He said, | 1 The word of Yahweh came again to me, saying, | 1 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, | 2 "Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Because your heart is lifted up And you have said, 'I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods In the heart of the seas'; Yet you are a man and not God, Although you make your heart like the heart of God-- | 2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: | 2 "Son of man, tell the ruler of Tyre, 'This is what the Almighty LORD says: In your arrogance you say, "I'm a god. I sit on God's throne in the sea." But you're only human and not a god, although you think you are a god. | 2 Son of man, tell the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet you are man, and not God, though you did set your heart as the heart of God-- | 2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyre, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thy heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a �god, I sit in the seat of God, in the heart of the seas, (and thou art a man, and not �God,) and thou settest thy heart as the heart of God: | 3 Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; There is no secret that is a match for you. | 3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: | 3 You think that you are wiser than Daniel and that no secret can be hidden from you. | 3 behold, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that is hidden from you; | 3 behold, thou art wiser than Daniel! nothing secret is obscure for thee; | 4 "By your wisdom and understanding You have acquired riches for yourself And have acquired gold and silver for your treasuries. | 4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: | 4 Because you are wise and understanding, you've made yourself rich. You saved gold and silver in your treasuries. | 4 by your wisdom and by your understanding you have gotten yourself riches, and have gotten gold and silver into your treasures; | 4 by thy wisdom and by thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures; | 5 "By your great wisdom, by your trade You have increased your riches And your heart is lifted up because of your riches-- | 5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches: | 5 Because of your great skill in trading, you've made yourself very wealthy. And they will draw their swords Against the beauty of your wisdom And defile your splendor. | 7 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. | 7 That is why I am going to bring foreigners against you, the most ruthless foreigners among the nations. | 16 "By the abundance of your trade You were internally filled with violence, And you sinned; Therefore I have cast you as profane From the mountain of God. And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the stones of fire. | 16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. | 16 You traded far and wide. So I threw you to the ground and left you in front of the kings so that they could see you. | 17 Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness: I have cast you to the ground; I have laid you before kings, that they may see you. | 17 Thy heart was lifted up because of thy beauty; thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I have cast thee to the ground, I have laid thee before kings, that they may behold thee. | 18 "By the multitude of your iniquities, In the unrighteousness of your trade You profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought fire from the midst of you; It has consumed you, And I have turned you to ashes on the earth In the eyes of all who see you. | 18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. | 18 You dishonored your own holy places because of your many sins and dishonest trade. So I set fire to you to burn you up. I turned you into ashes on the ground in the presence of all who saw you. | 18 By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your traffic, you have profaned your sanctuaries; therefore have I brought forth a fire from the midst of you; it has devoured you, and I have turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all those who see you. | 18 By the multitude of thine iniquities, by the unrighteousness of thy traffic, thou hast profaned thy sanctuaries: and I have brought forth a fire out of the midst of thee it hath consumed thee; and I have brought thee to ashes upon the earth, in the sight of all them that behold thee. | 19 "All who know you among the peoples Are appalled at you; You have become terrified And you will cease to be forever."'" | 19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. | 19 All the nations who knew you are horrified because of you. Then they will know that I am the LORD when I execute judgments in her, And I will manifest My holiness in her. | 22 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her. | 22 Tell it, 'This is what the Almighty LORD says: I'm against you, Sidon. I will show my greatness through you.
