction!
 "Moab is broken, Her little ones have sounded out a cry of distress.4 Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.4 Moab will be broken. Its little ones will cry out.4 Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.4 Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.
 "For by the ascent of Luhith They will ascend with continual weeping; For at the descent of Horonaim They have heard the anguished cry of destruction.5 For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.5 People go up the pass of Luhith, crying bitterly as they go. On the road down to Horonaim they have heard the distressful cry of destruction.5 For by the ascent of Luhith with continual weeping shall they go up; for at the descent of Horonaim they have heard the distress of the cry of destruction.5 For by the ascent of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the descent of Horonaim is heard the anguish of the cry of destruction.

 "Flee, save your lives, That you may be like a juniper in the wilderness.6 Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.6 "Run away! Run for your lives! Run like a wild donkey in the desert."6 Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.6 Flee, save your lives, and be like a shrub in the wilderness.
 "For because of your trust in your own achievements and treasures, Even you yourself will be captured; And Chemosh will go off into exile Together with his priests and his princes.7 For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together.7 Since you trust the things you do and your treasures, you will be captured. Chemosh will go into captivity with all its priests and officials.7 For, because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you also shall be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity, his priests and his princes together.7 For because thou hast confided in thy works and in thy treasures, thou also shalt be taken, and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity, his priests and his princes together.
 "A destroyer will come to every city, So that no city will escape; The valley also will be ruined And the plateau will be destroyed, As the LORD has said.8 And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken.8 The destroyer will come to every city, and no city will escape. The valley will be destroyed, and the plain will be laid waste as the LORD has threatened.8 The destroyer shall come on every city, and no city shall escape; the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed; as Yahweh has spoken.8 And the waster shall come upon every city, that not a city shall escape; and the valley shall perish, and the plateau shall be destroyed: as Jehovah hath said.
 "Give wings to Moab, For she will flee away; And her cities will become a desolation, Without inhabitants in them.9 Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein.9 Put salt on Moab. It will be destroyed. Its cities will become deserted ruins.9 Give wings to Moab, that she may fly and get her away: and her cities shall become a desolation, without any to dwell therein.9 Give wings unto Moab, that she may flee and get away; and the cities thereof shall become a desolation, without inhabitant.
 "Cursed be the one who does the LORD'S work negligently, And cursed be the one who restrains his sword from blood.10 Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.10 Cursed are those who neglect doing the LORD's work. Cursed are those who keep their swords from killing.10 Cursed is he who does the work of Yahweh negligently; and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from blood.10 Cursed be he that doeth the work of Jehovah negligently, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood!

 "Moab has been at ease since his youth; He has also been undisturbed, like wine on its dregs, And he has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, Nor has he gone into exile. Therefore he retains his flavor, And his aroma has not changed.11 Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.11 "Moab has lived securely ever since it was young. Its people are like wine left to settle in a jar. They aren't poured from one jar to another. They haven't gone into captivity. That is why its flavor has remained the same, and its aroma hasn't changed.11 Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his lees, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither has he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remains in him, and his scent is not changed.11 Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and hath settled on his lees; he hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste hath remained in him, and his scent is not changed.
 "Therefore behold, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will send to him those who tip vessels, and they will tip him over, and they will empty his vessels and shatter his jars.12 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.12 That is why the days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will send people to pour Moab out of its jars and to smash its pitchers.12 Therefore, behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will send to him those who pour off, and they shall pour him off; and they shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles in pieces.12 Therefore behold, days come, saith Jehovah, that I will send unto him pourers that shall pour him off, and shall empty his vessels, and break in pieces his flagons.
 "And Moab will be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel, their confidence.13 And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.13 Then Moab will be ashamed of Chemosh as the nation of Israel was ashamed when it trusted Bethel.13 Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.13 And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel, their confidence.
 "How can you say, 'We are mighty warriors, And men valiant for battle '?14 How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?14 "How can you say, 'We are soldiers and warriors'?14 How do you say, We are mighty men, and valiant men for the war?14 How do ye say, We are mighty, and men of valour for the war?
 "Moab has been destroyed and men have gone up to his cities; His choicest young men have also gone down to the slaughter," Declares the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.15 Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.15 The enemy will attack Moab and destroy its cities. Its finest young men will be slaughtered," declares the king, whose name is the LORD of Armies.15 Moab is laid waste, and they are gone up into his cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, says the King, whose name is Yahweh of Armies.15 Moab is laid waste, and his cities are gone up in smoke, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is Jehovah of hosts.

