After these things Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (or Tiberias).1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.1 Jesus later crossed to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (or the Sea of Tiberias).1 After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is also called the Sea of Tiberias.1 After these things Jesus went away beyond the sea of Galilee, or of Tiberias,
A large crowd followed Him, because they saw the signs which He was performing on those who were sick.2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.2 A large crowd followed him because they saw the miracles that he performed for the sick.2 A great multitude followed him, because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick.2 and a great crowd followed him, because they saw the signs which he wrought upon the sick.
Then Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat down with His disciples.3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.3 Jesus went up a mountain and sat with his disciples.3 Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples.3 And Jesus went up into the mountain, and there sat with his disciples:
Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.4 The time for the Jewish Passover festival was near.4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.4 but the passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.
Therefore Jesus, lifting up His eyes and seeing that a large crowd was coming to Him, said to Philip, "Where are we to buy bread, so that these may eat?"5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?5 As Jesus saw a large crowd coming to him, he said to Philip, "Where can we buy bread for these people to eat?"5 Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude was coming to him, said to Philip, "Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?"5 Jesus then, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great crowd is coming to him, says to Philip, Whence shall we buy loaves that these may eat?

This He was saying to test him, for He Himself knew what He was intending to do.6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.6 Jesus asked this question to test him. He already knew what he was going to do.6 This he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.6 But this he said trying him, for he knew what he was going to do.
Philip answered Him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone to receive a little."7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.7 Philip answered, "We would need about a year's wages to buy enough bread for each of them to have a piece."7 Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that everyone of them may receive a little."7 Philip answered him, Loaves for two hundred denarii are not sufficient for them, that each may have some little portion.
One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him,8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,8 One of Jesus' disciples, Andrew, who was Simon Peter's brother, told him,8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him,8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, says to him,
"There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these for so many people?"9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?9 "A boy who has five loaves of barley bread and two small fish is here. But they won't go very far for so many people."9 "There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?"9 There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two small fishes; but this, what is it for so many?
Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.10 Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." The people had plenty of grass to sit on. (There were about 5,000 men in the crowd.)10 Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place: the men therefore sat down, in number about five thousand.

Jesus then took the loaves, and having given thanks, He distributed to those who were seated; likewise also of the fish as much as they wanted.11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.11 Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to the people who were sitting there. He did the same thing with the fish. All the people ate as much as they wanted.11 Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired.11 And Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, distributed them to those that were set down; and in like manner of the small fishes as much as they would.
When they were filled, He said to His disciples, "Gather up the leftover fragments so that nothing will be lost."12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.12 When the people were full, Jesus told his disciples, "Gather the leftover pieces so that nothing will be wasted."12 When they were filled, he said to his disciples, "Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost."12 And when they had been filled, he says to his disciples, Gather together the fragments which are over and above, that nothing may be lost.
So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.13 The disciples gathered the leftover pieces of bread and filled twelve baskets.13 So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.13 They gathered them therefore together, and filled twelve hand-baskets full of fragments of the five barley loaves, which were over and above to those that had eaten.
Therefore when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said, "This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world."14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.14 When the people saw the miracle Jesus performed, they said, "This man is certainly the prophet who is to come into the world."14 When therefore the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said, "This is truly the prophet who comes into the world."14 The men therefore, having seen the sign which Jesus had done, said, This is truly the prophet which is coming into the world.
Jesus Walks on the Water
So Jesus, perceiving that they were intending to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself alone.15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.15 Jesus realized that the people intended to take him by force and make him king. So he returned to the mountain by himself.15 Jesus therefore, perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by himself.15 Jesus therefore knowing that they were going to come and seize him, that they might make him king, departed again to the mountain himself alone.

Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea,16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,16 When evening came, his disciples went to the sea.16 When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,16 But when evening was come, his disciples went down to the sea,
and after getting into a boat, they started to cross the sea to Capernaum. It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.17 They got into a boat and started to cross the sea to the city of Capernaum. By this time it was dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.17 and they entered into the boat, and were going over the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them.17 and having gone on board ship, they went over the sea to Capernaum. And it had already become dark, and Jesus had not come to them,
The sea began to be stirred up because a strong wind was blowing.18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.18 A strong wind started to blow and stir up the sea.18 The sea was tossed by a great wind blowing.18 and the sea was agitated by a strong wind blowing.
Then, when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat; and they were frightened.19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.19 After they had rowed three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea. He was coming near the boat, and they became terrified.19 When therefore they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing near to the boat; and they were afraid.19 Having rowed then about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they see Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the ship; and they were frightened.
But He said to them, "It is I; do not be afraid."20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.20 Jesus told them, "It's me. Don't be afraid!"20 But he said to them, "It is I. Don't be afraid."20 But he says to them, It is I: be not afraid.

So they were willing to receive Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.21 So they were willing to help Jesus into the boat. Immediately, the boat reached the shore where they were going.21 They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat. Immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.21 They were willing therefore to receive him into the ship; and immediately the ship was at the land to which they went.
 The next day the crowd that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other small boat there, except one, and that Jesus had not entered with His disciples into the boat, but that His disciples had gone away alone.22 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;22 On the next day the people were still on the other side of the sea. They noticed that only one boat was there and that Jesus had not stepped into that boat with his disciples. The disciples had gone away without him.22 On the next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except the one in which his disciples had embarked, and that Jesus hadn't entered with his disciples into the boat, but his disciples had gone away alone.22 On the morrow the crowd which stood on the other side of the sea, having seen that there was no other little ship there except that into which his disciples had got, and that Jesus had not gone with his disciples into the ship, but that his disciples had gone away alone;
There came other small boats from Tiberias near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)23 Other boats from Tiberias arrived near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord gave thanks.23 However boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.23 (but other little ships out of Tiberias came near to the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks;)
So when the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they themselves got into the small boats, and came to Capernaum seeking Jesus.24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.24 When the people saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into these boats and went to the city of Capernaum to look for Jesus.24 When the multitude therefore saw that Jesus wasn't there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.24 when therefore the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they got into the ships, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
When they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, "Rabbi, when did You get here?"25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?"25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, "Rabbi, when did you come here?"25 And having found him the other side of the sea, they said to him, Rabbi, when art thou arrived here?

Jesus answered them and said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.26 Jesus replied to them, "I can guarantee this truth: You're not looking for me because you saw miracles. You are looking for me because you ate as much of those loaves as you wanted.26 Jesus answered them, "Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves, and were filled.26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, Ye seek me not because ye have seen signs, but because ye have eaten of the loaves and been filled.
"Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal."27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.27 Don't work for food that spoils. Instead, work for the food that lasts into eternal life. This is the food the Son of Man will give you. After all, the Father has placed his seal of approval on him."27 Don't work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him."27 Work not for the food which perishes, but for the food which abides unto life eternal, which the Son of man shall give to you; for him has the Father sealed, even God.
Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?"28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?28 The people asked Jesus, "What does God want us to do?"28 They said therefore to him, "What must we do, that we may work the works of God?"28 They said therefore to him, What should we do that we may work the works of God?
Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.29 Jesus replied to them, "God wants to do something for you so that you believe in the one whom he has sent."29 Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent."29 Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he has sent.
So they said to Him, "What then do You do for a sign, so that we may see, and believe You? What work do You perform?30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?30 The people asked him, "What miracle are you going to perform so that we can see it and believe in you? What are you going to do?30 They said therefore to him, "What then do you do for a sign, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you do?30 They said therefore to him, What sign then doest thou that we may see and believe thee? what dost thou work?

"Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, 'HE GAVE THEM BREAD OUT OF HEAVEN TO EAT.'"31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.31 Our ancestors ate the manna in the desert. Scripture says, 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'"31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written, 'He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.'"31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.
Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven.32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.32 Jesus said to them, "I can guarantee this truth: Moses didn't give you bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.32 Jesus therefore said to them, "Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn't Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.32 Jesus therefore said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, It is not Moses that has given you the bread out of heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.
"For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world."33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.33 God's bread is the man who comes from heaven and gives life to the world."33 For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world."33 For the bread of God is he who comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.
Then they said to Him, "Lord, always give us this bread."34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.34 They said to him, "Sir, give us this bread all the time."34 They said therefore to him, "Lord, always give us this bread."34 They said therefore to him, Lord, ever give to us this bread.
Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.35 Jesus told them, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never become hungry, and whoever believes in me will never become thirsty.35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.35 And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger, and he that believes on me shall never thirst at any time.

"But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe.36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.36 I've told you that you have seen me. However, you don't believe in me.36 But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don't believe.36 But I have said to you, that ye have also seen me and do not believe.
"All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.37 Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to me.37 All those who the Father gives me will come to me. Him who comes to me I will in no way throw out.37 All that the Father gives me shall come to me, and him that comes to me I will not at all cast out.
"For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.38 I haven't come from heaven to do what I want to do. I've come to do what the one who sent me wants me to do.38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.38 For I am come down from heaven, not that I should do my will, but the will of him that has sent me.
"This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day.39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.39 The one who sent me doesn't want me to lose any of those he gave me. He wants me to bring them back to life on the last day.39 This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day.39 And this is the will of him that has sent me, that of all that he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up in the last day.
"For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.40 My Father wants all those who see the Son and believe in him to have eternal life. He wants me to bring them back to life on the last day."40 This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day."40 For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son, and believes on him, should have life eternal; and I will raise him up at the last day.
Words to the Jews

Therefore the Jews were grumbling about Him, because He said, "I am the bread that came down out of heaven."41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.41 The Jews began to criticize Jesus for saying, "I am the bread that came from heaven."41 The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, "I am the bread which came down out of heaven."41 The Jews therefore murmured about him, because he said, I am the bread which has come down out of heaven.
They were saying, "Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does He now say, 'I have come down out of heaven '?"42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?42 They asked, "Isn't this man Jesus, Joseph's son? Don't we know his father and mother? How can he say now, 'I came from heaven'?"42 They said, "Isn't this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he say, 'I have come down out of heaven?'"42 And they said, Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we have known? how then does he say, I am come down out of heaven?
Jesus answered and said to them, "Do not grumble among yourselves.43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.43 Jesus responded, "Stop criticizing me!43 Therefore Jesus answered them, "Don't murmur among yourselves.43 Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Murmur not among yourselves.
"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.44 People cannot come to me unless the Father who sent me brings them to me. I will bring these people back to life on the last day.44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day.44 No one can come to me except the Father who has sent me draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day.
 "It is written in the prophets, 'AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.45 The prophets wrote, 'God will teach everyone.' Those who do what they have learned from the Father come to me.45 It is written in the prophets, 'They will all be taught by God.' Therefore everyone who hears from the Father, and has learned, comes to me.45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every one that has heard from the Father himself, and has learned of him, comes to me;

"Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.46 I'm saying that no one has seen the Father. 51 "I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh."51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.51 I am the living bread that came from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. The bread I will give to bring life to the world is my flesh."51 I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh."51 I am the living bread which has come down out of heaven: if any one shall have eaten of this bread he shall live for ever; but the bread withal which I shall give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, "How can this man give us His flesh to eat?"52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?52 The Jews began to quarrel with each other. They said, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"52 The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"52 The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can he give us this flesh to eat?
So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.53 Jesus told them, "I can guarantee this truth: If you don't eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don't have the source of life in you.53 Jesus therefore said to them, "Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don't have life in yourselves.53 Jesus therefore said to them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Unless ye shall have eaten the flesh of the Son of man, and drunk his blood, ye have no life in yourselves.
"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.54 Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will bring them back to life on the last day.54 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.54 He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood has life eternal, and I will raise him up at the last day:
"For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.55 My flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.55 for my flesh is truly food and my blood is truly drink.

