The Lost Sheep
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 Now all the tax collectors and the sinners were coming near Him to listen to Him.1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.1 All the tax collectors and sinners came to listen to Jesus.1 Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming close to him to hear him.1 And all the tax-gatherers and the sinners were coming near to him to hear him;
2 Both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them."2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.2 But the Pharisees and the scribes complained, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."2 The Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, "This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them."2 and the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This man receives sinners and eats with them.
3 So He told them this parable, saying,3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,3 Jesus spoke to them using this illustration:3 He told them this parable.3 And he spoke to them this parable, saying,
4 "What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?4 "Suppose a man has 100 sheep and loses one of them. Doesn't he leave the 99 sheep grazing in the pasture and look for the lost sheep until he finds it?4 "Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?4 What man of you having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, does not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
5 "When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.5 When he finds it, he's happy. He puts that sheep on his shoulders and5 When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.5 and having found it, he lays it upon his own shoulders, rejoicing;
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 "And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!'6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.6 goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says to them, 'Let's celebrate! I've found my lost sheep!'6 When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!'6 and being come to the house, calls together the friends and the neighbours, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my lost sheep.
7 "I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.7 I can guarantee that there will be more happiness in heaven over one person who turns to God and changes the way he thinks and acts than over 99 people who already have turned to God and have his approval."7 I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.7 I say unto you, that thus there shall be joy in heaven for one repenting sinner, more than for ninety and nine righteous who have no need of repentance.
The Lost Coin
8 "Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins and loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?8 "Suppose a woman has ten coins and loses one. Doesn't she light a lamp, sweep the house, and look for the coin carefully until she finds it?8 Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn't light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?8 Or, what woman having ten drachmas, if she lose one drachma, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek carefully till she find it?
9 "When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin which I had lost!'9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.9 When she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, 'Let's celebrate! I've found the coin that I lost.'9 When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost.'9 and having found it she calls together the friends and neighbours, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost.
10 "In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.10 So I can guarantee that God's angels are happy about one person who turns to God and changes the way he thinks and acts."10 Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting."10 Thus, I say unto you, there is joy before the angels of God for one repenting sinner.
The Prodigal Son
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 And He said, "A man had two sons.11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:11 Then Jesus said, "A man had two sons.11 He said, "A certain man had two sons.11 And he said, A certain man had two sons;
12 "The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the share of the estate that falls to me.' So he divided his wealth between them.12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.12 The younger son said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the property.' So the father divided his property between his two sons.12 The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of your property.' He divided his livelihood between them.12 and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give to me the share of the property that falls to me. And he divided to them what he was possessed of.
13 "And not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together and went on a journey into a distant country, and there he squandered his estate with loose living.13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.13 "After a few days, the younger son gathered his possessions and left for a country far away from home. There he wasted everything he had on a wild lifestyle.13 Not many days after, the younger son gathered all of this together and traveled into a far country. There he wasted his property with riotous living.13 And after not many days the younger son gathering all together went away into a country a long way off, and there dissipated his property, living in debauchery.
14 "Now when he had spent everything, a severe famine occurred in that country, and he began to be impoverished.14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.14 He had nothing left when a severe famine spread throughout that country. He had nothing to live on.14 When he had spent all of it, there arose a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in need.14 But when he had spent all there arose a violent famine throughout that country, and he began to be in want.
15 "So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.15 So he got a job from someone in that country and was sent to feed pigs in the fields.15 He went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.15 And he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 "And he would have gladly filled his stomach with the pods that the swine were eating, and no one was giving anything to him.16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.16 No one in the country would give him any food, and he was so hungry that he would have eaten what the pigs were eating.16 He wanted to fill his belly with the husks that the pigs ate, but no one gave him any.16 And he longed to fill his belly with the husks which the swine were eating; and no one gave to him.
17 "But when he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have more than enough bread, but I am dying here with hunger!17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!17 "Finally, he came to his senses. He said, 'How many of my father's hired men have more food than they can eat, while I'm starving to death here?17 But when he came to himself he said, 'How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough to spare, and I'm dying with hunger!17 And coming to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have abundance of bread, and I perish here by famine.
