The Empty Tomb
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb.1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.1 Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary from Magdala went to the tomb. She saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb's entrance.1 Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went early, while it was still dark, to the tomb, and saw the stone taken away from the tomb.1 And on the first day of the week Mary of Magdala comes in early morn to the tomb, while it was still dark, and sees the stone taken away from the tomb.
2 So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him."2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.2 So she ran to Simon Peter and the other disciple, whom Jesus loved. She told them, "They have removed the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they've put him."2 Therefore she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have laid him!"2 She runs therefore and comes to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, to whom Jesus was attached, and says to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.
3 So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb.3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.3 So Peter and the other disciple headed for the tomb.3 Therefore Peter and the other disciple went out, and they went toward the tomb.3 Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and came to the tomb.
4 The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first;4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.4 The two were running side by side, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and came to the tomb first.4 They both ran together. The other disciple outran Peter, and came to the tomb first.4 And the two ran together, and the other disciple ran forward faster than Peter, and came first to the tomb,
5 and stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in.5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.5 He bent over and looked inside the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there but didn't go inside.5 Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he didn't enter in.5 and stooping down he sees the linen cloths lying; he did not however go in.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 And so Simon Peter also came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there,6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,6 Simon Peter arrived after him and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there.6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying,6 Simon Peter therefore comes, following him, and entered into the tomb, and sees the linen cloths lying,
7 and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself.7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.7 He also saw the cloth that had been on Jesus' head. It wasn't lying with the strips of linen but was rolled up separately.7 and the cloth that had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.7 and the handkerchief which was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded up in a distinct place by itself.
8 So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed.8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.8 Then the other disciple, who arrived at the tomb first, went inside. He saw and believed.8 So then the other disciple who came first to the tomb also entered in, and he saw and believed.8 Then entered in therefore the other disciple also who came first to the tomb, and he saw and believed;
9 For as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.9 They didn't know yet what Scripture meant when it said that Jesus had to come back to life.9 For as yet they didn't know the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.9 for they had not yet known the scripture, that he must rise from among the dead.
10 So the disciples went away again to their own homes.10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.10 So the disciples went back home.10 So the disciples went away again to their own homes.10 The disciples therefore went away again to their own home.

11 But Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping; and so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb;11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,11 Mary, however, stood there and cried as she looked at the tomb. As she cried, she bent over and looked inside.11 But Mary was standing outside at the tomb weeping. So, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb,11 But Mary stood at the tomb weeping without. As therefore she wept, she stooped down into the tomb,
12 and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been lying.12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.12 She saw two angels in white clothes. They were sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying. One angel was where Jesus' head had been, and the other was where his feet had been.12 and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.12 and beholds two angels sitting in white garments, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13 And they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him."13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him.13 The angels asked her why she was crying. Mary told them, "They have removed my Lord, and I don't know where they've put him."13 They told her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I don't know where they have laid him."13 And they say to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? She says to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.
14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.14 After she said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there. However, she didn't know that it was Jesus.14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, and didn't know that it was Jesus.14 Having said these things she turned backward and beholds Jesus standing there, and knew not that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?" Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, "Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away."15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.15 Jesus asked her, "Why are you crying? Who are you looking for?" Mary thought it was the gardener speaking to her. So she said to him, "Sir, if you carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I'll remove him."15 Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?" She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away."15 Jesus says to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? Whom seekest thou? She, supposing that it was the gardener, says to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

16 Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, "Rabboni!" (which means, Teacher).16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.16 Jesus said to her, "Mary!" Mary turned around and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabboni!" (This word means "teacher.")16 Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to him, "Rabboni!" which is to say, "Teacher!"16 Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning round, says to him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher.
17 Jesus said to her, "Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.'"17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.17 Jesus told her, "Don't hold on to me. I have not yet gone to the Father. But go to my brothers and sisters and tell them, 'I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"17 Jesus said to her, "Don't hold me, for I haven't yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"17 Jesus says to her, Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God.
18 Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord," and that He had said these things to her.18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the LORD, and that he had spoken these things unto her.18 Mary from Magdala went to the disciples and told them, "I have seen the Lord." She also told them what he had said to her.18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had said these things to her.18 Mary of Magdala comes bringing word to the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had said these things to her.
Jesus among His Disciples
19 So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you."19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.19 That Sunday evening, the disciples were together behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jews. Jesus stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you!"19 When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were locked where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be to you."19 When therefore it was evening on that day, which was the first day of the week, and the doors shut where the disciples were, through fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and says to them, Peace be to you.
20 And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord.20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the LORD.20 When he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were glad to see the Lord.20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad when they saw the Lord.20 And having said this, he shewed to them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced therefore, having seen the Lord.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 So Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you."21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.21 Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you."21 Jesus therefore said to them again, "Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you."21 Jesus said therefore again to them, Peace be to you: as the Father sent me forth, I also send you.
22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:22 After he had said this, he breathed on the disciples and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.22 When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit!22 And having said this, he breathed into them, and says to them, Receive the Holy Spirit:
23 "If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained."23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.23 Whenever you forgive sins, they are forgiven. Whenever you don't forgive them, they are not forgiven."23 Whoever's sins you forgive, they are forgiven them. Whoever's sins you retain, they have been retained."23 whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted to them; whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.24 Thomas, one of the twelve apostles, who was called Didymus, wasn't with them when Jesus came.24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, wasn't with them when Jesus came.24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 So the other disciples were saying to him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.25 The other disciples told him, "We've seen the Lord." Thomas told them, "I refuse to believe this unless I see the nail marks in his hands, put my fingers into them, and put my hand into his side."25 The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."25 The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the mark of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
26 After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, "Peace be with you."26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.26 A week later Jesus' disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Even though the doors were locked, Jesus stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!"26 After eight days again his disciples were inside, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, the doors being locked, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace be to you."26 And eight days after, his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them. Jesus comes, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace be to you.
27 Then He said to Thomas, "Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing."27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.27 Then Jesus said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Take your hand, and put it into my side. Stop doubting, and believe."27 Then he said to Thomas, "Reach here your finger, and see my hands. Reach here your hand, and put it into my side. Don't be unbelieving, but believing."27 Then he says to Thomas, Bring thy finger here and see my hands; and bring thy hand and put it into my side; and be not unbelieving, but believing.
28 Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God.28 Thomas responded to Jesus, "My Lord and my God!"28 Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!"28 Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed."29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.29 Jesus said to Thomas, "You believe because you've seen me. Blessed are those who haven't seen me but believe."29 Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed."29 Jesus says to him, Because thou hast seen me thou hast believed: blessed they who have not seen and have believed.
Why This Gospel Was Written
30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book;30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:30 Jesus performed many other miracles that his disciples saw. Those miracles are not written in this book.30 Therefore Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book;30 Many other signs therefore also Jesus did before his disciples, which are not written in this book;
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.31 But these miracles have been written so that you will believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and so that you will have life by believing in him.31 but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.31 but these are written that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life in his name.
