Difficult Times Will Come | ||||
NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. | 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. | 1 You must understand this: In the last days there will be violent periods of time. | 1 But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come. | 1 But this know, that in the last days difficult times shall be there; | 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, | 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, | 2 People will be selfish and love money. They will brag, be arrogant, and use abusive language. They will curse their parents, show no gratitude, have no respect for what is holy, | 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, | 2 for men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, evil speakers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, profane, | 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, | 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, | 3 and lack normal affection for their families. They will refuse to make peace with anyone. They will be slanderous, lack self-control, be brutal, and have no love for what is good. | 3 without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, | 3 without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, of unsubdued passions, savage, having no love for what is good, | 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, | 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; | 4 They will be traitors. They will be reckless and conceited. They will love pleasure rather than God. | 4 traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; | 4 traitors, headlong, of vain pretensions, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; | 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. | 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. | 5 They will appear to have a godly life, but they will not let its power change them. Stay away from such people. | 5 holding a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Turn away from these, also. | 5 having a form of piety but denying the power of it: and from these turn away. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
6 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, | 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, | 6 Some of these men go into homes and mislead weak-minded women who are burdened with sins and led by all kinds of desires. | 6 For some of these are people who creep into houses, and take captive gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, | 6 For of these are they who are getting into houses, and leading captive silly women, laden with sins, led by various lusts, | 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. | 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. | 7 These women are always studying but are never able to recognize the truth. | 7 always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. | 7 always learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. | 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. | 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. | 8 As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men oppose the truth. Their minds are corrupt, and the faith they teach is counterfeit. | 8 Even as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these also oppose the truth; men corrupted in mind, who concerning the faith, are rejected. | 8 Now in the same manner in which Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, thus these also withstand the truth; men corrupted in mind, found worthless as regards the faith. | 9 But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes's and Jambres's folly was also. | 9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was. | 9 Certainly, they won't get very far. Like the stupidity of Jannes and Jambres, their stupidity will be plain to everyone. | 9 But they will proceed no further. For their folly will be evident to all men, as theirs also came to be. | 9 But they shall not advance farther; for their folly shall be completely manifest to all, as that of those also became. | 10 Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, | 10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, | 10 But you know all about my teachings, my way of life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, and my endurance. | 10 But you did follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness, | 10 But thou hast been thoroughly acquainted with my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, endurance, | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
11 persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me! | 11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. | 11 You also know about the kind of persecutions and sufferings which happened to me in the cities of Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions, and the Lord rescued me from all of them. | 11 persecutions, and sufferings: those things that happened to me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. I endured those persecutions. Out of them all the Lord delivered me. | 11 persecutions, sufferings: what sufferings happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what persecutions I endured; and the Lord delivered me out of all. | 12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. | 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. | 12 Those who try to live a godly life because they believe in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. | 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. | 12 And all indeed who desire to live piously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. | 13 But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. | 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. | 13 But evil people and phony preachers will go from bad to worse as they mislead people and are themselves misled. | 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. | 13 But wicked men and juggling impostors shall advance in evil, leading and being led astray. | 14 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, | 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; | 14 However, continue in what you have learned and found to be true. You know who your teachers were. | 14 But you remain in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them. | 14 But thou, abide in those things which thou hast learned, and of which thou hast been fully persuaded, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; | 15 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. | 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. | 15 From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures. They have the power to give you wisdom so that you can be saved through faith in Christ Jesus. | 15 From infancy, you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus. | 15 and that from a child thou hast known the sacred letters, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, through faith which is in Christ Jesus. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
