Cornelius’s Vision
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Now there was a man at Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian cohort,1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,1 A man named Cornelius lived in the city of Caesarea. He was a Roman army officer in the Italian Regiment.1 Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,1 But a certain man in Caesarea, by name Cornelius, a centurion of the band called Italic,
a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, and gave many alms to the Jewish people and prayed to God continually.2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.2 He and everyone in his home were devout and respected God. Cornelius gave many gifts to poor Jewish people and always prayed to God.2 a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.2 pious, and fearing God with all his house, both giving much alms to the people, and supplicating God continually,
About the ninth hour of the day he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God who had just come in and said to him, "Cornelius!"3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.3 One day, about three in the afternoon, he had a vision. He clearly saw an angel from God come to him and say, "Cornelius!"3 At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him, and saying to him, "Cornelius!"3 saw plainly in a vision, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming unto him, And saying to him, Cornelius.
And fixing his gaze on him and being much alarmed, he said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and alms have ascended as a memorial before God.4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.4 He stared at the angel and was terrified. Cornelius asked the angel, "What do you want, sir?" The angel answered him, "God is aware of your prayers and your gifts to the poor, and he has remembered you.4 He, fastening his eyes on him, and being frightened, said, "What is it, Lord?" He said to him, "Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.4 But he, having fixed his eyes upon him, and become full of fear, said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thine alms have gone up for a memorial before God.
"Now dispatch some men to Joppa and send for a man named Simon, who is also called Peter;5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:5 Send messengers now to the city of Joppa, and summon a man whose name is Simon Peter.5 Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is surnamed Peter.5 And now send men to Joppa and fetch Simon, who is surnamed Peter.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
he is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the sea."6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.6 He is a guest of Simon, a leatherworker, whose house is by the sea."6 He lodges with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the seaside."6 He lodges with a certain Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.
When the angel who was speaking to him had left, he summoned two of his servants and a devout soldier of those who were his personal attendants,7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;7 After saying this, the angel left. Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier, one of those who served him regularly.7 When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.7 And when the angel who was speaking to him had departed, having called two of his household and a pious soldier of those who were constantly with him,
and after he had explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.8 Cornelius explained everything to them and sent them to Joppa.8 Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.8 and related all things to them, he sent them to Joppa.
On the next day, as they were on their way and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray.9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:9 Around noon the next day, while Cornelius' men were on their way and coming close to Joppa, Peter went on the roof to pray.9 Now on the next day as they were on their journey, and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon.9 And on the morrow, as these were journeying and drawing near to the city, Peter went up on the house to pray, about the sixth hour.
But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance;10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,10 He became hungry and wanted to eat. While the food was being prepared, he fell into a trance.10 He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.10 And he became hungry and desired to eat. But as they were making ready an ecstasy came upon him:
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 and he saw the sky opened up, and an object like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground,11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:11 He saw the sky open and something like a large linen sheet being lowered by its four corners to the ground.11 He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet let down by four corners on the earth,11 and he beholds the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as a great sheet, bound by the four corners and let down to the earth;
and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air.12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.12 In the sheet were all kinds of four-footed animals, reptiles, and birds.12 in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.12 in which were all the quadrupeds and creeping things of the earth, and the fowls of the heaven.
A voice came to him, "Get up, Peter, kill and eat!"13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.13 A voice told him, "Get up, Peter! Kill these animals, and eat them."13 A voice came to him, "Rise, Peter, kill and eat!"13 And there was a voice to him, Rise, Peter, slay and eat.
But Peter said, "By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean."14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.14 Peter answered, "I can't do that, Lord! I've never eaten anything that is impure or unclean." 14 But Peter said, "Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean."14 And Peter said, In no wise, Lord; for I have never eaten anything common or unclean.
Again a voice came to him a second time, "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy."15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.15 A voice spoke to him a second time, "Don't say that the things which God has made clean are impure." 15 A voice came to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean."15 And there was a voice again the second time to him, What God has cleansed, do not thou make common.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
This happened three times, and immediately the object was taken up into the sky.16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.16 This happened three times. Then the sheet was quickly taken into the sky.16 This was done three times, and immediately the vessel was received up into heaven.16 And this took place thrice, and the vessel was straightway taken up into heaven.
