| 1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread? | 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? | 1 [By David.] The LORD is my light and my salvation. Who is there to fear? The LORD is my life's fortress. Who is there to be afraid of? | 1 Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? | 1 {A Psalm of David.} Jehovah is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? | 2 When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. | 2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. | 2 Evildoers closed in on me to tear me to pieces. My opponents and enemies stumbled and fell. | 2 When evildoers came at me to eat up my flesh, even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell. | 2 When evil-doers, mine adversaries and mine enemies, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. | 3 Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In spite of this I shall be confident. | 3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. | 3 Even though an army sets up camp against me, my heart will not be afraid. Even though a war breaks out against me, I will still have confidence [in the LORD]. | 3 Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident. | 3 If a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; if war rise against me, in this will I be confident. | 4 One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple. | 4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. | 4 I have asked one thing from the LORD. This I will seek: to remain in the LORD's house all the days of my life in order to gaze at the LORD's beauty and to search for an answer in his temple. | 4 One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after, that I may dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life, to see Yahweh's beauty, and to inquire in his temple. | 4 One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of Jehovah, and to inquire of him in his temple. | 5 For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. | 5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. | 5 He hides me in his shelter when there is trouble. He keeps me hidden in his tent. He sets me high on a rock. | 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion. In the covert of his tabernacle he will hide me. | 6 And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. | 6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. | 6 Now my head will be raised above my enemies who surround me. I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy in his tent. I will sing and make music to praise the LORD. | 6 Now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me. I will offer sacrifices of joy in his tent. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to Yahweh. | 6 And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me; and I will offer in his tent sacrifices of shouts of joy: I will sing, yea, I will sing psalms unto Jehovah. | 7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice, And be gracious to me and answer me. | 7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. | 7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud. Have pity on me, and answer me. | 7 Hear, Yahweh, when I cry with my voice. Have mercy also on me, and answer me. | 7 Hear, Jehovah; with my voice do I call; be gracious unto me, and answer me. | 8 When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, O LORD, I shall seek." | 8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. | 8 [When you said,] "Seek my face," my heart said to you, "O LORD, I will seek your face." | 8 When you said, "Seek my face," my heart said to you, "I will seek your face, Yahweh." | 8 My heart said for thee, Seek ye my face. Thy face, O Jehovah, will I seek. | 9 Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation! | 9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. | 9 Do not hide your face from me. Do not angrily turn me away. You have been my help. Do not leave me! Do not abandon me, O God, my savior! | 9 Don't hide your face from me. Don't put your servant away in anger. You have been my help. | 11 Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a level path Because of my foes. | 11 Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. | 11 Teach me your way, O LORD. Lead me on a level path because I have enemies who spy on me. | 11 Teach me your way, Yahweh. Lead me in a straight path, because of my enemies. | 11 Teach me thy way, Jehovah, and lead me in an even path, because of mine enemies. | 12 Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. | 12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. | 12 Do not surrender me to the will of my opponents. False witnesses have risen against me. They breathe out violence. | 12 Don't deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me, such as breathe out cruelty. | 12 Deliver me not over to the will of mine adversaries; for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out violence. | 13 I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. | 13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. | 13 I believe that I will see the goodness of the LORD in this world of the living. | 13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living. | 13 Unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah in the land of the living ...! | 14 Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD. | 14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. | 14 Wait with hope for the LORD. Be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Yes, wait with hope for the LORD. | 14 Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.