18 'I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight;18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,18 I'll go at once to my father, and I'll say to him, "Father, I've sinned against heaven and you.18 I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight.18 I will rise up and go to my father, and I will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee;
19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men."'19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.19 I don't deserve to be called your son anymore. Make me one of your hired men."'19 I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants."'19 I am no longer worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 "So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.20 "So he went at once to his father. While he was still at a distance, his father saw him and felt sorry for him. He ran to his son, put his arms around him, and kissed him.20 "He arose, and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.20 And he rose up and went to his own father. But while he was yet a long way off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell upon his neck, and covered him with kisses.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 "And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.21 Then his son said to him, 'Father, I've sinned against heaven and you. I don't deserve to be called your son anymore.' 21 The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'21 And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee; I am no longer worthy to be called thy son.
22 "But the father said to his slaves, 'Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet;22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:22 "The father said to his servants, 'Hurry! Bring out the best robe, and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.22 "But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe, and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.22 But the father said to his bondmen, Bring out the best robe and clothe him in it, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet;
23 and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate;23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:23 Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let's celebrate with a feast.23 Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat, and celebrate;23 and bring the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and make merry:
24 for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.' And they began to celebrate.24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.24 My son was dead and has come back to life. He was lost but has been found.' Then they began to celebrate.24 for this, my son, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.' They began to celebrate.24 for this my son was dead and has come to life, was lost and has been found. And they began to make merry.
25 "Now his older son was in the field, and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing.25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.25 "His older son was in the field. As he was coming back to the house, he heard music and dancing.25 "Now his elder son was in the field. As he came near to the house, he heard music and dancing.25 And his elder son was in the field; and as, coming up, he drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
26 "And he summoned one of the servants and began inquiring what these things could be.26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.26 He called to one of the servants and asked what was happening.26 He called one of the servants to him, and asked what was going on.26 And having called one of the servants, he inquired what these things might be.
27 "And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has received him back safe and sound.'27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.27 "The servant told him, 'Your brother has come home. So your father has killed the fattened calf to celebrate your brother's safe return.'27 He said to him, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and healthy.'27 And he said to him, Thy brother is come, and thy father has killed the fatted calf because he has received him safe and well.
28 "But he became angry and was not willing to go in; and his father came out and began pleading with him.28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.28 "Then the older son became angry and wouldn't go into the house. His father came out and begged him to come in.28 But he was angry, and would not go in. Therefore his father came out, and begged him.28 But he became angry and would not go in. And his father went out and besought him.
29 "But he answered and said to his father, 'Look! For so many years I have been serving you and I have never neglected a command of yours; and yet you have never given me a young goat, so that I might celebrate with my friends;29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:29 But he answered his father, 'All these years I've worked like a slave for you. I've never disobeyed one of your commands. Yet, you've never given me so much as a little goat for a celebration with my friends.29 But he answered his father, 'Behold, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed a commandment of yours, but you never gave me a goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.29 But he answering said to his father, Behold, so many years I serve thee, and never have I transgressed a commandment of thine; and to me hast thou never given a kid that I might make merry with my friends:
30 but when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.'30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.30 But this son of yours spent your money on prostitutes, and when he came home, you killed the fattened calf for him.'30 But when this, your son, came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.'30 but when this thy son, who has devoured thy substance with harlots, is come, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
31 "And he said to him, 'Son, you have always been with me, and all that is mine is yours.31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.31 "His father said to him, 'My child, you're always with me. Everything I have is yours.31 "He said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.31 But he said to him, Child, thou art ever with me, and all that is mine is thine.
32 But we had to celebrate and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found.'"32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.32 But we have something to celebrate, something to be happy about. This brother of yours was dead but has come back to life. He was lost but has been found.'"32 But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.'"32 But it was right to make merry and rejoice, because this thy brother was dead and has come to life again, and was lost and has been found.
