Remember, O LORD, what has befallen us; Look, and see our reproach!1 Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.1 "Remember, O LORD, what has happened to us. Take a look at our disgrace!1 Remember, Yahweh, what has come on us: Look, and see our reproach.1 Remember, O Jehovah, what is come upon us; consider, and see our reproach.
Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, Our houses to aliens.2 Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.2 "The land we inherited has been turned over to strangers. Our homes have been turned over to foreigners.2 Our inheritance is turned to strangers, Our houses to aliens.2 Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
We have become orphans without a father, Our mothers are like widows.3 We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.3 We are orphans without a father. Our mothers are like widows.3 We are orphans and fatherless; Our mothers are as widows.3 We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.
We have to pay for our drinking water, Our wood comes to us at a price.4 We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.4 We have to pay to drink our own water. We have to pay to chop our own wood.4 We have drunken our water for money; Our wood is sold to us.4 Our water have we to drink for money, our wood cometh unto us for a price.
Our pursuers are at our necks; We are worn out, there is no rest for us.5 Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest.5 [Our enemies] are breathing down our necks. We are worn out [and] not permitted to rest.5 Our pursuers are on our necks: We are weary, and have no rest.5 Our pursuers are on our necks: we are weary, we have no rest.

We have submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.6 We have given the hand to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.6 We had to beg Egypt and Assyria for food. 6 We have given the hand to the Egyptians, To the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.6 We have given the hand to Egypt, and to Asshur, to be satisfied with bread.
Our fathers sinned, and are no more; It is we who have borne their iniquities.7 Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.7 Our ancestors sinned. Now they are gone, [but] we have to take the punishment for their wickedness.7 Our fathers sinned, and are no more; We have borne their iniquities.7 Our fathers have sinned, and they are not; and we bear their iniquities.
Slaves rule over us; There is no one to deliver us from their hand.8 Servants have ruled over us: there is none that doth deliver us out of their hand.8 Slaves rule us. There is no one to rescue us from them.8 Servants rule over us: There is none to deliver us out of their hand.8 Bondmen rule over us: there is no deliverer out of their hand.
We get our bread at the risk of our lives Because of the sword in the wilderness.9 We gat our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness.9 To get our food, we have to risk our lives in the heat of the desert. 9 We get our bread at the peril of our lives, Because of the sword of the wilderness.9 We have to get our bread at the risk of our lives, because of the sword of the wilderness.
Our skin has become as hot as an oven, Because of the burning heat of famine.10 Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine.10 Our skin is as hot as an oven from the burning heat of starvation.10 Our skin is black like an oven, Because of the burning heat of famine.10 Our skin gloweth like an oven, because of the burning heat of the famine.

They ravished the women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah.11 They ravished the women in Zion, and the maids in the cities of Judah.11 Women in Zion are raped, so are the girls in the cities of Judah.11 They ravished the women in Zion, The virgins in the cities of Judah.11 They have ravished the women in Zion, the maids in the cities of Judah.
Princes were hung by their hands; Elders were not respected.12 Princes are hanged up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honoured.12 [Our] leaders are hung by their hands. [Our] older leaders are shown no respect.12 Princes were hanged up by their hand: The faces of elders were not honored.12 Princes were hanged up by their hand; the faces of elders were not honoured.
Young men worked at the grinding mill, And youths stumbled under loads of wood.13 They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood.13 [Our] young men work at the mill, and [our] boys stagger under loads of wood.13 The young men bare the mill; The children stumbled under the wood.13 The young men have borne the mill, and the youths have stumbled under the wood.
Elders are gone from the gate, Young men from their music.14 The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick.14 [Our] older leaders have stopped meeting at the city gate, and [our] young men no longer play their music.14 The elders have ceased from the gate, The young men from their music.14 The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.
The joy of our hearts has ceased; Our dancing has been turned into mourning.15 The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.15 There is no joy left in our hearts. Our dancing has turned into mourning.15 The joy of our heart is ceased; Our dance is turned into mourning.15 The joy of our heart hath ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
The crown has fallen from our head; Woe to us, for we have sinned!16 The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!16 The crown has fallen from our head. Because we have sinned, it has been disastrous for us.16 The crown is fallen from our head: Woe to us! for we have sinned.16 The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, for we have sinned!
Because of this our heart is faint, Because of these things our eyes are dim;17 For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes are dim.17 This is why we feel sick. This is why our eyes see less and less.17 For this our heart is faint; For these things our eyes are dim;17 For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes have grown dim,
Because of Mount Zion which lies desolate, Foxes prowl in it.18 Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.18 Foxes roam around on Mount Zion, which lies in ruins.18 For the mountain of Zion, which is desolate: The foxes walk on it.18 Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate: foxes walk over it.
You, O LORD, rule forever; Your throne is from generation to generation.19 Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation.19 "But you, O LORD, sit enthroned forever, and your reign continues throughout every generation.19 You, Yahweh, remain forever; Your throne is from generation to generation.19 Thou, Jehovah, dwellest for ever; thy throne is from generation to generation.
Why do You forget us forever? Why do You forsake us so long?20 Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time?20 Why have you completely forgotten us? Why have you abandoned us for such a long time?20 Why do you forget us forever, [And] forsake us so long time?20 Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, dost thou forsake us so long time?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Restore us to You, O LORD, that we may be restored; Renew our days as of old,21 Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.21 O LORD, bring us back to you, and we'll come back. Give us back the life we had long ago,21 Turn us to yourself, Yahweh, and we shall be turned. Renew our days as of old.21 Turn thou us unto thee, Jehovah, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.
Unless You have utterly rejected us And are exceedingly angry with us.22 But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us.22 unless you have completely rejected us [and] are very angry with us."22 But you have utterly rejected us; You are very angry against us.22 Or is it that thou hast utterly rejected us? Wouldest thou be exceeding wroth against us?
