1 And David spoke the words of this song to the LORD in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.1 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:1 David sang this song to the LORD when the LORD rescued him from all his enemies, especially from Saul.1 David spoke to Yahweh the words of this song in the day that Yahweh delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:1 And David spoke to Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul.
2 He said, "The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;2 He said, The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my Savior,2 and he said, "Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, even mine;2 And he said, Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
3 My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; My savior, You save me from violence.3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.3 my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, the strength of my salvation, my stronghold, my refuge, and my Savior who saved me from violence.3 God, my rock, in him I will take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge. 4 "I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies.4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.4 The LORD should be praised. I called on him, and I was saved from my enemies.4 I will call on Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from my enemies.4 I will call upon Jehovah, who is to be praised; So shall I be saved from mine enemies.
5 "For the waves of death encompassed me; The torrents of destruction overwhelmed me;5 When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;5 The waves of death had surrounded me. 6 The cords of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me.6 The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;6 The ropes of the grave had surrounded me. 7 "In my distress I called upon the LORD, Yes, I cried to my God; And from His temple He heard my voice, And my cry for help came into His ears.7 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.7 I called on the LORD in my distress. 8 "Then the earth shook and quaked, The foundations of heaven were trembling And were shaken, because He was angry.8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.8 Then the earth shook and quaked. Even the foundations of the heavens trembled. They shook violently because he was angry.8 Then the earth shook and trembled. The foundations of heaven quaked and were shaken, because he was angry.8 Then the earth shook, and quaked; The foundations of the heavens trembled And shook because he was wroth.
9 "Smoke went up out of His nostrils, Fire from His mouth devoured; Coals were kindled by it.9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.9 Smoke went up from his nostrils, and a raging fire came out of his mouth. Glowing coals flared up from it.9 Smoke went up out of his nostrils. Fire out of his mouth devoured. 10 "He bowed the heavens also, and came down With thick darkness under His feet.10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.10 He spread apart the heavens and came down with a dark cloud under his feet.10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down. 12 "And He made darkness canopies around Him, A mass of waters, thick clouds of the sky.12 And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.12 He surrounded himself with darkness. He made the dark rain clouds his covering.12 He made darkness pavilions around himself: gathering of waters, and thick clouds of the skies.12 And he made darkness round about him a tent, Gatherings of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
13 "From the brightness before Him Coals of fire were kindled.13 Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.13 Out of the brightness in front of him, he made lightning.13 At the brightness before him, coals of fire were kindled.13 From the brightness before him Burned forth coals of fire.
14 "The LORD thundered from heaven, And the Most High uttered His voice.14 The LORD thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.14 The LORD thundered from heaven. The Most High made his voice heard.14 Yahweh thundered from heaven. The Most High uttered his voice.14 Jehovah thundered from the heavens, And the Most High uttered his voice.
15 "And He sent out arrows, and scattered them, Lightning, and routed them.15 And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them.15 He shot arrows and scattered them. 16 "Then the channels of the sea appeared, The foundations of the world were laid bare By the rebuke of the LORD, At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.16 And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.16 Then the ocean floor could be seen. 19 "They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the LORD was my support.19 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.19 On the day when I faced disaster, they confronted me, but the LORD became my defense.19 They came on me in the day of my calamity, but Yahweh was my support.19 They encountered me in the day of my calamity; But Jehovah was my stay.
20 "He also brought me forth into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me.20 He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.20 He brought me out to a wide-open place. He rescued me because he was pleased with me.20 He also brought me out into a large place. 21 "The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.21 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.21 The LORD rewarded me because of my righteousness, because my hands are clean. He paid me back21 Yahweh rewarded me according to my righteousness. 22 "For I have kept the ways of the LORD, And have not acted wickedly against my God.22 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.22 because I have kept the ways of the LORD and I have not wickedly turned away from my God,22 For I have kept the ways of Yahweh, and have not wickedly departed from my God.22 For I have kept the ways of Jehovah, And have not wickedly departed from my God.
23 "For all His ordinances were before me, And as for His statutes, I did not depart from them.23 For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.23 because all his judgments are in front of me and I have not turned away from his laws.23 For all his ordinances were before me. 24 "I was also blameless toward Him, And I kept myself from my iniquity.24 I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity.24 I was innocent as far as he was concerned. I have kept myself from guilt.24 I was also perfect toward him. I kept myself from my iniquity.24 And I was upright before him, And kept myself from mine iniquity.
25 "Therefore the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to my cleanness before His eyes.25 Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.25 The LORD paid me back because of my righteousness, because he can see that I am clean.25 Therefore Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness, According to my cleanness in his eyesight.25 And Jehovah hath recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to my cleanness in his sight.

