Ephraim’s Iniquity
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
When I would heal Israel, The iniquity of Ephraim is uncovered, And the evil deeds of Samaria, For they deal falsely; The thief enters in, Bandits raid outside,1 When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.1 "Whenever I want to heal Israel, all I can see is Ephraim's sin and Samaria's wickedness. People cheat each other. They break into houses and steal. They rob people in the streets.1 When I would heal Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim is uncovered, also the wickedness of Samaria; for they commit falsehood, and the thief enters in, and the gang of robbers ravages outside.1 When I would heal Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim is discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they practise falsehood; and the thief entereth in, and the troop of robbers assaileth without.
And they do not consider in their hearts That I remember all their wickedness. Now their deeds are all around them; They are before My face.2 And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.2 They don't realize that I remember all the evil things they've done. Now their sins surround them. Their sins are in my presence.2 They don't consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness. Now their own deeds have engulfed them. They are before my face.2 And they say not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now do their own doings encompass them; they are before my face.
With their wickedness they make the king glad, And the princes with their lies.3 They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.3 "They make kings happy with the wicked things they do. They make officials happy with the lies they tell.3 They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.3 They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.
They are all adulterers, Like an oven heated by the baker Who ceases to stir up the fire From the kneading of the dough until it is leavened.4 They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.4 They all commit adultery. They are like a heated oven, an oven so hot that a baker doesn't have to fan its flames when he makes bread.4 They are all adulterers. They are burning like an oven that the baker stops stirring, from the kneading of the dough, until it is leavened.4 They all practise adultery, as an oven heated by the baker: he ceaseth from stirring the fire after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.
On the day of our king, the princes became sick with the heat of wine; He stretched out his hand with scoffers,5 In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.5 On the day of the king's celebration, the officials become drunk from wine, and the king joins mockers.5 On the day of our king, the princes made themselves sick with the heat of wine. He joined his hand with mockers.5 In the day of our king, the princes made themselves sick with the heat of wine: he stretched out his hand to scorners.

For their hearts are like an oven As they approach their plotting; Their anger smolders all night, In the morning it burns like a flaming fire.6 For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.6 They become hot like an oven while they lie in ambush. All night long their anger smolders, but in the morning it burns like a raging fire.6 For they have prepared their heart like an oven, while they lie in wait. Their baker sleeps all the night. In the morning it burns as a flaming fire.6 For they have applied their heart like an oven to their lying in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth like a flaming fire.
All of them are hot like an oven, And they consume their rulers; All their kings have fallen. None of them calls on Me.7 They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.7 They are all as hot as an oven. They consume their judges [like a fire]. All their kings die in battle, and none of them calls to me.7 They are all hot as an oven, and devour their judges. All their kings have fallen. There is no one among them who calls to me.7 They are all hot as an oven, and devour their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.
Ephraim mixes himself with the nations; Ephraim has become a cake not turned.8 Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.8 "Ephraim mixes with other nations. Ephraim, you are like a half-baked loaf of bread.8 Ephraim, he mixes himself among the nations. Ephraim is a pancake not turned over.8 Ephraim, he mixeth himself with the peoples; Ephraim is a cake not turned.
Strangers devour his strength, Yet he does not know it; Gray hairs also are sprinkled on him, Yet he does not know it.9 Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.9 Foreigners are using up your strength, but you don't realize it. You have become a gray-haired, old man, but you don't realize it.9 Strangers have devoured his strength, and he doesn't realize it. Indeed, gray hairs are here and there on him, and he doesn't realize it.9 Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not; yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, and he knoweth it not.
Though the pride of Israel testifies against him, Yet they have not returned to the LORD their God, Nor have they sought Him, for all this.10 And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.10 Israel, your arrogance testifies against you, but even after all this, you don't turn to the LORD your God or look to him for help.10 The pride of Israel testifies to his face; yet they haven't returned to Yahweh their God, nor sought him, for all this.10 And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face; and they do not return to Jehovah their God, nor seek him for all this.

So Ephraim has become like a silly dove, without sense; They call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.11 Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.11 Ephraim, you are like a silly, senseless dove. You call for Egypt and run to Assyria for help.11 "Ephraim is like an easily deceived dove, without understanding. They call to Egypt. They go to Assyria.11 And Ephraim is become like a silly dove without understanding: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.
When they go, I will spread My net over them; I will bring them down like the birds of the sky. I will chastise them in accordance with the proclamation to their assembly.12 When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.12 When you go, I will spread my net over you. I will snatch you out of the air like a bird. I will punish you for all the evil things you have done.12 When they go, I will spread my net on them. I will bring them down like the birds of the sky. I will chastise them, as their congregation has heard.12 When they go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowl of the heavens; I will chastise them, according as their assembly hath heard.
Woe to them, for they have strayed from Me! Destruction is theirs, for they have rebelled against Me! I would redeem them, but they speak lies against Me.13 Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.13 "How horrible it will be for these people. They have run away from me. They must be destroyed because they've rebelled against me. I want to reclaim them, but they tell lies about me.13 Woe to them! For they have wandered from me. Destruction to them! For they have trespassed against me. Though I would redeem them, yet they have spoken lies against me.13 Woe unto them! for they have wandered from me; destruction unto them! for they have transgressed against me. And I would redeem them; but they speak lies against me.
And they do not cry to Me from their heart When they wail on their beds; For the sake of grain and new wine they assemble themselves, They turn away from Me.14 And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.14 They don't pray to me sincerely, even though they cry in their beds and make cuts on their bodies while praying for grain and new wine. They have turned against me.14 They haven't cried to me with their heart, but they howl on their beds. They assemble themselves for grain and new wine. They turn away from me.14 And they cried not unto me in their heart, when they howled upon their beds; they assemble themselves for corn and new wine; they have turned aside from me.
Although I trained and strengthened their arms, Yet they devise evil against Me.15 Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.15 I trained them and made them strong. Yet, they plan evil against me.15 Though I have taught and strengthened their arms, yet they plot evil against me.15 I have indeed trained, I have strengthened their arms, but they imagine mischief against me.

They turn, but not upward, They are like a deceitful bow; Their princes will fall by the sword Because of the insolence of their tongue. This will be their derision in the land of Egypt.16 They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.16 They don't return to the Most High. They are like a defective bow. Their officials will die in battle because they curse. The people in Egypt will ridicule them for this.16 They return, but not to the Most High. They are like a faulty bow. Their princes will fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue. This will be their derision in the land of Egypt.16 They return, but not to the Most High: they are like a deceitful bow. Their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