 "The disaster of Moab will soon come, And his calamity has swiftly hastened.16 The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.16 "Moab's destruction is coming near; disaster is coming quickly.16 The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hurries fast.16 The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.
 "Mourn for him, all you who live around him, Even all of you who know his name; Say, 'How has the mighty scepter been broken, A staff of splendor!'17 All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!17 Mourn over it, all of its neighbors and everyone who knows its fame. Say, 'Look at the strong staff, the beautiful rod, that is broken!'17 All you who are around him, bemoan him, and all you who know his name; say, How is the strong staff broken, the beautiful rod!17 All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, the beautiful rod!
 "Come down from your glory And sit on the parched ground, O daughter dwelling in Dibon, For the destroyer of Moab has come up against you, He has ruined your strongholds.18 Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, and he shall destroy thy strong holds.18 "People of Dibon, come down from your place of honor and sit on the dry ground. The destroyers of Moab will attack you. They will destroy your fortresses.18 You daughter who dwells in Dibon, come down from your glory, and sit in thirst; for the destroyer of Moab has come up against you, he has destroyed your strongholds.18 Come down from thy glory and sit in the drought, O inhabitress, daughter of Dibon; the spoiler of Moab is come up against thee, thy strongholds hath he destroyed.
 "Stand by the road and keep watch, O inhabitant of Aroer; Ask him who flees and her who escapes And say, 'What has happened?'19 O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, What is done?19 Stand by the road in Aroer, and watch. Ask those who are fleeing and those who are escaping what is happening.19 Inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and watch: ask him who flees, and her who escapes; say, What has been done?19 Stand by the way, and watch, inhabitress of Aroer; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth; say, What is done?
 "Moab has been put to shame, for it has been shattered. Wail and cry out; Declare by the Arnon That Moab has been destroyed.20 Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled,20 They will answer, 'Moab is disgraced; it is defeated. Shout loudly, and cry. Tell the news in Arnon that Moab is destroyed.'20 Moab is disappointed; for it is broken down: wail and cry; tell it by the Arnon, that Moab is laid waste.20 Moab is put to shame; for he is broken down: howl and cry; tell it in Arnon, that Moab is laid waste.

 "Judgment has also come upon the plain, upon Holon, Jahzah and against Mephaath,21 And judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,21 "Judgment has come to all the cities on the plain: to Holon, Jahzah, Mephaath,21 Judgment is come on the plain country, on Holon, and on Jahzah, and on Mephaath,21 And judgment is come upon the country of the plateau; upon Holon, and upon Jahzah, and upon Mephaath;
 against Dibon, Nebo and Beth-diblathaim,22 And upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Bethdiblathaim,22 Dibon, Nebo, Beth Diblathaim,22 and on Dibon, and on Nebo, and on Beth Diblathaim,22 and upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Beth-diblathaim;
 against Kiriathaim, Beth-gamul and Beth-meon,23 And upon Kiriathaim, and upon Bethgamul, and upon Bethmeon,23 Kiriathaim, Beth Gamul, Beth Meon,23 and on Kiriathaim, and on Beth Gamul, and on Beth Meon,23 and upon Kirjathaim, and upon Beth-gamul, and upon Beth-meon;
 against Kerioth, Bozrah and all the cities of the land of Moab, far and near.24 And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.24 Kerioth, Bozrah, and on all the cities of Moab, far and near.24 and on Kerioth, and on Bozrah, and on all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.24 and upon Kerijoth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far and near.
 "The horn of Moab has been cut off and his arm broken," declares the LORD.25 The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.25 "Moab's horn is cut off, and its arm is broken," declares the LORD.25 The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, says Yahweh.25 The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith Jehovah.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "Make him drunk, for he has become arrogant toward the LORD; so Moab will wallow in his vomit, and he also will become a laughingstock.26 Make ye him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.26 "Get the people of Moab drunk; they have spoken against the LORD. They will wallow in their own vomit, and people will laugh at them.26 Make him drunken; for he magnified himself against Yahweh: and Moab shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.26 Make him drunken, for he magnified himself against Jehovah; and Moab shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.
 "Now was not Israel a laughingstock to you? Or was he caught among thieves? For each time you speak about him you shake your head in scorn.27 For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.27 People of Moab, didn't you laugh at the people of Israel? Were they caught among thieves? Whenever you talk about them you shake your heads in contempt.27 For wasn't Israel a derision to you? was he found among thieves? for as often as you speak of him, you shake your head.27 For was not Israel a derision unto thee? Was he found among thieves, that as oft as thou didst speak of him, thou didst shake the head?
 "Leave the cities and dwell among the crags, O inhabitants of Moab, And be like a dove that nests Beyond the mouth of the chasm.28 O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole's mouth.28 People of Moab, abandon your cities. Live among the cliffs. Be like doves that make their nests at the entrance of a cave.28 You inhabitants of Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock; and be like the dove that makes her nest over the mouth of the abyss.28 Leave the cities, and dwell in the rocks, ye inhabitants of Moab, and be like the dove, that maketh her nest in the sides of the cave's mouth.
 "We have heard of the pride of Moab-- he is very proud-- Of his haughtiness, his pride, his arrogance and his self-exaltation.29 We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.29 "We have heard about the arrogance of Moab's people. They are very arrogant. They are very arrogant, conceited, and boastful.29 We have heard of the pride of Moab, [that] he is very proud; his loftiness, and his pride, and his arrogance, and the haughtiness of his heart.29 We have heard of the arrogance of Moab, he is very proud; his loftiness, and his arrogance, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.
 "I know his fury," declares the LORD, "But it is futile; His idle boasts have accomplished nothing.30 I know his wrath, saith the LORD; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.30 I know how arrogant they are," declares the LORD, "but it isn't right. They brag and don't do what they say.30 I know his wrath, says Yahweh, that it is nothing; his boastings have worked nothing.30 I know his wrath, saith Jehovah; his pratings are vain: they do not as they say.

