1 Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around Him and listening to the word of God, He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret;1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,1 One day Jesus was standing by the Sea of Galilee. 2 and He saw two boats lying at the edge of the lake; but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.2 Jesus saw two boats on the shore. 4 When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch."4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.4 When he finished speaking, he told Simon, "Take the boat into deep water, and lower your nets to catch some fish."4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch."4 But when he ceased speaking, he said to Simon, Draw out into the deep water and let down your nets for a haul.
5 Simon answered and said, "Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets."5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.5 Simon answered, "Teacher, we worked hard all night and caught nothing. But if you say so, I'll lower the nets."5 Simon answered him, "Master, we worked all night, and took nothing; but at your word I will let down the net."5 And Simon answering said to him, Master, having laboured through the whole night we have taken nothing, but at thy word I will let down the net.

9 For amazement had seized him and all his companions because of the catch of fish which they had taken;9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:9 Simon and everyone who was with him was amazed to see the large number of fish they had caught.9 For he was amazed, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish which they had caught;9 For astonishment had laid hold on him, and on all those who were with him, at the haul of fishes which they had taken;
10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men."10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.10 James and John, who were Zebedee's sons and Simon's partners, were also amazed. Jesus told Simon, "Don't be afraid. From now on you will catch people instead of fish."10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Jesus said to Simon, "Don't be afraid. From now on you will be catching people alive."10 and in like manner also on James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not; henceforth thou shalt be catching men.

The Leper and the Paralytic
12 While He was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man covered with leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean."12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.12 One day Jesus was in a city where there was a man covered with a serious skin disease. When the man saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground. He begged Jesus, "Sir, if you want to, you can make me clean." 12 It happened, while he was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man full of leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell on his face, and begged him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean."12 And it came to pass as he was in one of the cities, that behold, there was a man full of leprosy, and seeing Jesus, falling upon his face, he besought him saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou art able to cleanse me.
13 And He stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." And immediately the leprosy left him.13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.13 Jesus reached out, touched him, and said, "I want to. So be clean!" Immediately, his skin disease went away.13 He stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately the leprosy left him.13 And stretching forth his hand he touched him, saying, I will; be thou cleansed: and immediately the leprosy departed from him.
14 And He ordered him to tell no one, "But go and show yourself to the priest and make an offering for your cleansing, just as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."14 And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.14 Jesus ordered him, "Don't tell anyone. Instead, show yourself to the priest. Then offer the sacrifice as Moses commanded as proof to people that you are clean."14 He commanded him to tell no one, "But go your way, and show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing according to what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them."14 And he enjoined him to tell no one; but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing as Moses ordained, for a testimony to them.
15 But the news about Him was spreading even farther, and large crowds were gathering to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses.15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.15 The news about Jesus spread even more. They had come from every village in Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. 18 And some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they were trying to bring him in and to set him down in front of Him.18 And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.18 Some men brought a paralyzed man on a stretcher. They tried to take him into the house and put him in front of Jesus.18 Behold, men brought a paralyzed man on a cot, and they sought to bring him in to lay before Jesus.18 And lo, men bringing upon a couch a man who was paralysed; and they sought to bring him in, and put him before him.
19 But not finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, into the middle of the crowd, in front of Jesus.19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.19 But they could not find a way to get him into the house because of the crowd. So they went up on the roof. They made an opening in the tiles and let the man down on his stretcher among the people. (They lowered him in front of Jesus.)19 Not finding a way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his cot into the midst before Jesus.19 And not finding what way to bring him in, on account of the crowd, going up on the housetop they let him down through the tiles, with his little couch, into the midst before Jesus.
20 Seeing their faith, He said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven you."20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, "Sir, your sins are forgiven."20 Seeing their faith, he said to him, "Man, your sins are forgiven you."20 And seeing their faith, he said, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

21 The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?"21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?21 The scribes and the Pharisees thought, "Who is this man? He's dishonoring God! 22 But Jesus, aware of their reasonings, answered and said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts?22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?22 Jesus knew what they were thinking. So he said to them, "What are you thinking?22 But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, answered them, "Why are you reasoning so in your hearts?22 But Jesus, knowing their reasonings, answering said to them, Why reason ye in your hearts?
23 "Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins have been forgiven you,' or to say, 'Get up and walk '?23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?23 Is it easier to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?23 Which is easier to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you;' or to say, 'Arise and walk?'23 which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
24 "But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,"-- He said to the paralytic-- "I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home."24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.24 I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins." Then he said to the paralyzed man, "Get up, pick up your stretcher, and go home."24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" (he said to the paralyzed man), "I tell you, arise, and take up your cot, and go to your house."24 But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, he said to the paralysed man, I say to thee, Arise, and take up thy little couch and go to thine house.
25 Immediately he got up before them, and picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God.25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.25 The man immediately stood up in front of them and picked up the stretcher he had been lying on. 26 They were all struck with astonishment and began glorifying God; and they were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen remarkable things today."26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.26 Everyone was amazed and praised God. They were filled with awe and said, "We've seen things today we can hardly believe!"26 Amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God. 31 And Jesus answered and said to them, "It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick.31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.31 Jesus answered them, "Healthy people don't need a doctor; those who are sick do.31 Jesus answered them, "Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.31 And Jesus answering said to them, They that are in sound health have not need of a physician, but those that are ill.

34 And Jesus said to them, "You cannot make the attendants of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you?34 And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?34 Jesus asked them, "Can you force wedding guests to fast while the groom is still with them?34 He said to them, "Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast, while the bridegroom is with them?34 And he said to them, Can ye make the sons of the bridechamber fast when the bridegroom is with them?
35 "But the days will come; and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days."35 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.35 The time will come when the groom will be taken away from them. At that time they will fast."35 But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them. Then they will fast in those days."35 But days will come when also the bridegroom will have been taken away from them; then shall they fast in those days.

36 And He was also telling them a parable: "No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.36 And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.36 He also used these illustrations: "No one tears a piece of cloth from a new coat to patch an old coat. Otherwise, the new cloth will tear the old. Besides, the patch from the new will not match the old.36 He also told a parable to them. "No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old garment, or else he will tear the new, and also the piece from the new will not match the old.36 And he spoke also a parable to them: No one puts a piece of a new garment upon an old garment, otherwise he will both rend the new, and the piece which is from the new will not suit with the old.
37 "And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined.37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.37 People don't pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the new wine will make the skins burst. The wine will run out, and the skins will be ruined.37 No one puts new wine into old wineskins, or else the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.37 And no one puts new wine into old skins, otherwise the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be poured out, and the skins will be destroyed;
38 "But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.38 Rather, new wine is to be poured into fresh skins.38 But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.38 but new wine is to be put into new skins, and both are preserved.
39 "And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, 'The old is good enough.'"39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.39 "No one who has been drinking old wine wants new wine. He says, 'The old wine is better!'"39 No man having drunk old wine immediately desires new, for he says, 'The old is better.'"39 And no one having drunk old wine straightway wishes for new, for he says, The old is better.
