1 Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, | 1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; | 1 From Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ. 6 namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion. | 6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. | 6 A spiritual leader must have a good reputation. He must have only one wife and have children who are believers. He must not be a stubborn or irritable person. He must not drink too much or be a violent person. 11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain. | 11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. | 11 They must be silenced because they are ruining whole families by teaching what they shouldn't teach.
