Wanderings in the Wilderness
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "Then we turned and set out for the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as the LORD spoke to me, and circled Mount Seir for many days.1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.1 We went back into the desert, following the road that goes to the Red Sea as the LORD had told me. For a long time we traveled around the region of Mount Seir.1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as Yahweh spoke to me; and we encircled Mount Seir many days.1 And we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as Jehovah had said unto me; and we went round mount Seir many days.
 "And the LORD spoke to me, saying,2 And the LORD spake unto me, saying,2 The LORD said to me,2 Yahweh spoke to me, saying,2 And Jehovah spoke to me, saying,
 You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north,3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.3 "You've traveled around this region long enough. Now go north.3 "You have encircled this mountain long enough. Turn northward.3 Ye have gone round this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
 and command the people, saying, "You will pass through the territory of your brothers the sons of Esau who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. So be very careful;4 And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:4 Give the people these instructions: 'You're going to pass through the territory of your relatives, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They'll be afraid of you, but be very careful.4 Command the people, saying, 'You are to pass through the border of your brothers the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you: take good heed to yourselves therefore;4 And command the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the border of your brethren the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; and ye shall be very guarded:
 do not provoke them, for I will not give you any of their land, even as little as a footstep because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.5 Don't start a fight with them, because I'm not giving you any of their land-not even enough to stand on. I've given Esau's descendants the region of Mount Seir as their property.5 don't contend with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on; because I have given Mount Seir to Esau for a possession.5 attack them not; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot-breadth; for I have given mount Seir as a possession unto Esau.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "You shall buy food from them with money so that you may eat, and you shall also purchase water from them with money so that you may drink.6 Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.6 You must pay them in silver for the food you eat and the water you drink.'"6 You shall purchase food of them for money, that you may eat; and you shall also buy water of them for money, that you may drink.'"6 Ye shall buy of them food for money, that ye may eat; and water shall ye also buy of them for money, that ye may drink;
 "For the LORD your God has blessed you in all that you have done; He has known your wanderings through this great wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have not lacked a thing."'7 For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.7 The LORD your God has blessed you in everything you have done. He has watched over you as you traveled through this vast desert. For 40 years now the LORD your God has been with you, and you haven't needed a thing.7 For Yahweh your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand; he has known your walking through this great wilderness: these forty years Yahweh your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.7 for Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand. He hath known thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years hath Jehovah thy God been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
 "So we passed beyond our brothers the sons of Esau, who live in Seir, away from the Arabah road, away from Elath and from Ezion-geber. And we turned and passed through by the way of the wilderness of Moab.8 And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.8 So we passed by our relatives, the descendants of Esau, who lived in Seir. We turned off the road that goes through the plains to Elath and Ezion Geber and took the road that goes through the desert of Moab.8 So we passed by from our brothers the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way of the Arabah from Elath and from Ezion Geber. We turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.8 And we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, by the plain, by Elath, and by Ezion-geber, and we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
 "Then the LORD said to me, 'Do not harass Moab, nor provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land as a possession, because I have given Ar to the sons of Lot as a possession.9 And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.9 The LORD said to me, "Don't bother the people of Moab or start a war with them. I'm not giving you any of Ar as your property. I have given it to the descendants of Lot."9 Yahweh said to me, "Don't bother Moab, neither contend with them in battle; for I will not give you of his land for a possession; because I have given Ar to the children of Lot for a possession."9 And Jehovah said to me, Distress not the Moabites, neither engage with them in battle; for I will not give thee of their land a possession; for unto the children of Lot have I given Ar as a possession.
 (The Emim lived there formerly, a people as great, numerous, and tall as the Anakim.10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;10 The Emites used to live there. These people were as strong, as numerous, and as tall as the people of Anak.10 (The Emim lived therein before, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim:10 (The Emim dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall as the Anakim.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 Like the Anakim, they are also regarded as Rephaim, but the Moabites call them Emim.11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.11 They were thought to be Rephaim, like the people of Anak, but the Moabites called them Emites.11 these also are accounted Rephaim, as the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim.11 They also are reckoned as giants like the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim.
 The Horites formerly lived in Seir, but the sons of Esau dispossessed them and destroyed them from before them and settled in their place, just as Israel did to the land of their possession which the LORD gave to them.)12 The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.12 The Horites used to live in Seir, but the descendants of Esau claimed their land, wiped them out, and took their place, as Israel did in the land that the LORD gave them.12 The Horites also lived in Seir before, but the children of Esau succeeded them; and they destroyed them from before them, and lived in their place; as Israel did to the land of his possession, which Yahweh gave to them.)12 And in Seir dwelt the Horites in times past; and the children of Esau dispossessed them, and destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did to the land of their possession, which Jehovah gave to them.)