26 "With the kind You show Yourself kind, With the blameless You show Yourself blameless;26 With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright.26 [In dealing] with faithful people you are faithful, with innocent warriors you are innocent,26 With the merciful you will show yourself merciful. With the perfect man you will show yourself perfect.26 With the gracious thou dost shew thyself gracious; With the upright man thou dost shew thyself upright;
27 With the pure You show Yourself pure, And with the perverted You show Yourself astute.27 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt show thyself unsavory.27 with pure people you are pure. [In dealing] with devious people you are clever.27 With the pure you will show yourself pure. With the crooked you will show yourself shrewd.27 With the pure thou dost shew thyself pure; And with the perverse thou dost shew thyself contrary.
28 "And You save an afflicted people; But Your eyes are on the haughty whom You abase.28 And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.28 You save humble people, but your eyes bring down arrogant people.28 You will save the afflicted people, But your eyes are on the haughty, that you may bring them down.28 And the afflicted people thou dost save; And thine eyes are upon the haughty, whom thou bringest down.
29 "For You are my lamp, O LORD; And the LORD illumines my darkness.29 For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.29 O LORD, you are my lamp. The LORD turns my darkness into light.29 For you are my lamp, Yahweh. Yahweh will light up my darkness.29 For thou art my lamp, Jehovah; And Jehovah enlighteneth my darkness.
30 "For by You I can run upon a troop; By my God I can leap over a wall.30 For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.30 With you I can attack a line of soldiers. With my God I can break through barricades.30 For by you, I run against a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall.30 For by thee I have run through a troop; By my God have I leaped over a wall.

31 "As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the LORD is tested; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.31 God's way is perfect! The promise of the LORD has proven to be true. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him.31 As for God, his way is perfect. The word of Yahweh is tested. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him.31 As for �God, his way is perfect; The word of Jehovah is tried: He is a shield to all that trust in him.
32 "For who is God, besides the LORD? And who is a rock, besides our God?32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?32 Who is God but the LORD? Who is a rock other than our God?32 For who is God, besides Yahweh? Who is a rock, besides our God?32 For who is �God, save Jehovah? And who is a rock, save our God?
33 "God is my strong fortress; And He sets the blameless in His way.33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.33 God arms me with strength. His perfect way sets me free.33 God is my strong fortress. He makes my way perfect.33 �God is my strong fortress, And he maketh my way perfectly smooth.
34 "He makes my feet like hinds' feet, And sets me on my high places.34 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places.34 He makes my feet like those of a deer and gives me sure footing on high places.34 He makes his feet like hinds' [feet], and sets me on my high places.34 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, And setteth me upon my high places.
35 "He trains my hands for battle, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.35 He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.35 He trains my hands for battle so that my arms can bend an [archer's] bow of bronze.35 He teaches my hands to war, so that my arms bend a bow of brass.35 He teacheth my hands to war, And mine arms bend a bow of brass.

36 "You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your help makes me great.36 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.36 You have given me the shield of your salvation. 38 "I pursued my enemies and destroyed them, And I did not turn back until they were consumed.38 I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.38 I chased my enemies and destroyed them. I did not return until I had ended their lives.38 I have pursued my enemies and destroyed them. 39 "And I have devoured them and shattered them, so that they did not rise; And they fell under my feet.39 And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet.39 I ended their lives by shattering them. They were unable to get up. They fell under my feet.39 I have consumed them, and struck them through, so that they can't arise. Yes, they have fallen under my feet.39 And I have consumed them and have crushed them, and they rose not again; Yea, they fell under my feet.
40 "For You have girded me with strength for battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.40 For thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me.40 You armed me with strength for battle. You made my opponents bow at my feet.40 For you have armed me with strength for the battle. You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.40 And thou girdedst me with strength to battle: Thou didst subdue under me those that rose up against me.

41 "You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, And I destroyed those who hated me.41 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.41 You made my enemies turn their backs to me, and I destroyed those who hated me.41 You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, that I might cut off those who hate me.41 And mine enemies didst thou make to turn their backs unto me, And those that hated me I destroyed.

44 "You have also delivered me from the contentions of my people; You have kept me as head of the nations; A people whom I have not known serve me.44 Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.44 You rescued me from my conflicts with my people. You kept me as the leader of nations. A people I did not know will serve me.44 You also have delivered me from the strivings of my people. You have kept me to be the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known will serve me.44 And thou hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, Thou hast kept me to be head of the nations: A people I knew not doth serve me:
45 "Foreigners pretend obedience to me; As soon as they hear, they obey me.45 Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me.45 Foreigners will cringe in front of me. As soon as they hear of me, they will obey me.45 The foreigners will submit themselves to me. As soon as they hear of me, they will obey me.45 Strangers come cringing unto me: At the hearing of the ear, they obey me.

48 The God who executes vengeance for me, And brings down peoples under me,48 It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me.48 God gives me vengeance! He brings people under my authority.48 even the God who executes vengeance for me, who brings down peoples under me,48 The �God who hath avenged me, And hath brought the peoples under me.
49 Who also brings me out from my enemies; You even lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the violent man.49 And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.49 He frees me from my enemies. You lift me up above my opponents. You rescue me from violent people.49 who brings me away from my enemies. Yes, you lift me up above those who rise up against me. You deliver me from the violent man.49 He brought me forth from mine enemies: Yea, thou hast lifted me up above them that rose up against me; From the man of violence hast thou delivered me.
50 "Therefore I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the nations, And I will sing praises to Your name.50 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.50 That is why I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the nations and make music to praise your name.50 Therefore I will give thanks to you, Yahweh, among the nations. Will sing praises to your name.50 Therefore will I give thanks to thee, Jehovah, among the nations, And will sing psalms to thy name.

51 "He is a tower of deliverance to His king, And shows lovingkindness to His anointed, To David and his descendants forever."51 He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.51 He gives great victories to his king. He shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his descendant forever. 51 He gives great deliverance to his king, and shows loving kindness to his anointed, to David and to his seed, forevermore."51 It is he who giveth great deliverances to his king, And sheweth loving-kindness to his anointed, To David, and to his seed for evermore.
