1 "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands, says this: | 1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; | 1 "To the messenger of the church in Ephesus, write: The one who holds the seven stars in his right hand, the one who walks among the seven gold lamp stands, says: | 1 "To the angel of the assembly in Ephesus write: "He who holds the seven stars in his right hand, he who walks among the seven golden lampstands says these things: | 1 To the angel of the assembly in Ephesus write: These things says he that holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lamps: | 2 I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false; | 2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: | 2 I know what you have done-how hard you have worked and how you have endured. I also know that you cannot tolerate wicked people. You have tested those who call themselves apostles but are not apostles. You have discovered that they are liars. | 2 "I know your works, and your toil and perseverance, and that you can't tolerate evil men, and have tested those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and found them false. | 2 I know thy works and thy labour, and thine endurance, and that thou canst not bear evil men; and thou hast tried them who say that themselves are apostles and are not, and hast found them liars; | 3 and you have perseverance and have endured for My name's sake, and have not grown weary. | 3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. | 3 You have endured, suffered trouble because of my name, and have not grown weary. | 3 You have perseverance and have endured for my name's sake, and have not grown weary. | 3 and endurest, and hast borne for my name's sake, and hast not wearied: | 4 But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. | 4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. | 4 However, I have this against you: The love you had at first is gone. | 4 But I have this against you, that you left your first love. | 4 but I have against thee, that thou hast left thy first love. | 5 'Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place-- unless you repent. | 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. | 5 Remember how far you have fallen. Return to me and change the way you think and act, and do what you did at first. I will come to you and take your lamp stand from its place if you don't change. | 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works; or else I am coming to you swiftly, and will move your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent. | 5 Remember therefore whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works: but if not, I am coming to thee, and I will remove thy lamp out of its place, except thou shalt repent. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
6 'Yet this you do have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. | 6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate. | 6 But you have this in your favor-you hate what the Nicolaitans are doing. I also hate what they're doing. | 6 But this you have, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. | 6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the works of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate. | 7 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.' | 7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. | 7 "Let the person who has ears listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. I will give the privilege of eating from the tree of life, which stands in the paradise of God, to everyone who wins the victory. | 7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of my God. | 7 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him that overcomes, I will give to him to eat of the tree of life which is in the paradise of God. | Message to Smyrna |
8 "And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this: | 8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; | 8 "To the messenger of the church in Smyrna, write: The first and the last, who was dead and became alive, says: | 8 "To the angel of the assembly in Smyrna write: "The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life says these things: | 8 And to the angel of the assembly in Smyrna write: These things says the first and the last, who became dead, and lived: | 9 'I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy by those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. | 9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. | 9 I know how you are suffering, how poor you are-but you are rich. I also know that those who claim to be Jews slander you. They are the synagogue of Satan. | 9 "I know your works, oppression, and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and they are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. | 9 I know thy tribulation and thy poverty; but thou art rich; and the railing of those who say that they themselves are Jews, and are not, but a synagogue of Satan. | 10 'Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. | 10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. | 10 Don't be afraid of what you are going to suffer. The devil is going to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested. Your suffering will go on for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. | 10 Don't be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you will have oppression for ten days. Be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life. | 10 Fear nothing of what thou art about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give to thee the crown of life. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
11 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.' | 11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. | 11 Let the person who has ears listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. Everyone who wins the victory will never be hurt by the second death. | 11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. He who overcomes won't be harmed by the second death. | 11 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. He that overcomes shall in no wise be injured of the second death. | Message to Pergamum |
12 "And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this: | 12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; | 12 "To the messenger of the church in Pergamum, write: The one who holds the sharp two-edged sword says: | 12 "To the angel of the assembly in Pergamum write: "He who has the sharp two-edged sword says these things: | 12 And to the angel of the assembly in Pergamos write: These things says he that has the sharp two-edged sword: | 13 'I know where you dwell, where Satan's throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. | 13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. | 13 I know where you live. Satan's throne is there. You hold on to my name and have not denied your belief in me, even in the days of Antipas. He was my faithful witness who was killed in your presence, where Satan lives. | 13 "I know your works and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. You hold firmly to my name, and didn't deny my faith in the days of Antipas my witness, my faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. | 13 I know where thou dwellest, where the throne of Satan is; and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in the days in which Antipas my faithful witness was, who was slain among you, where Satan dwells. | 14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality. | 14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. | 14 But I have a few things against you: You have among you those who follow what Balaam taught Balak. Balak trapped the people of Israel by [encouraging] them to eat food sacrificed to idols and to sin sexually. | 14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. | 14 But I have a few things against thee: that thou hast there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a snare before the sons of Israel, to eat of idol sacrifices and commit fornication. | 15 'So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans. | 15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate. | 15 You also have some who follow what the Nicolaitans teach. | 15 So you also have some who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans likewise. | 15 So thou also hast those who hold the doctrine of Nicolaitanes in like manner. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