 "Therefore I will wail for Moab, Even for all Moab will I cry out; I will moan for the men of Kir-heres.31 Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kirheres.31 That is why I will weep for Moab and cry for all of Moab. I will moan for the people of Kir Hareseth.31 Therefore will I wail for Moab; yes, I will cry out for all Moab: for the men of Kir Heres shall they mourn.31 Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab: for the men of Kir-heres shall there be moaning.
 "More than the weeping for Jazer I will weep for you, O vine of Sibmah! Your tendrils stretched across the sea, They reached to the sea of Jazer; Upon your summer fruits and your grape harvest The destroyer has fallen.32 O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.32 I will cry for you as Jazer cries. I will cry for you, grapevines of Sibmah. Your branches [once] spread as far as the sea, and they reached as far as the sea of Jazer. The destroyer will destroy your ripened fruits and your grapes.32 With more than the weeping of Jazer will I weep for you, vine of Sibmah: your branches passed over the sea, they reached even to the sea of Jazer: on your summer fruits and on your vintage the destroyer is fallen.32 O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with more than the weeping of Jaazer: thy shoots passed over the sea, they reached to the sea of Jaazer. The spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.
 "So gladness and joy are taken away From the fruitful field, even from the land of Moab. And I have made the wine to cease from the wine presses; No one will tread them with shouting, The shouting will not be shouts of joy.33 And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab, and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting.33 Joy and gladness have disappeared from the orchards and fields of Moab. I will stop the wine flowing from the winepresses. No one will stomp on grapes with shouts of joy. There will be shouts, but not shouts of joy.33 Gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to cease from the wine presses: none shall tread with shouting; the shouting shall be no shouting.33 And joy and gladness is taken away from the fruitful field and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: they shall no more tread with shouting; the shouting shall be no shouting.
 "From the outcry at Heshbon even to Elealeh, even to Jahaz they have raised their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim and to Eglath-shelishiyah; for even the waters of Nimrim will become desolate.34 From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.34 "The cry will be heard from Heshbon to Elealeh and Jahaz. It will be heard from Zoar to Horonaim and Eglath Shelishiyah. Even the streams of Nimrim will dry up.34 From the cry of Heshbon even to Elealeh, even to Jahaz have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim, to Eglath Shelishiyah: for the waters of Nimrim also shall become desolate.34 Because of the cry from Heshbon, unto Elaleh, unto Jahaz have they uttered their voice, from Zoar unto Horonaim, unto Eglath-shelishijah: for even the waters of Nimrim shall become desolations.
 "I will make an end of Moab," declares the LORD, "the one who offers sacrifice on the high place and the one who burns incense to his gods.35 Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods.35 I will stop those in Moab who come to worship sites, those who bring offerings to their gods," declares the LORD.35 Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, says Yahweh, him who offers in the high place, and him who burns incense to his gods.35 And I will cause to cease in Moab, saith Jehovah, him that offereth in the high place, and him that burneth incense to his gods.

