 but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.6 Instead, go to the lost sheep of the nation of Israel.6 Rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
 "And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.7 As you go, spread this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'7 As you go, preach, saying, 'The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!'7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of the heavens has drawn nigh.
 "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.8 Cure the sick, bring the dead back to life, cleanse those with skin diseases, and force demons out of people. Give these things without charging, since you received them without paying.8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and cast out demons. Freely you received, so freely give.8 Heal the infirm, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons: ye have received gratuitously, give gratuitously.
 "Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts,9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,9 "Don't take any gold, silver, or even copper coins in your pockets.9 Don't take any gold, nor silver, nor brass in your money belts.9 Do not provide yourselves with gold, or silver, or brass, for your belts,
 or a bag for your journey, or even two coats, or sandals, or a staff; for the worker is worthy of his support.10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.10 Don't take a traveling bag for the trip, a change of clothes, sandals, or a walking stick. After all, the worker deserves to have his needs met.10 Take no bag for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food.10 nor scrip for the way, nor two body coats, nor sandals, nor a staff: for the workman is worthy of his nourishment.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay at his house until you leave that city.11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.11 "When you go into a city or village, look for people who will listen to you there. Stay with them until you leave [that place].11 Into whatever city or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy; and stay there until you go on.11 But into whatsoever city or village ye enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there remain till ye go forth.
 "As you enter the house, give it your greeting.12 And when ye come into an house, salute it.12 When you go into a house, greet the family.12 As you enter into the household, greet it.12 And as ye enter into a house salute it.
 "If the house is worthy, give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, take back your blessing of peace.13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.13 If it is a family that listens to you, allow your greeting to stand. But if it is not receptive, take back your greeting.13 If the household is worthy, let your peace come on it, but if it isn't worthy, let your peace return to you.13 And if the house indeed be worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
 "Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet.14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.14 If anyone doesn't welcome you or listen to what you say, leave that house or city, and shake its dust off your feet.14 Whoever doesn't receive you, nor hear your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake off the dust from your feet.14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, as ye go forth out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
 "Truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.15 I can guarantee this truth: Judgment day will be better for Sodom and Gomorrah than for that city.15 Most certainly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in judgment-day than for that city.
A Hard Road before Them
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.16 "I'm sending you out like sheep among wolves. So be as cunning as snakes but as innocent as doves.16 "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.16 Behold, I send you as sheep in the midst of wolves; be therefore prudent as the serpents, and guileless as the doves.
 "But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the courts and scourge you in their synagogues;17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;17 Watch out for people who will hand you over to the Jewish courts and whip you in their synagogues.17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you.17 But beware of men; for they will deliver you up to sanhedrims, and scourge you in their synagogues;
 and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.18 Because of me you will even be brought in front of governors and kings to testify to them and to everyone in the world.18 Yes, and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations.18 and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations.
 "But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say.19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.19 When they hand you over [to the authorities], don't worry about what to say or how to say it. When the time comes, you will be given what to say.19 But when they deliver you up, don't be anxious how or what you will say, for it will be given you in that hour what you will say.19 But when they deliver you up, be not careful how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given to you in that hour what ye shall speak.
 "For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.20 Indeed, you're not the ones who will be speaking. The Spirit of your Father will be speaking through you.20 For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.20 For ye are not the speakers, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.21 "Brother will hand over brother to death; a father will hand over his child. Children will rebel against their parents and kill them.21 "Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. Children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.21 But brother shall deliver up brother to death, and father child; and children shall rise up against parents and shall put them to death;
 "You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.22 Everyone will hate you because you are committed to me. But the person who patiently endures to the end will be saved.22 You will be hated by all men for my name's sake, but he who endures to the end will be saved.22 and ye shall be hated of all on account of my name. But he that has endured to the end, he shall be saved.
