1 Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart,1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;1 Jesus used this illustration with his disciples to show them that they need to pray all the time and never give up.1 He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up,1 And he spoke also a parable to them to the purport that they should always pray and not faint,
2 saying, "In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man.2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:2 He said, "In a city there was a judge who didn't fear God or respect people.2 saying, "There was a judge in a certain city who didn't fear God, and didn't respect man.2 saying, There was a judge in a city, not fearing God and not respecting man:
3 "There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, 'Give me legal protection from my opponent.'3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.3 In that city there was also a widow who kept coming to him and saying, 'Give me justice.'3 A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, 'Defend me from my adversary!'3 and there was a widow in that city, and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of mine adverse party.
4 "For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, 'Even though I do not fear God nor respect man,4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;4 "For a while the judge refused to do anything. But then he thought, 'This widow really annoys me. Although I don't fear God or respect people,4 He wouldn't for a while, but afterward he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God, nor respect man,4 And he would not for a time; but afterwards he said within himself, If even I fear not God and respect not man,
5 yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.'"5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.5 I'll have to give her justice. Otherwise, she'll keep coming to me until she wears me out.'"5 yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.'"5 at any rate because this widow annoys me I will avenge her, that she may not by perpetually coming completely harass me.

6 And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge said;6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.6 The Lord added, "Pay attention to what the dishonest judge thought.6 The Lord said, "Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.
7 now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them?7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?7 Won't God give his chosen people justice when they cry out to him for help day and night? Is he slow to help them?7 Won't God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?7 And shall not God at all avenge his elect, who cry to him day and night, and he bears long as to them?
8 "I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?8 I can guarantee that he will give them justice quickly. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?"8 I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"8 I say unto you that he will avenge them speedily. But when the Son of man comes, shall he indeed find faith on the earth?
The Pharisee and the Publican
9 And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt:9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:9 Jesus also used this illustration with some who were sure that God approved of them while they looked down on everyone else.9 He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.9 And he spoke also to some, who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and made nothing of all the rest of men, this parable:
10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.10 He said, "Two men went into the temple courtyard to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-gatherer.

11 "The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: 'God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.11 The Pharisee stood up and prayed, 'God, I thank you that I'm not like other people! I'm not a robber or a dishonest person. I haven't committed adultery. I'm not even like this tax collector.11 The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.11 The Pharisee, standing, prayed thus to himself: God, I thank thee that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax-gatherer.
12 'I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.'12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.12 I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my entire income.'12 I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.'12 I fast twice in the week, I tithe everything I gain.
13 "But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!'13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.13 "But the tax collector was standing at a distance. He wouldn't even look up to heaven. Instead, he became very upset, and he said, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!'13 But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn't even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!'13 And the tax-gatherer, standing afar off, would not lift up even his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, have compassion on me, the sinner.
14 "I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.14 "I can guarantee that this tax collector went home with God's approval, but the Pharisee didn't. Everyone who honors himself will be humbled, but the person who humbles himself will be honored."14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."14 I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than that other. For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.
15 And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they began rebuking them.15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.15 Some people brought infants to Jesus to have him hold them. When the disciples saw this, they told the people not to do that.15 They were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. 16 But Jesus called for them, saying, "Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.16 But Jesus called the infants to him and said, "Don't stop the children from coming to me! Children like these are part of the kingdom of God.16 Jesus summoned them, saying, "Allow the little children to come to me, and don't hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.16 But Jesus calling them to him said, Suffer little children to come to me, and do not forbid them, for of such is the kingdom of God.
17 "Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all."17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.17 I can guarantee this truth: Whoever doesn't receive the kingdom of God as a little child receives it will never enter it."17 Most certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn't receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it."17 Verily I say to you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
The Rich Young Ruler
18 A ruler questioned Him, saying, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?18 An official asked Jesus, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"18 A certain ruler asked him, saying, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"18 And a certain ruler asked him saying, Good teacher, having done what, shall I inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.19 Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good except God.19 Jesus asked him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one--God.19 But Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, God.
20 "You know the commandments, 'DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, DO NOT MURDER, DO NOT STEAL, DO NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER.'"20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.20 You know the commandments: Never commit adultery. Never murder. Never steal. Never give false testimony. Honor your father and your mother."20 You know the commandments: 'Don't commit adultery,' 'Don't murder,' 'Don't steal,' 'Don't give false testimony,' 'Honor your father and your mother.'"20 Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

21 And he said, "All these things I have kept from my youth."21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.21 The official replied, "I've obeyed all these commandments since I was a boy."21 He said, "I have observed all these things from my youth up."21 And he said, All these things have I kept from my youth.
22 When Jesus heard this, He said to him, "One thing you still lack; sell all that you possess and distribute it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still need one thing. Sell everything you have. Distribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me!"22 When Jesus heard these things, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have, and distribute it to the poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Come, follow me."22 And when Jesus had heard this, he said to him, One thing is lacking to thee yet: Sell all that thou hast and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in the heavens, and come, follow me.
23 But when he had heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich.23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.23 When the official heard this, he became sad, because he was very rich.23 But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.23 But when he heard this he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.

25 "For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God."25 For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God."25 for it is easier for a camel to enter through a needle's eye than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

29 And He said to them, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,29 Jesus said to them, "I can guarantee this truth: Anyone who gave up his home, wife, brothers, parents, or children because of the kingdom of God29 He said to them, "Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the Kingdom of God's sake,29 And he said to them, Verily I say to you, There is no one who has left home, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

31 Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things which are written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.31 Jesus took the twelve apostles aside and said to them, "We're going to Jerusalem. They will make fun of him, insult him, spit on him,32 For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.32 for he shall be delivered up to the nations, and shall be mocked, and insulted, and spit upon.
33 and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him; and the third day He will rise again."33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.33 whip him, and kill him. Bartimaeus Receives Sight

He said, "Lord, that I may see again."41 What wilt thou that I shall do to thee? And he said, Lord, that I may see.
42 And Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has made you well."42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.42 Jesus told him, "Receive your sight! Your faith has made you well."42 Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you."42 And Jesus said to him, See: thy faith has healed thee.
43 Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him, glorifying God; and when all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.43 Immediately, he could see again.
