David Plans to Build a Temple
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 Now it came about when the king lived in his house, and the LORD had given him rest on every side from all his enemies,1 And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;1 While King David was living in his house, the LORD gave him peace with all his enemies around him.1 It happened, when the king lived in his house, and Yahweh had given him rest from all his enemies all around,1 And it came to pass when the king dwelt in his house, and Jehovah had given him rest round about from all his enemies,
 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within tent curtains."2 That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.2 So the king said to the prophet Nathan, "Look, I'm living in a house made of cedar, while the ark of God remains in the tent."2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains."2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedars, and the ark of God dwells under curtains.
 Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your mind, for the LORD is with you."3 And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.3 Nathan told the king, "Do everything you have in mind, because the LORD is with you."3 Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart; for Yahweh is with you."3 And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thy heart; for Jehovah is with thee.
 But in the same night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying,4 And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,4 But that same night the LORD spoke his word to Nathan:4 It happened the same night, that the word of Yahweh came to Nathan, saying,4 And it came to pass that night that the word of Jehovah came to Nathan, saying,
 "Go and say to My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD, "Are you the one who should build Me a house to dwell in?5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?5 "Say to my servant David, 'This is what the LORD says: Are you the one who will build me a house to live in?5 "Go and tell my servant David, 'Thus says Yahweh, "Shall you build me a house for me to dwell in?5 Go and say to my servant, to David, Thus saith Jehovah: Wilt thou build me a house for me to dwell in?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "For I have not dwelt in a house since the day I brought up the sons of Israel from Egypt, even to this day; but I have been moving about in a tent, even in a tabernacle.6 Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.6 I haven't lived in a house from the day I took Israel out of Egypt to this day. Instead, I moved around in a tent, the tent [of meeting].6 For I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have moved around in a tent and in a tabernacle.6 For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but I went about in a tent and in a tabernacle.
 "Wherever I have gone with all the sons of Israel, did I speak a word with one of the tribes of Israel, which I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, 'Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?'"'7 In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?7 In all the places I've moved with all the Israelites, did I ever ask any of the judges of Israel whom I ordered to be shepherds of my people Israel why they didn't build me a house of cedar?' 7 In all places in which I have walked with all the children of Israel, did I say a word to any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people Israel, saying, 'Why have you not built me a house of cedar?'"'7 In all my going about with all the children of Israel, did I speak a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye me not a house of cedars?
God’s Covenant with David
 "Now therefore, thus you shall say to My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people Israel.8 Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:8 "Now this is what you will say to my servant David: 'This is what the LORD of Armies says: I took you from the pasture where you followed sheep so that you could be the leader of my people Israel.8 Now therefore you shall tell my servant David this, 'Thus says Yahweh of Armies, "I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people, over Israel.8 And now, thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: I took thee from the pasture-grounds, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people, over Israel;
 "I have been with you wherever you have gone and have cut off all your enemies from before you; and I will make you a great name, like the names of the great men who are on the earth.9 And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.9 I was with you wherever you went, and I destroyed all your enemies in front of you. I will make your name famous like the names of the greatest people on earth.9 I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a great name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.9 and I have been with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are on the earth.
 "I will also appoint a place for My people Israel and will plant them, that they may live in their own place and not be disturbed again, nor will the wicked afflict them any more as formerly,10 Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,10 I will make a place for my people Israel and plant them there. They will live in their own place and not be troubled anymore. The wicked will no longer oppress them as they used to do10 I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as at the first,10 And I will appoint a place for my people, for Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and be disturbed no more; neither shall the sons of wickedness afflict them any more, as formerly,

 even from the day that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel; and I will give you rest from all your enemies. The LORD also declares to you that the LORD will make a house for you.11 And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.11 ever since I appointed judges to rule my people Israel. So I will give you peace with all your enemies. I, the LORD, tell you that I will make a house for you.11 and as from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will cause you to rest from all your enemies. Moreover Yahweh tells you that Yahweh will make you a house.11 and since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. And I have given thee rest from all thine enemies; and Jehovah telleth thee that Jehovah will make thee a house.
 "When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom.12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.12 " 'When the time comes for you to lie down in death with your ancestors, I will send one of your descendants, [one] who will come from you. I will establish his kingdom.12 When your days are fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who shall proceed out of your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.12 When thy days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
 "He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.13 He will build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.13 He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.13 It is he who shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
 "I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; when he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and the strokes of the sons of men,14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:14 I will be his Father, and he will be my Son. If he sins, I will punish him with a rod and with blows inflicted by people.14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the sons of men;
 but My lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you.15 But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.15 But I will never stop showing him my love as I did to Saul, whom I took out of your way.15 but my loving kindness shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before you.15 but my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before thee.

 "Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever."'"16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.16 Your royal house will remain in my presence forever. Your throne will be established forever.' " 16 Your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever."'"16 And thy house and thy kingdom shall be made firm for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.
 In accordance with all these words and all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.17 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.17 Nathan told David all these words and everything he had seen.17 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.17 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David.
