John’s Questions
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
When Jesus had finished giving instructions to His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.1 After Jesus finished giving his twelve disciples these instructions, he moved on from there to teach his message in their cities.1 It happened that when Jesus had finished directing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.1 And it came to pass when Jesus had finished commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and preach in their cities.
Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,2 When John was in prison, he heard about the things Christ had done. So he sent his disciples2 Now when John heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples2 But John, having heard in the prison the works of the Christ, sent by his disciples,
and said to Him, "Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?"3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?3 to ask Jesus, "Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for someone else?"3 and said to him, "Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?"3 and said to him, Art thou the coming one? or are we to wait for another?
Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you hear and see:4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:4 Jesus answered John's disciples, "Go back, and tell John what you hear and see:4 Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:4 And Jesus answering said to them, Go, report to John what ye hear and see.
the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM.5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.5 Blind people see again, lame people are walking, those with skin diseases are made clean, deaf people hear again, dead people are brought back to life, and poor people hear the Good News.5 the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.5 Blind men see and lame walk; lepers are cleansed, and deaf hear; and dead are raised, and poor have glad tidings preached to them:

"And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me."6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.6 Whoever doesn't lose his faith in me is indeed blessed."6 Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me."6 and blessed is whosoever shall not be offended in me.
Jesus’ Tribute to John
As these men were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?7 As they were leaving, Jesus spoke to the crowds about John. "What did you go into the desert to see? Tall grass swaying in the wind?7 As these went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?7 But as they went away, Jesus began to say to the crowds concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? a reed moved about by the wind?
"But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Those who wear soft clothing are in kings' palaces!8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.8 Really, what did you go to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Those who wear fine clothes are in royal palaces.8 But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in king's houses.8 But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in delicate raiment? behold, those who wear delicate things are in the houses of kings.
"But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet.9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.9 "Really, what did you go to see? A prophet? Let me tell you that he is far more than a prophet.9 But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.9 But what went ye out to see? a prophet? Yea, I say to you, and more than a prophet:
"This is the one about whom it is written, 'BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY BEFORE YOU.'10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.10 John is the one about whom Scripture says, 'I'm sending my messenger ahead of you to prepare the way in front of you.'10 For this is he, of whom it is written, 'Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.'10 this is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.

"Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.11 "I can guarantee this truth: Of all the people ever born, no one is greater than John the Baptizer. Yet, the least important person in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John.11 Most certainly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.11 Verily I say to you, that there is not arisen among the born of women a greater than John the baptist. But he who is a little one in the kingdom of the heavens is greater than he.
"From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force.12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.12 From the time of John the Baptizer until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful people have been seizing it.12 From the days of John the Baptizer until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.12 But from the days of John the baptist until now, the kingdom of the heavens is taken by violence, and the violent seize on it.
"For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John.13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.13 All the Prophets and Moses' Teachings prophesied up to the time of John.13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.13 For all the prophets and the law have prophesied unto John.
"And if you are willing to accept it, John himself is Elijah who was to come.14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.14 If you are willing to accept their message, John is the Elijah who was to come.14 If you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, who is to come.14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, who is to come.
"He who has ears to hear, let him hear.15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.15 Let the person who has ears listen!15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear.15 He that has ears to hear, let him hear.

"But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places, who call out to the other children,16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,16 "How can I describe the people who are living now? They are like children who sit in the marketplaces and shout to other children,16 "But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call to their companions16 But to whom shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the markets, which, calling to their companions,
and say, 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.'17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.17 'We played music for you, but you didn't dance. We sang a funeral song, but you didn't show any sadness.'17 and say, 'We played the flute for you, and you didn't dance. We mourned for you, and you didn't lament.'17 say, We have piped to you, and ye have not danced: we have mourned to you, and ye have not wailed.
"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon!'18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.18 "John came neither eating nor drinking, and people say, 'There's a demon in him!'18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.'18 For John has come neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has a demon.
"The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds."19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and people say, 'Look at him! He's a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' "Yet, wisdom is proved right by its actions."19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' But wisdom is justified by her children."19 The Son of man has come eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a man that is eating and wine-drinking, a friend of tax-gatherers, and of sinners: and wisdom has been justified by her children.
The Unrepenting Cities
Then He began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent.20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:20 Then Jesus denounced the cities where he had worked most of his miracles because they had not changed the way they thought and acted.20 Then he began to denounce the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done, because they didn't repent.20 Then began he to reproach the cities in which most of his works of power had taken place, because they had not repented.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.21 "How horrible it will be for you, Chorazin! How horrible it will be for you, Bethsaida! If the miracles worked in you had been worked in Tyre and Sidon, they would have changed the way they thought and acted long ago in sackcloth and ashes.21 "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.21 Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee Bethsaida! for if the works of power which have taken place in you, had taken place in Tyre and Sidon, they had long ago repented in sackcloth and ashes.
"Nevertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.22 I can guarantee that judgment day will be better for Tyre and Sidon than for you.22 But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.22 But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in judgment-day than for you.
"And you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will descend to Hades; for if the miracles had occurred in Sodom which occurred in you, it would have remained to this day.23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.23 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to heaven? No, you will go down to hell! If the miracles that had been worked in you had been worked in Sodom, it would still be there today.23 You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, you will go down to Hades. For if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in you, it would have remained until this day.23 And thou, Capernaum, who hast been raised up to heaven, shalt be brought down even to hades. For if the works of power which have taken place in thee, had taken place in Sodom, it had remained until this day.
"Nevertheless I say to you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you."24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.24 I can guarantee that judgment day will be better for Sodom than for you."24 But I tell you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom, on the day of judgment, than for you."24 But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in judgment-day than for thee.
Come to Me
At that time Jesus said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.25 At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for hiding these things from wise and intelligent people and revealing them to little children.25 At that time, Jesus answered, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.25 At that time, Jesus answering said, I praise thee, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
"Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.26 Yes, Father, this is what pleased you.26 Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.26 Yea, Father, for thus has it been well-pleasing in thy sight.
"All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.27 "My Father has turned everything over to me. Only the Father knows the Son. And no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son is willing to reveal him.27 All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.27 All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son but the Father, nor does any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom the Son may be pleased to reveal him.
"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.28 "Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.28 "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.28 Come to me, all ye who labour and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.29 Place my yoke over your shoulders, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble. Then you will find rest for yourselves 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest to your souls;
"For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.30 because my yoke is easy and my burden is light."30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."30 for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