16 'Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth. | 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. | 16 So return to me and change the way you think and act, or I will come to you quickly and wage war against them with the sword from my mouth. | 16 Repent therefore, or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of my mouth. | 16 Repent therefore: but if not, I come to thee quickly, and I will make war with them with the sword of my mouth. | 17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.' | 17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. | 17 Let the person who has ears listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. I will give some of the hidden manna to everyone who wins the victory. I will also give each person a white stone with a new name written on it, a name that is known only to the person who receives it. | 17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes, to him I will give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows but he who receives it. | 17 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him that overcomes, to him will I give of the hidden manna; and I will give to him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows but he that receives it. | Message to Thyatira |
18 "And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet are like burnished bronze, says this: | 18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; | 18 "To the messenger of the church in Thyatira, write: The Son of God, whose eyes are like flames of fire and whose feet are like glowing bronze, says: | 18 "To the angel of the assembly in Thyatira write: "The Son of God, who has his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet are like burnished brass, says these things: | 18 And to the angel of the assembly in Thyatira write: These things says the Son of God, he that has his eyes as a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass: | 19 'I know your deeds, and your love and faith and service and perseverance, and that your deeds of late are greater than at first. | 19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. | 19 I know what you do. I know your love, faith, service, and endurance. I also know that what you are doing now is greater than what you did at first. | 19 "I know your works, your love, faith, service, patient endurance, and that your last works are more than the first. | 19 I know thy works, and love, and faith, and service, and thine endurance, and thy last works to be more than the first. | 20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. | 20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. | 20 But I have something against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. She teaches and misleads my servants to sin sexually and to eat food sacrificed to idols. | 20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate your woman, Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality, and to eat things sacrificed to idols. | 20 But I have against thee that thou permittest the woman Jezebel, she who calls herself prophetess, and she teaches and leads astray my servants to commit fornication and eat of idol sacrifices. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
21 'I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her immorality. | 21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. | 21 I gave her time to turn to me and change the way she thinks and acts, but she refuses to turn away from her sexual sins. | 21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. | 21 And I gave her time that she should repent, and she will not repent of her fornication. | 22 Behold, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. | 22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. | 22 Watch me! I'm going to throw her into a sickbed. Those who commit sexual sins with her will also suffer a lot, unless they turn away from what she is doing. | 22 Behold, I will throw her into a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great oppression, unless they repent of her works. | 22 Behold, I cast her into a bed, and those that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, | 23 'And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. | 23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. | 23 I will kill her children. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches hearts and minds. I will reward each of you for what you have done. | 23 I will kill her children with Death, and all the assemblies will know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. | 23 and her children will I kill with death; and all the assemblies shall know that I am he that searches the reins and the hearts; and I will give to you each according to your works. | 24 'But I say to you, the rest who are in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them-- I place no other burden on you. | 24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. | 24 But the rest of you in Thyatira-all who don't hold on to Jezebel's teaching, who haven't learned what are called the deep things of Satan-I won't burden you with anything else. | 24 But to you I say, to the rest who are in Thyatira, as many as don't have this teaching, who don't know what some call 'the deep things of Satan,' to you I say, I am not putting any other burden on you. | 24 But to you I say, the rest who are in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I do not cast upon you any other burden; | 25 'Nevertheless what you have, hold fast until I come. | 25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. | 25 Just hold on to what you have until I come. | 25 Nevertheless, hold that which you have firmly until I come. | 25 but what ye have hold fast till I shall come. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
26 'He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, TO HIM I WILL GIVE AUTHORITY OVER THE NATIONS; | 26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: | 26 I have received authority from my Father. I will give authority over the nations to everyone who wins the victory and continues to do what I want until the end. | 26 He who overcomes, and he who keeps my works to the end, to him I will give authority over the nations. | 26 And he that overcomes, and he that keeps unto the end my works, to him will I give authority over the nations, | 27 AND HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON, AS THE VESSELS OF THE POTTER ARE BROKEN TO PIECES, as I also have received authority from My Father; | 27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. | 27 Those people will rule the nations with iron scepters and shatter them like pottery. | 27 He will rule them with a rod of iron, shattering them like clay pots; as I also have received of my Father: | 27 and he shall shepherd them with an iron rod; as vessels of pottery are they broken in pieces, as I also have received from my Father; | 28 and I will give him the morning star. | 28 And I will give him the morning star. | 28 I will also give them the morning star. | 28 and I will give him the morning star. | 28 and I will give to him the morning star. | 29 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' | 29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. | 29 Let the person who has ears listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. | 29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. | 29 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. |
