NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
1 When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him. | 1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. | 1 When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him. | 1 When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. | 1 And when he had come down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. | 2 And a leper came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." | 2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. | 2 A man with a serious skin disease came and bowed down in front of him. The man said to Jesus, "Sir, if you're willing, you can make me clean." | 2 Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." | 2 And behold, a leper came up to him and did him homage, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou art able to cleanse me. | 3 Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. | 3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. | 3 Jesus reached out, touched him, and said, "I'm willing. So be clean!" Immediately, his skin disease went away, and he was clean. | 3 Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. | 3 And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be cleansed. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. | 4 And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." | 4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. | 4 Jesus said to him, "Don't tell anyone about this! Instead, show yourself to the priest. Then offer the sacrifice Moses commanded as proof to people that you are clean." | 4 Jesus said to him, "See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." | 4 And Jesus says to him, See thou tell no man, but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses ordained, for a testimony to them. | 5 And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, imploring Him, | 5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, | 5 When Jesus went to Capernaum, a Roman army officer came to beg him for help. | 5 When he came into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking him, | 5 And when he had entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, beseeching him, | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
6 and saying, "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, fearfully tormented." | 6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. | 6 The officer said, "Sir, my servant is lying at home paralyzed and in terrible pain." | 6 and saying, "Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented." | 6 and saying, Lord, my servant lies paralytic in the house, suffering grievously. | 7 Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him." | 7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. | 7 Jesus said to him, "I'll come to heal him." | 7 Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him." | 7 And Jesus says to him, I will come and heal him. | 8 But the centurion said, "Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed. | 8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. | 8 The officer responded, "Sir, I don't deserve to have you come into my house. But just give a command, and my servant will be healed. | 8 The centurion answered, "Lord, I'm not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed. | 8 And the centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not fit that thou shouldest enter under my roof; but only speak a word, and my servant shall be healed. | 9 "For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, 'Go!' and he goes, and to another, 'Come!' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this!' and he does it." | 9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. | 9 As you know, I'm in a chain of command and have soldiers at my command. I tell one of them, 'Go!' and he goes, and another, 'Come!' and he comes. I tell my servant, 'Do this!' and he does it." | 9 For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and tell another, 'Come,' and he comes; and tell my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." | 9 For I also am a man under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my bondman, Do this, and he does it. | 10 Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, "Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel. | 10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. | 10 Jesus was amazed when he heard this. He said to those who were following him, "I can guarantee this truth: I haven't found faith as great as this in anyone in Israel. | 10 When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to those who followed, "Most certainly I tell you, I haven't found so great a faith, not even in Israel. | 10 And when Jesus heard it, he wondered, and said to those who followed, Verily I say unto you, Not even in Israel have I found so great faith. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
11 "I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; | 11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. | 11 I can guarantee that many will come from all over the world. They will eat with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. | 11 I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven, | 11 But I say unto you, that many shall come from the rising and setting sun, and shall lie down at table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens; | 12 but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." | 12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. | 12 The citizens of that kingdom will be thrown outside into the darkness. People will cry and be in extreme pain there. | 12 but the children of the Kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." | 12 but the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. | 13 And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed that very moment. | 13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. | 13 Jesus told the officer, "Go! What you believed will be done for you." And at that moment the servant was healed. | 13 Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way. Let it be done for you as you have believed." His servant was healed in that hour. | 13 And Jesus said to the centurion, Go, and as thou hast believed, be it to thee. And his servant was healed in that hour. | Peters Mother-in-law and Many Others Healed |
14 When Jesus came into Peter's home, He saw his mother-in-law lying sick in bed with a fever. | 14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. | 14 When Jesus went to Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law in bed with a fever. | 14 When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother lying sick with a fever. | 14 And when Jesus had come to Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law laid down and in a fever; | 15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she got up and waited on Him. | 15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. | 15 Jesus touched her hand, and the fever went away. So she got up and prepared a meal for him. | 15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her. She got up and served him. | 15 and he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose and served him. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
16 When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill. | 16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: | 16 In the evening the people brought him many who were possessed by demons. He forced the [evil] spirits out of people with a command and cured everyone who was sick. | 16 When evening came, they brought to him many possessed with demons. He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick; | 16 And when the evening was come, they brought to him many possessed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were ill; | 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: "HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES." | 17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. | 17 So what the prophet Isaiah had said came true: "He took away our weaknesses and removed our diseases." | 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases." | 17 so that that should be fulfilled which was spoken through Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities and bore our diseases. | Discipleship Tested |
