Prayer of a Suffering Penitent.A Psalm of David, for a memorial.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
A Psalm of David, for a memorial. O LORD, rebuke me not in Your wrath, And chasten me not in Your burning anger.1 O lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.1 [A psalm by David; to be kept in mind.] O LORD, do not angrily punish me or discipline me in your wrath.1 Yahweh, don't rebuke me in your wrath, neither chasten me in your hot displeasure.1 {A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.} Jehovah, rebuke me not in thy wrath; neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
For Your arrows have sunk deep into me, And Your hand has pressed down on me.2 For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.2 Your arrows have struck me. Your hand has struck me hard.2 For your arrows have pierced me, your hand presses hard on me.2 For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand cometh down upon me.
There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your indignation; There is no health in my bones because of my sin.3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.3 No healthy spot is left on my body because of your rage. There is no peace in my bones because of my sin.3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation, neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin.3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine indignation; no peace in my bones, because of my sin.
For my iniquities are gone over my head; As a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.4 My guilt has overwhelmed me. Like a heavy load, it is more than I can bear.4 For my iniquities have gone over my head. As a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.4 For mine iniquities are gone over my head: as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
My wounds grow foul and fester Because of my folly.5 My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.5 My wounds smell rotten. They fester because of my stupidity.5 My wounds are loathsome and corrupt, because of my foolishness.5 My wounds stink, they are corrupt, because of my foolishness.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
I am bent over and greatly bowed down; I go mourning all day long.6 I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.6 I am bent over and bowed down very low. All day I walk around in mourning.6 I am pained and bowed down greatly. I go mourning all day long.6 I am depressed; I am bowed down beyond measure; I go mourning all the day.
For my loins are filled with burning, And there is no soundness in my flesh.7 For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.7 My insides are filled with burning pain, and no healthy spot is left on my body.7 For my waist is filled with burning. There is no soundness in my flesh.7 For my loins are full of burning, and there is no soundness in my flesh.
I am benumbed and badly crushed; I groan because of the agitation of my heart.8 I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.8 I am numb and completely devastated. I roar because my heart's in turmoil.8 I am faint and severely bruised. I have groaned by reason of the anguish of my heart.8 I am faint and broken beyond measure; I roar by reason of the agitation of my heart.
Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You.9 Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.9 You know all my desires, O Lord, and my groaning has not been hidden from you.9 Lord, all my desire is before you. My groaning is not hidden from you.9 Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my sighing is not hid from thee.
My heart throbs, my strength fails me; And the light of my eyes, even that has gone from me.10 My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.10 My heart is pounding. I have lost my strength. Even the light of my eyes has left me.10 My heart throbs. My strength fails me. As for the light of my eyes, it has also left me.10 My heart throbbeth, my strength hath left me; and the light of mine eyes, it also is no more with me.

My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague; And my kinsmen stand afar off.11 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.11 My loved ones and my friends keep their distance and my relatives stand far away because of my sickness.11 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague. My kinsmen stand far away.11 My lovers and mine associates stand aloof from my stroke; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
Those who seek my life lay snares for me; And those who seek to injure me have threatened destruction, And they devise treachery all day long.12 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.12 Those who seek my life lay traps for me. Those who are out to harm me talk about ruining me. All day long they think of ways to deceive me.12 They also who seek after my life lay snares. Those who seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and meditate deceits all day long.12 And they that seek after my life lay snares for me; and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and meditate deceits all the day long.
But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; And I am like a mute man who does not open his mouth.13 But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.13 But I am like a person who cannot hear and like a person who cannot speak.13 But I, as a deaf man, don't hear. I am as a mute man who doesn't open his mouth.13 But I, as a deaf man, hear not; and am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
Yes, I am like a man who does not hear, And in whose mouth are no arguments.14 Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.14 I am like one who cannot hear and who can offer no arguments.14 Yes, I am as a man who doesn't hear, in whose mouth are no reproofs.14 Yea, I am as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.
For I hope in You, O LORD; You will answer, O Lord my God.15 For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.15 But I wait with hope for you, O LORD. You will answer, O Lord, my God.15 For in you, Yahweh, do I hope. You will answer, Lord my God.15 For in thee, Jehovah, do I hope: thou wilt answer, O Lord my God.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
For I said, "May they not rejoice over me, Who, when my foot slips, would magnify themselves against me."16 For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.16 I said, "Do not let them gloat over me. When my foot slips, do not let them promote themselves at my expense."16 For I said, "Don't let them gloat over me, or exalt themselves over me when my foot slips."16 For I said, Let them not rejoice over me! When my foot slipped, they magnified themselves against me.
For I am ready to fall, And my sorrow is continually before me.17 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.17 I am ready to fall. I am continually aware of my pain.17 For I am ready to fall. My pain is continually before me.17 For I am ready to halt, and my pain is continually before me.
For I confess my iniquity; I am full of anxiety because of my sin.18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.18 I confess my guilt. My sin troubles me.18 For I will declare my iniquity. I will be sorry for my sin.18 For I will declare mine iniquity, I am grieved for my sin.
But my enemies are vigorous and strong, And many are those who hate me wrongfully.19 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.19 My mortal enemies are growing stronger. Many hate me for no reason.19 But my enemies are vigorous and many. Those who hate me without reason are numerous.19 But mine enemies are lively, they are strong; and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied:
And those who repay evil for good, They oppose me, because I follow what is good.20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.20 They pay me back with evil instead of good, and they accuse me because I try to do what is good.20 They who also render evil for good are adversaries to me, because I follow what is good.20 And they that render evil for good are adversaries unto me; because I pursue what is good.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Do not forsake me, O LORD; O my God, do not be far from me!21 Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.21 Do not abandon me, O LORD. O my God, do not be so distant from me.21 Don't forsake me, Yahweh. My God, don't be far from me.21 Forsake me not, Jehovah; O my God, be not far from me.
Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.22 Come quickly to help me, O Lord, my savior.22 Hurry to help me, Lord, my salvation. For the Chief Musician. For Jeduthun. A Psalm by David.22 Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation.