"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.56 Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood live in me, and I live in them.56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.56 He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood dwells in me and I in him.
"As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me.57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.57 The Father who has life sent me, and I live because of the Father. So those who feed on me will live because of me.57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he who feeds on me, he will also live because of me.57 As the living Father has sent me and I live on account of the Father, he also who eats me shall live also on account of me.
"This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever."58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.58 This is the bread that came from heaven. It is not like the bread your ancestors ate. They eventually died. Those who eat this bread will live forever."58 This is the bread which came down out of heaven--not as our fathers ate the manna, and died. He who eats this bread will live forever."58 This is the bread which has come down out of heaven. Not as the fathers ate and died: he that eats this bread shall live for ever.
Words to the Disciples
These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.59 Jesus said this while he was teaching in a synagogue in Capernaum.59 He said these things in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.59 These things he said in the synagogue, teaching in Capernaum.
Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this said, "This is a difficult statement; who can listen to it?"60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?60 When many of Jesus' disciples heard him, they said, "What he says is hard to accept. Who wants to listen to him anymore?"60 Therefore many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, "This is a hard saying! Who can listen to it?"60 Many therefore of his disciples having heard it said, This word is hard; who can hear it?

But Jesus, conscious that His disciples grumbled at this, said to them, "Does this cause you to stumble?61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?61 Jesus was aware that his disciples were criticizing his message. So Jesus asked them, "Did what I say make you lose faith?61 But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them, "Does this cause you to stumble?61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmur concerning this, said to them, Does this offend you?
"What then if you see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before?62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?62 What if you see the Son of Man go where he was before?62 Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?62 If then ye see the Son of man ascending up where he was before?
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.63 Life is spiritual. Your physical existence doesn't contribute to that life. The words that I have spoken to you are spiritual. They are life.63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.63 It is the Spirit which quickens, the flesh profits nothing: the words which I have spoken unto you are spirit and are life.
"But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him.64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.64 But some of you don't believe." Jesus knew from the beginning those who wouldn't believe and the one who would betray him.64 But there are some of you who don't believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who didn't believe, and who it was who would betray him.64 But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would deliver him up.
And He was saying, "For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father."65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.65 So he added, "That is why I told you that people cannot come to me unless the Father provides the way."65 He said, "For this cause have I said to you that no one can come to me, unless it is given to him by my Father."65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no one can come to me unless it be given to him from the Father.

As a result of this many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore.66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.66 Jesus' speech made many of his disciples go back to the lives they had led before they followed Jesus.66 At this, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.66 From that time many of his disciples went away back and walked no more with him.
So Jesus said to the twelve, "You do not want to go away also, do you?"67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?67 So Jesus asked the twelve apostles, "Do you want to leave me too?"67 Jesus said therefore to the twelve, "You don't also want to go away, do you?"67 Jesus therefore said to the twelve, Will ye also go away?
 Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.68 Simon Peter answered Jesus, "Lord, to what person could we go? Your words give eternal life.68 Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.68 Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast words of life eternal;
"We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God."69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.69 Besides, we believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."69 We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God."69 and we have believed and known that thou art the holy one of God.
Jesus answered them, "Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is a devil?"70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?70 Jesus replied, "I chose all twelve of you. Yet, one of you is a devil."70 Jesus answered them, "Didn't I choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?"70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you the twelve? and of you one is a devil.

Now He meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray Him.71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.71 Jesus meant Judas, son of Simon Iscariot. Judas, who was one of the twelve apostles, would later betray Jesus.71 Now he spoke of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, for it was he who would betray him, being one of the twelve.71 Now he spoke of Judas the son of Simon, Iscariote, for he it was who should deliver him up, being one of the twelve.
