Dedicated Service | ||||
NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. | 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. | 1 Brothers and sisters, in view of all we have just shared about God's compassion, I encourage you to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, dedicated to God and pleasing to him. This kind of worship is appropriate for you. | 1 Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. | 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the compassions of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your intelligent service. | 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. | 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. | 2 Don't become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants-what is good, pleasing, and perfect. | 2 Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. | 2 And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. | 3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. | 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. | 3 Because of the kindness that God has shown me, I ask you not to think of yourselves more highly than you should. Instead, your thoughts should lead you to use good judgment based on what God has given each of you as believers. | 3 For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith. | 3 For I say, through the grace which has been given to me, to every one that is among you, not to have high thoughts above what he should think; but to think so as to be wise, as God has dealt to each a measure of faith. | 4 For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, | 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: | 4 Our bodies have many parts, but these parts don't all do the same thing. | 4 For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don't have the same function, | 4 For, as in one body we have many members, but all the members have not the same office; | 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. | 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. | 5 In the same way, even though we are many individuals, Christ makes us one body and individuals who are connected to each other. | 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. | 5 thus we, being many, are one body in Christ, and each one members one of the other. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; | 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; | 6 God in his kindness gave each of us different gifts. If your gift is speaking God's word, make sure what you say agrees with the Christian faith. | 6 Having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, if prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; | 6 But having different gifts, according to the grace which has been given to us, whether it be prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; | 7 if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; | 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; | 7 If your gift is serving, then devote yourself to serving. If it is teaching, devote yourself to teaching. | 7 or service, let us give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching; | 7 or service, let us occupy ourselves in service; or he that teaches, in teaching; | 8 or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. | 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. | 8 If it is encouraging others, devote yourself to giving encouragement. If it is sharing, be generous. If it is leadership, lead enthusiastically. If it is helping people in need, help them cheerfully. | 8 or he who exhorts, to his exhorting: he who gives, let him do it with liberality; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. | 8 or he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, in simplicity; he that leads, with diligence; he that shews mercy, with cheerfulness. | 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. | 9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. | 9 Love sincerely. Hate evil. Hold on to what is good. | 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. | 9 Let love be unfeigned; abhorring evil; cleaving to good: | 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; | 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; | 10 Be devoted to each other like a loving family. Excel in showing respect for each other. | 10 In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate one to another; in honor preferring one another; | 10 as to brotherly love, kindly affectioned towards one another: as to honour, each taking the lead in paying it to the other: | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |

16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. | 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. | 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don't be arrogant, but be friendly to humble people. Don't think that you are smarter than you really are. | 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Don't set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don't be wise in your own conceits. | 16 Have the same respect one for another, not minding high things, but going along with the lowly: be not wise in your own eyes: | 17 Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. | 17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. | 17 Don't pay people back with evil for the evil they do to you. Focus your thoughts on those things that are considered noble. | 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. | 17 recompensing to no one evil for evil: providing things honest before all men: | 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. | 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. | 18 As much as it is possible, live in peace with everyone. | 18 If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. | 18 if possible, as far as depends on you, living in peace with all men; | 19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord. | 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. | 19 Don't take revenge, dear friends. Instead, let God's anger take care of it. After all, Scripture says, "I alone have the right to take revenge. I will pay back, says the Lord." | 19 Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, "Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord." | 19 not avenging yourselves, beloved, but give place to wrath; for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. | 20 "BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD." | 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. | 20 But, "If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink. If you do this, you will make him feel guilty and ashamed." | 20 Therefore "If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head." | 20 If therefore thine enemy should hunger, feed him; if he should thirst, give him drink; for, so doing, thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. | 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. | 21 Don't let evil conquer you, but conquer evil with good. | 21 Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. | 21 Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. |