Now while Peter was greatly perplexed in mind as to what the vision which he had seen might be, behold, the men who had been sent by Cornelius, having asked directions for Simon's house, appeared at the gate;17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate,17 While Peter was puzzled by the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found Simon's house and went to the gate.17 Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,17 And as Peter doubted in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold also the men who were sent by Cornelius, having sought out the house of Simon, stood at the gate,
and calling out, they were asking whether Simon, who was also called Peter, was staying there.18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.18 They asked if Simon Peter was staying there.18 and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, was lodging there.18 and having called some one, they inquired if Simon who was surnamed Peter was lodged there.
 While Peter was reflecting on the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men are looking for you.19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.19 Peter was still thinking about the vision when the Spirit said to him, "Three men are looking for you.19 While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men seek you.19 But as Peter continued pondering over the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men seek thee;
"But get up, go downstairs and accompany them without misgivings, for I have sent them Myself."20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.20 Get up, and go downstairs. Don't hesitate to go with these men. I have sent them."20 But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them."20 but rise up, go down, and go with them, nothing doubting, because I have sent them.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Peter went down to the men and said, "Behold, I am the one you are looking for; what is the reason for which you have come?"21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?21 So Peter went to the men. He said, "I'm the man you're looking for. Why are you here?"21 Peter went down to the men, and said, "Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?"21 And Peter going down to the men said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause for which ye come?
They said, "Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man well spoken of by the entire nation of the Jews, was divinely directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and hear a message from you."22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.22 The men replied, "Cornelius, a Roman army officer, sent us. He's a man who has God's approval and who respects God. Also, the Jewish people respect him. A holy angel told him to summon you to his home to hear what you have to say."22 They said, "Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say."22 And they said, Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man, and fearing God, and borne witness to by the whole nation of the Jews, has been divinely instructed by a holy angel to send for thee to his house, and hear words from thee.
So he invited them in and gave them lodging. And on the next day he got up and went away with them, and some of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.23 Peter asked the men to come into the house and had them stay overnight. The next day Peter left with them. Some disciples from Joppa went along.23 So he called them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.23 Having therefore invited them in, he lodged them. And on the morrow, rising up he went away with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa went with him.
On the following day he entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.24 The following day they arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called his relatives and close friends together.24 On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.24 And on the morrow they came to Caesarea. But Cornelius was looking for them, having called together his kinsmen and his intimate friends.
When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell at his feet and worshiped him.25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.25 When Peter was about to enter Cornelius' house, Cornelius met him, bowed down, and worshiped Peter.25 When it happened that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.25 And when Peter was now coming in, Cornelius met him, and falling down did him homage.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
But Peter raised him up, saying, "Stand up; I too am just a man."26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.26 But Peter made him get up. He told him, "Stand up! I'm only a man."26 But Peter raised him up, saying, "Stand up! I myself am also a man."26 But Peter made him rise, saying, Rise up: I myself also am a man.
As he talked with him, he entered and found many people assembled.27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.27 As Peter talked, he entered Cornelius' house and found that many people had gathered.27 As he talked with him, he went in and found many gathered together.27 And he went in, talking with him, and found many gathered together.
And he said to them, "You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a man who is a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit him; and yet God has shown me that I should not call any man unholy or unclean.28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.28 He said to them, "You understand how wrong it is for a Jewish man to associate or visit with anyone of another race. But God has shown me that I should no longer call anyone impure or unclean.28 He said to them, "You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn't call any man unholy or unclean.28 And he said to them, Ye know how it is unlawful for a Jew to be joined or come to one of a strange race, and to me God has shewn to call no man common or unclean.
"That is why I came without even raising any objection when I was sent for. So I ask for what reason you have sent for me."29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?29 That is why I didn't object to coming here when you sent for me. I want to know why you sent for me."29 Therefore also I came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?"29 Wherefore also, having been sent for, I came without saying anything against it. I inquire therefore for what reason ye have sent for me.
Cornelius said, "Four days ago to this hour, I was praying in my house during the ninth hour; and behold, a man stood before me in shining garments,30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,30 Cornelius answered, "Four days ago I was praying at home. It was at this same time, three o'clock in the afternoon. Suddenly, a man dressed in radiant clothes stood in front of me.30 Cornelius said, "Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour, and at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I had been fasting unto this hour, and the ninth I was praying in my house, and lo, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

and he said, 'Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your alms have been remembered before God.31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.31 He said to me, 'Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and has remembered your gifts to the poor.31 and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.31 and said, Cornelius, thy prayer has been heard, and thy alms have come in remembrance before God.