David’s Prayer
 Then David the king went in and sat before the LORD, and he said, "Who am I, O Lord GOD, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?18 Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?18 King David went into the tent and sat in front of the LORD. "Who am I, Almighty LORD," he asked, "and why is my house so important that you have brought me this far?18 Then David the king went in, and sat before Yahweh; and he said, "Who am I, Lord Yahweh, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?18 And king David went in and sat before Jehovah, and said, Who am I, Lord Jehovah, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
 "And yet this was insignificant in Your eyes, O Lord GOD, for You have spoken also of the house of Your servant concerning the distant future. And this is the custom of man, O Lord GOD.19 And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?19 And even this you consider to be a small act, Almighty LORD. You've also spoken about the distant future of my house. Almighty LORD, this is the teaching about the man.19 This was yet a small thing in your eyes, Lord Yahweh; but you have spoken also of your servant's house for a great while to come; and this after the way of men, Lord Yahweh!19 And yet this hath been a small thing in thy sight, Lord Jehovah; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, Lord Jehovah?
 "Again what more can David say to You? For You know Your servant, O Lord GOD!20 And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.20 "What more can I, David, say to you, Almighty LORD, since you know me so well!20 What more can David say to you? For you know your servant, Lord Yahweh.20 And what can David say more to thee? for thou, Lord Jehovah, knowest thy servant.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "For the sake of Your word, and according to Your own heart, You have done all this greatness to let Your servant know.21 For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.21 You've done this great thing because of your promise and your own desire. You made it known to me.21 For your word's sake, and according to your own heart, you have worked all this greatness, to make your servant know it.21 For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, to make thy servant know it.
 "For this reason You are great, O Lord GOD; for there is none like You, and there is no God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.22 Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.22 "That is why you are great, LORD God. There is no one like you, and there is no other god except you, as we have heard with our own ears.22 Therefore you are great, Yahweh God. For there is none like you, neither is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.22 Wherefore thou art great, Jehovah Elohim; for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
 "And what one nation on the earth is like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people and to make a name for Himself, and to do a great thing for You and awesome things for Your land, before Your people whom You have redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, from nations and their gods?23 And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?23 Who is like your people Israel? It is the one nation on earth that God came to free in order to make its people his own, to make his name known, and to do great and wonderful things for them. You forced nations and their gods out of the way of your people, whom you freed from Egypt to be your own. 23 What one nation in the earth is like your people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, and to make him a name, and to do great things for you, and awesome things for your land, before your people, whom you redeem to you out of Egypt, [from] the nations and their gods?23 And who is like thy people, like Israel, the one nation in the earth that God went to redeem to be a people to himself, and to make himself a name, and to do for them great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thyself from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?
 "For You have established for Yourself Your people Israel as Your own people forever, and You, O LORD, have become their God.24 For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.24 You created the people of Israel to be your people forever. And you, LORD, became their God.24 You established for yourself your people Israel to be a people to you forever; and you, Yahweh, became their God.24 And thou hast established to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever; and thou, Jehovah, art become their God.
 "Now therefore, O LORD God, the word that You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house, confirm it forever, and do as You have spoken,25 And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.25 "Now, LORD God, keep the promise you made to me and my house forever. Do as you promised.25 Now, Yahweh God, the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, confirm it forever, and do as you have spoken.25 And now, Jehovah Elohim, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house, fulfil it for ever, and do as thou hast said.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 that Your name may be magnified forever, by saying, 'The LORD of hosts is God over Israel'; and may the house of Your servant David be established before You.26 And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.26 Your name will be respected forever when [people] say, 'The LORD of Armies is God over Israel.' And the house of your servant David will be established in your presence.26 Let your name be magnified forever, saying, 'Yahweh of Armies is God over Israel; and the house of your servant David shall be established before you.'26 And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, Jehovah of hosts is God over Israel; and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.
 "For You, O LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have made a revelation to Your servant, saying, 'I will build you a house'; therefore Your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to You.27 For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.27 You, LORD of Armies, God of Israel, have revealed it especially to me, saying, 'I will build a house for you.' That is why I have found the courage to offer this prayer to you.27 For you, Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, have revealed to your servant, saying, 'I will build you a house.' Therefore your servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer to you.27 For thou, Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee a house; therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.
 "Now, O Lord GOD, You are God, and Your words are truth, and You have promised this good thing to Your servant.28 And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:28 "Almighty LORD, you are God, and your words are trustworthy. You promised me this good thing.28 "Now, O Lord Yahweh, you are God, and your words are truth, and you have promised this good thing to your servant.28 And now, Lord Jehovah, thou art that God, and thy words are true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant;
 "Now therefore, may it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You. For You, O Lord GOD, have spoken; and with Your blessing may the house of Your servant be blessed forever."29 Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.29 Now, please bless my house so that it may continue in your presence forever. Indeed, you, Almighty LORD, have promised it. With your blessing my house will be blessed forever."29 Now therefore let it please you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, Lord Yahweh, have spoken it. Let the house of your servant be blessed forever with your blessing."29 and now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever; for thou, Lord Jehovah, hast spoken it; and with thy blessing shall the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