 "Therefore My heart wails for Moab like flutes; My heart also wails like flutes for the men of Kir-heres. Therefore they have lost the abundance it produced.36 Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kirheres: because the riches that he hath gotten are perished.36 "That is why I moan for Moab like a flute. I sound like a flute for the people of Kir Hareseth. The wealth they gained has disappeared.36 Therefore my heart sounds for Moab like pipes, and my heart sounds like pipes for the men of Kir Heres: therefore the abundance that he has gotten is perished.36 Therefore my heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and my heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kir-heres; because the abundance that he hath gotten is perished.
 "For every head is bald and every beard cut short; there are gashes on all the hands and sackcloth on the loins.37 For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.37 "Every head is shaved, and every beard is cut off. There are gashes on every hand and sackcloth on every waist.37 For every head is bald, and every beard clipped: on all the hands are cuttings, and on the waist sackcloth.37 For every head is bald, and every beard clipped; upon all the hands are cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.
 "On all the housetops of Moab and in its streets there is lamentation everywhere; for I have broken Moab like an undesirable vessel," declares the LORD.38 There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD.38 People in Moab will mourn on every rooftop and in every street. There will be mourning everywhere, because I will break Moab like a jar that no one wants," declares the LORD.38 On all the housetops of Moab and in its streets there is lamentation every where; for I have broken Moab like a vessel in which none delights, says Yahweh.38 It is wholly lamentation upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the public places thereof; for I have broken Moab, like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith Jehovah.
 "How shattered it is! How they have wailed! How Moab has turned his back-- he is ashamed! So Moab will become a laughingstock and an object of terror to all around him."39 They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.39 "They will cry, 'Look how Moab is defeated! Moab turns away in shame!' Moab has become something ridiculed and something held in contempt by everyone around it.39 How is it broken down! [how] do they wail! how has Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab become a derision and a terror to all who are around him.39 They howl, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! And Moab shall be a derision and a terror to all that are round about him.
 For thus says the LORD: "Behold, one will fly swiftly like an eagle And spread out his wings against Moab.40 For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.40 "This is what the LORD says: The enemy will swoop down like eagles and spread their wings over Moab.40 For thus says Yahweh: Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread out his wings against Moab.40 For thus saith Jehovah: Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread forth his wings over Moab.

 "Kerioth has been captured And the strongholds have been seized, So the hearts of the mighty men of Moab in that day Will be like the heart of a woman in labor.41 Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men's hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.41 The cities will be taken, and the fortified places will be captured. On that day Moab's soldiers will be like women in childbirth.41 Kerioth is taken, and the strongholds are seized, and the heart of the mighty men of Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.41 Kerijoth is taken, and the strongholds are seized, and at that day the heart of the mighty men of Moab shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
 "Moab will be destroyed from being a people Because he has become arrogant toward the LORD.42 And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.42 Moab will be destroyed as a nation, because it spoke against the LORD.42 Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he has magnified himself against Yahweh.42 And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against Jehovah.
 "Terror, pit and snare are coming upon you, O inhabitant of Moab," declares the LORD.43 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.43 Disasters, pits, and traps are in store for those who live in Moab," declares the LORD.43 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are on you, inhabitant of Moab, says Yahweh.43 Fear, and the pit, and the snare shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith Jehovah.
 "The one who flees from the terror Will fall into the pit, And the one who climbs up out of the pit Will be caught in the snare; For I shall bring upon her, even upon Moab, The year of their punishment," declares the LORD.44 He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.44 "Whoever flees from a disaster will fall into a pit. Whoever climbs out of the pit will be caught in a trap. I will bring a year of punishment to Moab," declares the LORD.44 He who flees from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he who gets up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring on him, even on Moab, the year of their visitation, says Yahweh.44 He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon her, upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith Jehovah.
 "In the shadow of Heshbon The fugitives stand without strength; For a fire has gone forth from Heshbon And a flame from the midst of Sihon, And it has devoured the forehead of Moab And the scalps of the riotous revelers.45 They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.45 "Those who flee will stand exhausted in the shadow of Heshbon. A fire will come out of Heshbon and a flame from Sihon. It will burn the foreheads of the people of Moab and the skulls of those noisy people.45 Those who fled stand without strength under the shadow of Heshbon; for a fire is gone forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and has devoured the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.45 They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon powerless; for a fire hath come forth from Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and hath consumed the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the sons of tumult.

 "Woe to you, Moab! The people of Chemosh have perished; For your sons have been taken away captive And your daughters into captivity.46 Woe be unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sons are taken captives, and thy daughters captives.46 How horrible it will be for you, Moab. You people of Chemosh will die. Your sons will be taken away into exile, and your daughters will be taken away into captivity.46 Woe to you, O Moab! the people of Chemosh is undone; for your sons are taken away captive, and your daughters into captivity.46 Woe to thee, Moab! The people of Chemosh is undone; for thy sons are taken away in captivity, and thy daughters are captives.
 "Yet I will restore the fortunes of Moab In the latter days," declares the LORD. Thus far the judgment on Moab.47 Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the latter days, saith the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.47 But I will restore Moab in the last days," declares the LORD. The judgment against Moab ends here.47 Yet will I bring back the captivity of Moab in the latter days, says Yahweh. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.47 But I will turn the captivity of Moab at the end of the days, saith Jehovah. Thus far is the judgement of Moab.