 "But whenever they persecute you in one city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes.23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.23 So when they persecute you in one city, flee to another. I can guarantee this truth: Before you have gone through every city in Israel, the Son of Man will come.23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next, for most certainly I tell you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel, until the Son of Man has come.23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee to the other; for verily I say to you, Ye shall not have completed the cities of Israel until the Son of man be come.
The Meaning of Discipleship
 "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master.24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.24 "A student is not better than his teacher. Nor is a slave better than his owner.24 "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord.24 The disciple is not above his teacher, nor the bondman above his lord.
 "It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household!25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?25 It is enough for a student to become like his teacher and a slave like his owner. If they have called the owner of the house Beelzebul, they will certainly call the family members the same name. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household!25 It is sufficient for the disciple that he should become as his teacher, and the bondman as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more those of his household?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.26 So don't be afraid of them. Nothing has been covered that will not be exposed. Whatever is secret will be made known.26 Therefore don't be afraid of them, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed; and hidden that will not be known.26 Fear them not therefore; for there is nothing covered which shall not be revealed, and secret which shall not be known.
 "What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.27 Tell in the daylight what I say to you in the dark. Shout from the housetops what you hear whispered.27 What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim on the housetops.27 What I say to you in darkness speak in the light, and what ye hear in the ear preach upon the houses.
 "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.28 Don't be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who can destroy both body and soul in hell.28 Don't be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.28 And be not afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul; but fear rather him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
 "Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.29 "Aren't two sparrows sold for a penny? Not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's permission.29 "Aren't two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father's will,29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall to the ground without your Father;
 "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.30 Every hair on your head has been counted.30 but the very hairs of your head are all numbered.30 but of you even the hairs of the head are all numbered.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.31 Don't be afraid! You are worth more than many sparrows.31 Therefore don't be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.31 Fear not therefore; ye are better than many sparrows.
 "Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.32 "So I will acknowledge in front of my Father in heaven that person who acknowledges me in front of others.32 Everyone therefore who confesses me before men, him I will also confess before my Father who is in heaven.32 Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, I also will confess him before my Father who is in the heavens.
 "But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.33 But I will tell my Father in heaven that I don't know the person who tells others that he doesn't know me.33 But whoever denies me before men, him I will also deny before my Father who is in heaven.33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in the heavens.
 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.34 "Don't think that I came to bring peace to earth. I didn't come to bring peace but conflict.34 "Don't think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn't come to send peace, but a sword.34 Do not think that I have come to send peace upon the earth: I have not come to send peace, but a sword.
 "For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW;35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.35 I came to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.35 For I came to set a man at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.35 For I have come to set a man at variance with his father, and the daughter with her mother, and the daughter-in-law with her mother-in-law;

 and A MAN'S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD.36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.36 A person's enemies will be the members of his own family.36 A man's foes will be those of his own household.36 and they of his household shall be a man's enemies.
 "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.37 "The person who loves his father or mother more than me does not deserve to be my disciple. The person who loves a son or daughter more than me does not deserve to be my disciple.37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn't worthy of me.37 He who loves father or mother above me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter above me is not worthy of me.
 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.38 Whoever doesn't take up his cross and follow me doesn't deserve to be my disciple.38 He who doesn't take his cross and follow after me, isn't worthy of me.38 And he who does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.
 "He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.39 The person who tries to preserve his life will lose it, but the person who loses his life for me will preserve it.39 He who seeks his life will lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.39 He that finds his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for my sake shall find it.
The Reward of Service
 "He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.40 "The person who welcomes you welcomes me, and the person who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.40 He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me.40 He that receives you receives me, and he that receives me receives him that sent me.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.41 The person who welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet's reward. The person who welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward.41 He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward. He who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward.41 He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous man's reward.
 "And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward."42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.42 I can guarantee this truth: Whoever gives any of my humble followers a cup of cold water because that person is my disciple will certainly never lose his reward."42 Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, most certainly I tell you he will in no way lose his reward."42 And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
