The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish son is a grief to his mother.1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.1 The proverbs of Solomon:+b A wise son makes his father happy, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.1 The Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
Ill-gotten gains do not profit, But righteousness delivers from death.2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.2 Treasures gained dishonestly profit no one, but righteousness rescues from death.2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivereth from death.
The LORD will not allow the righteous to hunger, But He will reject the craving of the wicked.3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.3 The LORD will not allow a righteous person to starve, but he intentionally ignores the desires of a wicked person.3 Yahweh will not allow the soul of the righteous to go hungry, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.3 Jehovah suffereth not the soul of the righteous man to famish; but he repelleth the craving of the wicked.
Poor is he who works with a negligent hand, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.4 Lazy hands bring poverty, but hard-working hands bring riches.4 He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.4 He cometh to want that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
He who gathers in summer is a son who acts wisely, But he who sleeps in harvest is a son who acts shamefully.5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.5 Whoever gathers in the summer is a wise son. Whoever sleeps at harvest time brings shame.5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.6 Blessings cover the head of a righteous person, but violence covers the mouths of wicked people.6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.6 Blessings are upon the head of a righteous man; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.
The memory of the righteous is blessed, But the name of the wicked will rot.7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.7 The name of a righteous person remains blessed, but the names of wicked people will rot away.7 The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.7 The memory of the righteous man shall be blessed; but the name of the wicked shall rot.
The wise of heart will receive commands, But a babbling fool will be ruined.8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.8 The one who is truly wise accepts commands, but the one who talks foolishly will be thrown down headfirst.8 The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.8 The wise in heart receiveth commandments; but a prating fool shall fall.
He who walks in integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will be found out.9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.9 Whoever lives honestly will live securely, but whoever lives dishonestly will be found out.9 He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.9 He that walketh in integrity walketh securely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
He who winks the eye causes trouble, And a babbling fool will be ruined.10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.10 Whoever winks with his eye causes heartache. The one who talks foolishly will be thrown down headfirst.10 One winking with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.10 He that winketh with the eye causeth grief, and a prating fool shall fall.

The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.11 The mouth of a righteous person is a fountain of life, but the mouths of wicked people conceal violence.11 The mouth of the righteous is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.11 The mouth of a righteous man is a fountain of life; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.
Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all transgressions.12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.12 Hate starts quarrels, but love covers every wrong.12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.12 Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all transgressions.
On the lips of the discerning, wisdom is found, But a rod is for the back of him who lacks understanding.13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.13 Wisdom is found on the lips of a person who has understanding, but a rod is for the back of one without sense.13 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.13 In the lips of an intelligent man wisdom is found; but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
Wise men store up knowledge, But with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand.14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.14 Those who are wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of a stubborn fool invites ruin.14 Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.14 The wise lay up knowledge; but the mouth of the fool is near destruction.
The rich man's wealth is his fortress, The ruin of the poor is their poverty.15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.15 The rich person's wealth is [his] strong city. Poverty ruins the poor.15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
The wages of the righteous is life, The income of the wicked, punishment.16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.16 A righteous person's reward is life. A wicked person's harvest is sin.16 The labor of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.16 The labour of a righteous man tendeth to life; the revenue of a wicked man, to sin.
He is on the path of life who heeds instruction, But he who ignores reproof goes astray.17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.17 Whoever practices discipline is on the way to life, but whoever ignores a warning strays.17 He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.17 Keeping instruction is the path to life; but he that forsaketh reproof goeth astray.
He who conceals hatred has lying lips, And he who spreads slander is a fool.18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.18 Whoever conceals hatred has lying lips. Whoever spreads slander is a fool.18 He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.18 He that covereth hatred hath lying lips, and he that sendeth forth a slander is a fool.
When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise.19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.19 Sin is unavoidable when there is much talk, but whoever seals his lips is wise.19 In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; but he that restraineth his lips doeth wisely.
The tongue of the righteous is as choice silver, The heart of the wicked is worth little.20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.20 The tongue of a righteous person is pure silver. The hearts of wicked people are worthless.20 The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.20 The tongue of the righteous man is as choice silver; the heart of the wicked is little worth.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of understanding.21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.21 The lips of a righteous person feed many, but stubborn fools die because they have no sense.21 The lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.21 The lips of a righteous man feed many; but fools die for want of understanding.
It is the blessing of the LORD that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it.22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.22 It is the LORD's blessing that makes a person rich, and hard work adds nothing to it.22 Yahweh's blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.22 The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow to it.
Doing wickedness is like sport to a fool, And so is wisdom to a man of understanding.23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.23 Like the laughter of a fool when he carries out an evil plan, so is wisdom to a person who has understanding.23 It is a fool's pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding's pleasure.23 It is as sport to a foolish man to do wickedness; but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
What the wicked fears will come upon him, But the desire of the righteous will be granted.24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.24 That which wicked people dread happens to them, but [the LORD] grants the desire of righteous people.24 What the wicked fear, will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.24 The fear of a wicked man, it shall come upon him; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.25 When the storm has passed, the wicked person has vanished, but the righteous person has an everlasting foundation.25 When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.25 As a whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more; but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy one to those who send him.26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.26 Like vinegar to the teeth, like smoke to the eyes, so is the lazy person to those who send him [on a mission].26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
The fear of the LORD prolongs life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.27 The fear of the LORD lengthens [the number of] days, but the years of wicked people are shortened.27 The fear of Yahweh prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.27 The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
The hope of the righteous is gladness, But the expectation of the wicked perishes.28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.28 The hope of righteous people [leads to] joy, but the eager waiting of wicked people comes to nothing.28 The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.28 The hope of the righteous is joy; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright, But ruin to the workers of iniquity.29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.29 The way of the LORD is a fortress for an innocent person but a ruin to those who are troublemakers.29 The way of Yahweh is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.29 The way of Jehovah is strength to the perfect man, but destruction to the workers of iniquity.
The righteous will never be shaken, But the wicked will not dwell in the land.30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.30 A righteous person will never be moved, but wicked people will not continue to live in the land.30 The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.30 The righteous man shall never be moved; but the wicked shall not inhabit the land.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
The mouth of the righteous flows with wisdom, But the perverted tongue will be cut out.31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.31 The mouth of a righteous person increases wisdom, but a devious tongue will be cut off.31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.31 The mouth of a righteous man putteth forth wisdom; but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
The lips of the righteous bring forth what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverted.32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.32 The lips of a righteous person announce good will, but the mouths of wicked people are devious.32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.32 The lips of a righteous man know what is acceptable; but the mouth of the wicked is frowardness.
