 "I am the rose of Sharon, The lily of the valleys."1 I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.1 I am a rose of Sharon, a lily [growing] in the valleys.1 I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. Lover1 I am a narcissus of Sharon, A lily of the valleys.
 "Like a lily among the thorns, So is my darling among the maidens."2 As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.2 Like a lily among thorns, so is my true love among the young women.2 As a lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters. Beloved2 As the lily among thorns, So is my love among the daughters.
 "Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, So is my beloved among the young men. In his shade I took great delight and sat down, And his fruit was sweet to my taste.3 As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.3 Like an apple tree among the trees in the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. I want to sit in his shadow. His fruit tastes sweet to me.3 As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, his fruit was sweet to my taste.3 As the apple-tree among the trees of the wood, So is my beloved among the sons: In his shadow have I rapture and sit down; And his fruit is sweet to my taste.
 "He has brought me to his banquet hall, And his banner over me is love.4 He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.4 He leads me into a banquet room and looks at me with love.4 He brought me to the banquet hall. His banner over me is love.4 He hath brought me to the house of wine, And his banner over me is love.
 "Sustain me with raisin cakes, Refresh me with apples, Because I am lovesick.5 Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.5 Strengthen me with raisins and refresh me with apples because I am weak from love.5 Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples; For I am faint with love.5 Sustain ye me with raisin-cakes, Refresh me with apples; For I am sick of love.

 "Let his left hand be under my head And his right hand embrace me."6 His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.6 His left hand is under my head. His right hand caresses me.6 His left hand is under my head. His right hand embraces me.6 His left hand is under my head, And his right hand doth embrace me.
 "I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, By the gazelles or by the hinds of the field, That you do not arouse or awaken my love Until she pleases."7 I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.7 Young women of Jerusalem, swear to me by the gazelles or by the does in the field that you will not awaken love or arouse love before its proper time.7 I adjure you, daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, or by the hinds of the field, that you not stir up, nor awaken love, until it so desires.7 I charge you, daughters of Jerusalem, By the gazelles, or by the hinds of the field, That ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.
 "Listen! My beloved! Behold, he is coming, Climbing on the mountains, Leaping on the hills!8 The voice of my beloved! behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills.8 I hear my beloved's voice. Look! Here he comes, sprinting over the mountains, racing over the hills.8 The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes, leaping on the mountains, skipping on the hills.8 The voice of my beloved! Behold, he cometh Leaping upon the mountains, Skipping upon the hills.
 "My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he is standing behind our wall, He is looking through the windows, He is peering through the lattice.9 My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, shewing himself through the lattice.9 My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, peeking through the window, looking through the lattice.9 My beloved is like a roe or a young hart. Behold, he stands behind our wall! He looks in at the windows. He glances through the lattice.9 My beloved is like a gazelle or a young hart. Behold, he standeth behind our wall, He looketh in through the windows, Glancing through the lattice.
 "My beloved responded and said to me, 'Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, And come along.10 My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.10 My beloved said to me, "Get up, my true love, my beautiful one, and come with me.10 My beloved spoke, and said to me, "Rise up, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.10 My beloved spake and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.

 For behold, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone.11 For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;11 Look! The winter is past. The rain is over and gone.11 For, behold, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone.11 For behold, the winter is past, The rain is over, it is gone:
 The flowers have already appeared in the land; The time has arrived for pruning the vines, And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.12 The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;12 Blossoms appear in the land. The time of the songbird has arrived. The cooing of the mourning dove is heard in our land.12 The flowers appear on the earth. The time of the singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.12 The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing is come, And the voice of the turtle-dove is heard in our land;
 The fig tree has ripened its figs, And the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance. Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, And come along!'"13 The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.13 The green figs ripen. The grapevines bloom and give off a fragrance. Get up, my true love, my beautiful one, and come with me.13 The fig tree ripens her green figs. The vines are in blossom. They give forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away." Lover13 The fig-tree melloweth her winter figs, And the vines in bloom give forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away!
 "O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the secret place of the steep pathway, Let me see your form, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your form is lovely."14 O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely.14 My dove, in the hiding places of the rocky crevices, in the secret places of the cliffs, let me see your figure and hear your voice. Your voice is sweet, and your figure is lovely."14 My dove in the clefts of the rock, In the hiding places of the mountainside, Let me see your face. Let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.14 My dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the covert of the precipice, Let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; For sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely.
 "Catch the foxes for us, The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, While our vineyards are in blossom."15 Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.15 Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that ruin vineyards. Our vineyards are blooming.15 Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards; for our vineyards are in blossom. Beloved15 Take us the foxes, The little foxes, that spoil the vineyards; For our vineyards are in bloom.

 "My beloved is mine, and I am his; He pastures his flock among the lilies.16 My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.16 My beloved is mine, and I am his. He is the one who grazes his flock among the lilies.16 My beloved is mine, and I am his. He browses among the lilies.16 My beloved is mine, and I am his; He feedeth his flock among the lilies,
 "Until the cool of the day when the shadows flee away, Turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle Or a young stag on the mountains of Bether."17 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.17 When the day brings a cooling breeze and the shadows flee, turn around, my beloved. Run like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains that separate us!17 Until the day is cool, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be like a roe or a young hart on the mountains of Bether.17 Until the day dawn, and the shadows flee away. Turn, my beloved: be thou like a gazelle or a young hart, Upon the mountains of Bether.