 'Now arise and cross over the brook Zered yourselves.' So we crossed over the brook Zered.13 Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.13 Then the LORD said, "Now cross the Zered River." So we crossed the Zered River.13 "Now rise up, and cross over the brook Zered." We went over the brook Zered.13 Now rise up, and pass over the torrent Zered. And we passed over the torrent Zered.
 "Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed over the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.14 And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.14 Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered River. During that time all our soldiers from that generation died, as the LORD had sworn they would.14 The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty-eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.14 Now the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we had come over the torrent Zered, were thirty-eight years; until the whole generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah had sworn unto them.
 "Moreover the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from within the camp until they all perished.15 For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.15 In fact, it was the LORD himself who got rid of all of them until none were left in the camp.15 Moreover the hand of Yahweh was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.15 Moreover the hand of Jehovah was against them to destroy them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "So it came about when all the men of war had finally perished from among the people,16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,16 When the last of these soldiers had died,16 So it happened, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,16 And it came to pass when all the men of war were consumed, having died off from among the people,
 that the LORD spoke to me, saying,17 That the LORD spake unto me, saying,17 the LORD said to me,17 that Yahweh spoke to me, saying,17 that Jehovah spoke to me, saying,
 'Today you shall cross over Ar, the border of Moab.18 Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:18 "Today you are going to pass by the border of Moab at Ar.18 "You are this day to pass over Ar, the border of Moab:18 Thou art to pass this day over the border of Moab, which is Ar,
 'When you come opposite the sons of Ammon, do not harass them nor provoke them, for I will not give you any of the land of the sons of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to the sons of Lot as a possession.'19 And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.19 When you come near the Ammonites, don't bother them or start a fight with them. I'm not giving you any of the land that I have already given to the descendants of Lot as their property."19 and when you come near over against the children of Ammon, don't bother them, nor contend with them; for I will not give you of the land of the children of Ammon for a possession; because I have given it to the children of Lot for a possession."19 and come near over against the children of Ammon; thou shalt not distress them nor attack them; for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon a possession; for unto the children of Lot have I given it as a possession.
 (It is also regarded as the land of the Rephaim, for Rephaim formerly lived in it, but the Ammonites call them Zamzummin,20 (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;20 This land was thought of as the land of the Rephaim who used to live there, but the Ammonites called them Zamzummim.20 (That also is accounted a land of Rephaim: Rephaim lived therein before; but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim,20 (That also is reckoned a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in time past, and the Ammonites call them Zamzummim;

 a people as great, numerous, and tall as the Anakim, but the LORD destroyed them before them. And they dispossessed them and settled in their place,21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:21 These people were as strong, as numerous, and as tall as the people of Anak. But the LORD wiped them out before the Ammonites came so that the Ammonites claimed their land and took their place.21 a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim; but Yahweh destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and lived in their place;21 a people great, and many, and tall as the Anakim; and Jehovah destroyed them before them, and they dispossessed them, and dwelt in their stead;
 just as He did for the sons of Esau, who live in Seir, when He destroyed the Horites from before them; they dispossessed them and settled in their place even to this day.22 As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:22 The LORD did the same thing for the descendants of Esau, who lived in Seir. Before the descendants of Esau came, he wiped out the Horites so that Esau's descendants claimed their land and took their place. Esau's descendants are still there today.22 as he did for the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from before them; and they succeeded them, and lived in their place even to this day:22 as he did to the children of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, from before whom he destroyed the Horites; and they dispossessed them, and dwelt in their stead, even to this day.
 And the Avvim, who lived in villages as far as Gaza, the Caphtorim who came from Caphtor, destroyed them and lived in their place.)23 And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)23 The same thing happened to the Avvites who lived in villages as far away as Gaza. The Caphtorites, who came from Crete, wiped them out and took their place.23 and the Avvim, who lived in villages as far as Gaza, the Caphtorim, who came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and lived in their place.)23 And the Avvites who dwelt in the hamlets as far as Gazah the Caphtorim, who came out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
 'Arise, set out, and pass through the valley of Arnon. Look! I have given Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land into your hand; begin to take possession and contend with him in battle.24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.24 [The LORD continued,] "Now break camp. Cross the Arnon Valley. I'm going to hand King Sihon of Heshbon, the Amorite, over to you. Fight him, and take possession of his country.24 "Rise up, take your journey, and pass over the valley of the Arnon: behold, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land; begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.24 Rise up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon. Behold, I have given into thy hand Sihon the king of Heshbon, the Amorite, and his land: begin, take possession, and engage with him in battle.