Therefore send to Joppa and invite Simon, who is also called Peter, to come to you; he is staying at the house of Simon the tanner by the sea.'32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.32 So send messengers to Joppa, and summon a man whose name is Simon Peter. He's a guest in the home of Simon, a leatherworker who lives by the sea.'32 Send therefore to Joppa, and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter. He lodges in the house of Simon a tanner, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.'32 Send therefore to Joppa and fetch Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodges in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea who when he is come will speak to thee.
"So I sent for you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here present before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord."33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.33 So I sent for you immediately. Thank you for coming. All of us are here now in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has ordered you to say."33 Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God."33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee, and thou hast well done in coming. Now therefore we are all present before God to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
Gentiles Hear Good News
Opening his mouth, Peter said: "I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality,34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:34 Then Peter said, "Now I understand that God doesn't play favorites.34 Peter opened his mouth and said, "Truly I perceive that God doesn't show favoritism;34 And Peter opening his mouth said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons,
but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him.35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.35 Rather, whoever respects God and does what is right is acceptable to him in any nation.35 but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.35 but in every nation he that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.

"The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all)--36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)36 God sent his word to the people of Israel and brought them the Good News of peace through Jesus Christ. This Jesus Christ is everyone's Lord.36 The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ--he is Lord of all--36 The word which he sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ, (he is Lord of all things,)
you yourselves know the thing which took place throughout all Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed.37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;37 You know what happened throughout Judea. Everything began in Galilee after John spread the news about baptism.37 you yourselves know what happened, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;37 ye know; the testimony which has spread through the whole of Judaea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism which John preached --
"You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.38 You know that God anointed Jesus from Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Jesus went everywhere and did good things, such as healing everyone who was under the devil's power. Jesus did these things because God was with him.38 even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.38 Jesus who was of Nazareth: how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power; who went through all quarters doing good, and healing all that were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
"We are witnesses of all the things He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They also put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross.39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:39 We can testify to everything Jesus did in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. People hung him on a cross and killed him,39 We are witnesses of everything he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they also killed, hanging him on a tree.39 We also are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom they also slew, having hanged him on a cross.
"God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He become visible,40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;40 but God brought him back to life on the third day. God didn't show him40 God raised him up the third day, and gave him to be revealed,40 This man God raised up the third day and gave him to be openly seen,

not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen beforehand by God, that is, to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.41 to all the people. He showed Jesus to witnesses, apostles he had already chosen. We apostles are those men who ate and drank with Jesus after he came back to life.41 not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.41 not of all the people, but of witnesses who were chosen before of God, us who have eaten and drunk with him after he arose from among the dead.
"And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead.42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.42 He ordered us to warn the people, 'God has appointed Jesus to judge the living and the dead.'42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.42 And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that he it is who was determinately appointed of God to be judge of living and dead.
"Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins."43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.43 In addition, all the prophets testify that people who believe in the one named Jesus receive forgiveness for their sins through him."43 All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins."43 To him all the prophets bear witness that every one that believes on him will receive through his name remission of sins.
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message.44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.44 While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit came to everyone who heard his message.44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.44 While Peter was yet speaking these words the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were hearing the word.
All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.45 All the believers who were circumcised and who had come with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured on people who were not Jewish.45 They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.45 And the faithful of the circumcision were astonished, as many as came with Peter, that upon the nations also the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out:

For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered,46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,46 They heard these non-Jewish people speaking in other languages and praising God. Then Peter said,46 For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,46 for they heard them speaking with tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,
"Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?"47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?47 "No one can refuse to baptize these people with water. They have received the Holy Spirit in the same way that we did."47 "Can any man forbid the water, that these who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we should not be baptized?"47 Can any one forbid water that these should not be baptised, who have received the Holy Spirit as we also did?
And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.48 So Peter ordered that they should be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for several days.48 He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.48 And he commanded them to be baptised in the name of the Lord. Then they begged him to stay some days.
