Job’s Character and Wealth
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.1 A man named Job lived in Uz. He was a man of integrity: He was decent, he feared God, and he stayed away from evil.1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turned away from evil.1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and this man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God and abstained from evil.
 Seven sons and three daughters were born to him.2 And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.2 He had seven sons and three daughters.2 There were born to him seven sons and three daughters.2 And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
 His possessions also were 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and very many servants; and that man was the greatest of all the men of the east.3 His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.3 He owned 7,000 sheep and goats, 3,000 camels, 1,000 oxen, 500 donkeys, and a large number of servants. He was the most influential person in the Middle East.3 His possessions also were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the children of the east.3 And his substance was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she-asses, and very many servants; and this man was greater than all the children of the east.
 His sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each one on his day, and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.4 His sons used to go to each other's homes, where they would have parties. (Each brother took his turn having a party.) They would send someone to invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.4 His sons went and held a feast in the house of each one on his birthday; and they sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.4 And his sons went and made a feast in the house of each one on his day; and they sent and invited their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
 When the days of feasting had completed their cycle, Job would send and consecrate them, rising up early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, "Perhaps my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did continually.5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.5 When they finished having their parties, Job would send for them in order to cleanse them from sin. He would get up early in the morning and sacrifice burnt offerings for each of them. Job thought, "My children may have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Job offered sacrifices for them all the time.5 It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts." Job did so continually.5 And it was so, when the days of the feasting were gone about, that Job sent and hallowed them; and he rose up early in the morning, and offered up burnt-offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, It may be that my children have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.6 One day when the sons of God came to stand in front of the LORD, Satan the Accuser came along with them.6 Now it happened on the day when God's sons came to present themselves before Yahweh, that Satan also came among them.6 And there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah; and Satan came also among them.
 The LORD said to Satan, "From where do you come?" Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it."7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.7 The LORD asked Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the LORD, "From wandering all over the earth."7 Yahweh said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, "From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it."7 And Jehovah said to Satan, Whence comest thou? And Satan answered Jehovah and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
 The LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil."8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?8 The LORD asked Satan, "Have you thought about my servant Job? No one in the world is like him! He is a man of integrity: He is decent, he fears God, and he stays away from evil."8 Yahweh said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil."8 And Jehovah said to Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God and abstaineth from evil?
 Then Satan answered the LORD, "Does Job fear God for nothing?9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?9 Satan answered the LORD, "Haven't you given Job a reason to fear God?9 Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing?9 And Satan answered Jehovah and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
 "Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.10 Haven't you put a protective fence around him, his home, and everything he has? You have blessed everything he does. His cattle have spread out over the land.10 Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.10 Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is spread abroad in the land.

 "But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face."11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.11 But now stretch out your hand, and strike everything he has. I bet he'll curse you to your face."11 But put forth your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face."11 But put forth thy hand now and touch all that he hath, and see if he will not curse thee to thy face!
 Then the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him." So Satan departed from the presence of the LORD.12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.12 The LORD told Satan, "Everything he has is in your power, but you must not lay a hand on him!" Then Satan left the LORD's presence.12 Yahweh said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don't put forth your hand." So Satan went forth from the presence of Yahweh.12 And Jehovah said to Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy hand; only upon himself put not forth thy hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah.
Satan Allowed to Test Job
 Now on the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:13 One day when Job's sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's home,13 It fell on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house,13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother, the firstborn.

He said, "While the oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby,14 that there came a messenger to Job, and said, "The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys feeding beside them,14 And there came a messenger to Job and said, The oxen were ploughing, and the asses feeding beside them;
 and the Sabeans attacked and took them. They also slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."15 And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.15 men from Sheba attacked. They took the livestock and massacred the servants. I'm the only one who has escaped to tell you."15 and the Sabeans attacked, and took them away. Yes, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."15 and they of Sheba fell upon them and took them, and the servants have they smitten with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.

 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you."16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.16 While he was still speaking, another [messenger] came and said, "A fire from God fell from heaven and completely burned your flocks and servants. I'm the only one who has escaped to tell you."16 While he was still speaking, there also came another, and said, "The fire of God has fallen from the sky, and has burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you."16 While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.
 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three bands and made a raid on the camels and took them and slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.17 While he was still speaking, another [messenger] came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three companies and made a raid on the camels. They took the camels and massacred the servants. I'm the only one who has escaped to tell you."17 While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, "The Chaldeans made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you."17 While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, The Chaldeans made three bands, and fell upon the camels and took them, and the servants have they smitten with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.
 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house,18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:18 While he was still speaking, another [messenger] came and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine at their oldest brother's home18 While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house,18 While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother, the firstborn;
 and behold, a great wind came from across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people and they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you."19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.19 when suddenly a great storm swept across the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It fell on the young people, and they died. I'm the only one who has escaped to tell you."19 and behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you."19 and behold, there came a great wind from over the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they died; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.
 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped.20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,20 Job stood up, tore his robe in grief, and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground and worshiped.20 Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped.20 And Job rose up, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshipped;

 He said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked I shall return there. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD."21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.21 He said, "Naked I came from my mother, and naked I will return. The LORD has given, and the LORD has taken away! May the name of the LORD be praised."21 He said, "Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be the name of Yahweh."21 and he said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: Jehovah gave, and Jehovah hath taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovah!
 Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God.22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.22 Through all this Job did not sin or blame God for doing anything wrong.22 In all this, Job did not sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.22 In all this Job sinned not, nor ascribed anything unseemly to God.