 'This day I will begin to put the dread and fear of you upon the peoples everywhere under the heavens, who, when they hear the report of you, will tremble and be in anguish because of you.'25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.25 Today I will start to make all the people under heaven terrified of you. When they hear about you, they will tremble and shake because of you."25 This day will I begin to put the dread of you and the fear of you on the peoples who are under the whole sky, who shall hear the report of you, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of you."25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples under the whole heaven; who will hear report of thee, and will tremble, and quake because of thee.

 "So I sent messengers from the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,26 From the desert of Kedemoth, I sent messengers to King Sihon of Heshbon with the following offer of peace:26 I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon the king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
 'Let me pass through your land, I will travel only on the highway; I will not turn aside to the right or to the left.27 Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.27 "If you allow us to travel through your country, we'll go straight through and won't ever leave the road.27 "Let me pass through your land: I will go along by the highway, I will turn neither to the right hand nor to the left.27 Let me pass through thy land: by the highway alone will I go; I will neither turn to the right hand nor to the left.
 'You will sell me food for money so that I may eat, and give me water for money so that I may drink, only let me pass through on foot,28 Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;28 We'll pay you in silver for the food we eat and the water we drink. Please let us go through,28 You shall sell me food for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only let me pass through on my feet,28 Thou shalt sell me food for money that I may eat; and thou shalt give me water for money that I may drink; I will only pass through on my feet,
 just as the sons of Esau who live in Seir and the Moabites who live in Ar did for me, until I cross over the Jordan into the land which the LORD our God is giving to us.'29 (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.29 as the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, did for us. We'll keep going until we cross the Jordan River into the land the LORD our God is giving us."29 as the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me; until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which Yahweh our God gives us."29 as the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me, until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which Jehovah our God giveth us.
 "But Sihon king of Heshbon was not willing for us to pass through his land; for the LORD your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, in order to deliver him into your hand, as he is today.30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.30 But King Sihon of Heshbon wouldn't allow us to pass through. The LORD your God made him stubborn and overconfident in order to hand him over to you, as he has now done.30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for Yahweh your God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as at this day.30 But Sihon the king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for Jehovah thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obdurate, that he might give him into thy hand, as it is this day.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "The LORD said to me, 'See, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his land over to you. Begin to occupy, that you may possess his land.'31 And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.31 The LORD said to me, "I have begun to give you Sihon and his country. Go ahead! Take possession of his land."31 Yahweh said to me, "Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before you: begin to possess, that you may inherit his land."31 And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I begin to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin, take possession, that thou mayest possess his land.
 "Then Sihon with all his people came out to meet us in battle at Jahaz.32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.32 Sihon and all his troops came out to meet us in battle at Jahaz.32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Jahaz.32 And Sihon came out against us for battle, he and all his people, to Jahaz.
 "The LORD our God delivered him over to us, and we defeated him with his sons and all his people.33 And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.33 The LORD our God gave Sihon to us, and we defeated him, his sons, and all his troops.33 Yahweh our God delivered him up before us; and we struck him, and his sons, and all his people.33 But Jehovah our God gave him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and his whole people.
 "So we captured all his cities at that time and utterly destroyed the men, women and children of every city. We left no survivor.34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:34 At that time we captured all his cities and claimed them for God by destroying men, women, and children. There were no survivors.34 We took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones; we left none remaining:34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every city, men, and women, and little ones: we let none escape.
 "We took only the animals as our booty and the spoil of the cities which we had captured.35 Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.35 However, we did loot the cities that we captured, taking the cattle and goods.35 only the livestock we took for a prey to ourselves, with the spoil of the cities which we had taken.35 Only the cattle we took as booty for ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "From Aroer which is on the edge of the valley of Arnon and from the city which is in the valley, even to Gilead, there was no city that was too high for us; the LORD our God delivered all over to us.36 From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:36 From Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Valley and the city in that valley as far as Gilead, no city had walls that could keep us out. The LORD our God gave us all of them.36 From Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and [from] the city that is in the valley, even to Gilead, there was not a city too high for us; Yahweh our God delivered up all before us:36 From Aroer, which is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the ravine even to Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: Jehovah our God delivered all before us.
 "Only you did not go near to the land of the sons of Ammon, all along the river Jabbok and the cities of the hill country, and wherever the LORD our God had commanded us.37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbade us.37 But the LORD our God had forbidden you to go anywhere near the land of the Ammonites. So you didn't enter the land along the bank of the Jabbok River or capture the cities in the mountains.37 only to the land of the children of Ammon you didn't come near; all the side of the river Jabbok, and the cities of the hill country, and wherever Yahweh our God forbade us.37 Only thou didst not approach the land of the children of Ammon, the whole border of the river Jabbok, nor the cities of the mountain, nor to whatsoever Jehovah our God had forbidden us.