18 Now when Jesus saw a crowd around Him, He gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea. | 18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. | 18 Now, when Jesus saw a crowd around him, he ordered [his disciples] to cross to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. | 18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes around him, he gave the order to depart to the other side. | 18 And Jesus, seeing great crowds around him, commanded to depart to the other side. | 19 Then a scribe came and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go." | 19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. | 19 A scribe came to him and said, "Teacher, I'll follow you wherever you go." | 19 A scribe came, and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." | 19 And a scribe came up and said to him, Teacher, I will follow thee whithersoever thou mayest go. | 20 Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." | 20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. | 20 Jesus told him, "Foxes have holes, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to sleep." | 20 Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." | 20 And Jesus says to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven roosting-places; but the Son of man has not where he may lay his head. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
21 Another of the disciples said to Him, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father." | 21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. | 21 Another disciple said to him, "Sir, first let me go to bury my father." | 21 Another of his disciples said to him, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father." | 21 But another of his disciples said to him, Lord, suffer me first to go away and bury my father. | 22 But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead." | 22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. | 22 But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead." | 22 But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead." | 22 But Jesus said to him, Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead. | 23 When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. | 23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. | 23 Jesus' disciples went with him as he left in a boat. | 23 When he got into a boat, his disciples followed him. | 23 And he went on board ship and his disciples followed him; | 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. | 24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. | 24 Suddenly, a severe storm came across the sea. The waves were covering the boat. Yet, Jesus was sleeping. | 24 Behold, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves, but he was asleep. | 24 and behold, the water became very agitated on the sea, so that the ship was covered by the waves; but he slept. | 25 And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing!" | 25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. | 25 So they woke him up, saying, "Lord! Save us! We're going to die!" | 25 They came to him, and woke him up, saying, "Save us, Lord! We are dying!" | 25 And the disciples came and awoke him, saying, Lord save: we perish. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
26 He said to them, "Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?" Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm. | 26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. | 26 Jesus said to them, "Why do you cowards have so little faith?" Then he got up, gave an order to the wind and the sea, and the sea became very calm. | 26 He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm. | 26 And he says to them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then, having arisen, he rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. | 27 The men were amazed, and said, "What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?" | 27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him! | 27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the wind and the sea obey him!" | 27 The men marveled, saying, "What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?" | 27 But the men were astonished, saying, What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him? | Jesus Casts Out Demons |
28 When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way. | 28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. | 28 When he arrived in the territory of the Gadarenes on the other side [of the Sea of Galilee], two men met him. They were possessed by demons and had come out of the tombs. No one could travel along that road because the men were so dangerous. | 28 When he came to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes, two people possessed by demons met him there, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that nobody could pass that way. | 28 And there met him, when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, two possessed by demons, coming out of the tombs, exceeding dangerous, so that no one was able to pass by that way. | 29 And they cried out, saying, "What business do we have with each other, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?" | 29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? | 29 They shouted, "Why are you bothering us now, Son of God? Did you come here to torture us before it is time?" | 29 Behold, they cried out, saying, "What do we have to do with you, Jesus, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?" | 29 And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Son of God? hast thou come here before the time to torment us? | 30 Now there was a herd of many swine feeding at a distance from them. | 30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding. | 30 A large herd of pigs was feeding in the distance. | 30 Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding far away from them. | 30 Now there was, a great way off from them, a herd of many swine feeding; | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
31 The demons began to entreat Him, saying, "If You are going to cast us out, send us into the herd of swine." | 31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine. | 31 The demons begged Jesus, "If you're going to force us out, send us into that herd of pigs." | 31 The demons begged him, saying, "If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs." | 31 and the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine. | 32 And He said to them, "Go!" And they came out and went into the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters. | 32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters. | 32 Jesus said to them, "Go!" The demons came out and went into the pigs. Suddenly, the whole herd rushed down the cliff into the sea and died in the water. | 32 He said to them, "Go!" They came out, and went into the herd of pigs: and behold, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the cliff into the sea, and died in the water. | 32 And he said to them, Go. And they, going out, departed into the herd of swine; and lo, the whole herd of swine rushed down the steep slope into the sea, and died in the waters. | 33 The herdsmen ran away, and went to the city and reported everything, including what had happened to the demoniacs. | 33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils. | 33 Those who took care of the pigs ran into the city. There they reported everything, especially about the men possessed by demons. | 33 Those who fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, including what happened to those who were possessed with demons. | 33 But they that fed them fled, and went away into the city and related everything, and what had happened as to those possessed by demons. | 34 And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, they implored Him to leave their region. | 34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts. | 34 Everyone from the city went to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged him to leave their territory. | 34 Behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged that he would depart from their borders. | 34 And behold, the whole city went out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged him to go away out of their coasts. |
