1 Paul came also to Derbe and to Lystra. And a disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek,1 Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:1 Paul arrived in the city of Derbe and then went to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived. 2 and he was well spoken of by the brethren who were in Lystra and Iconium.2 Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.2 The believers in Lystra and Iconium spoke well of Timothy.2 The brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium gave a good testimony about him.2 who had a good testimony of the brethren in Lystra and Iconium.
3 Paul wanted this man to go with him; and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.3 Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.3 Paul wanted Timothy to go with him. We concluded that God had called us to tell the people of Macedonia about the Good News.10 When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the Good News to them.10 And when he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go forth to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to announce to them the glad tidings.

11 So putting out to sea from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and on the day following to Neapolis;11 Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;11 So we took a ship from Troas and sailed straight to the island of Samothrace. First Convert in Europe
14 A woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.14 A woman named Lydia was present. She was a convert to Judaism from the city of Thyatira and sold purple dye for a living. She was listening because the Lord made her willing to pay attention to what Paul said.14 A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one who worshiped God, heard us; whose heart the Lord opened to listen to the things which were spoken by Paul.14 And a certain woman, by name Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, heard; whose heart the Lord opened to attend to the things spoken by Paul.
15 And when she and her household had been baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.15 When Lydia and her family were baptized, she invited us to stay at her home. She said, "If you're convinced that I believe in the Lord, then stay at my home." She insisted. So we did.15 When she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and stay." So she persuaded us.15 And when she had been baptised and her house, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and abide there. And she constrained us.

16 It happened that as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave-girl having a spirit of divination met us, who was bringing her masters much profit by fortune-telling.16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:16 One day when we were going to the place of prayer, a female servant met us. She was possessed by an evil spirit that told fortunes. She made a lot of money for her owners by telling fortunes.16 It happened, as we were going to prayer, that a certain girl having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by fortune telling.16 And it came to pass as we were going to prayer that a certain female slave, having a spirit of Python, met us, who brought much profit to her masters by prophesying.
17 Following after Paul and us, she kept crying out, saying, "These men are bond-servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation."17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.17 She used to follow Paul and shout, "These men are servants of the Most High God. They're telling you how you can be saved."17 Following Paul and us, she cried out, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us a way of salvation!"17 She, having followed Paul and us, cried saying, These men are bondmen of the Most High God, who announce to you the way of salvation.
18 She continued doing this for many days. But Paul was greatly annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!" And it came out at that very moment.18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.18 She kept doing this for many days. Paul became annoyed, turned to the evil spirit, and said, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!" As Paul said this, the evil spirit left her.18 She was doing this for many days. But Paul, becoming greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!" It came out that very hour.18 And this she did many days. And Paul, being distressed, turned, and said to the spirit, I enjoin thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out the same hour.
19 But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the market place before the authorities,19 And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,19 When her owners realized that their hope of making money was gone, they grabbed Paul and Silas and dragged them to the authorities in the public square.19 But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas, and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers.19 And her masters, seeing that the hope of their gains was gone, having seized Paul and Silas, dragged them into the market before the magistrates;
20 and when they had brought them to the chief magistrates, they said, "These men are throwing our city into confusion, being Jews,20 And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,20 In front of the Roman officials, they said, "These men are stirring up a lot of trouble in our city. They're Jews,20 When they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, "These men, being Jews, are agitating our city,20 and having brought them up to the praetors, said, These men utterly trouble our city, being Jews,

Paul and Silas Imprisoned
22 The crowd rose up together against them, and the chief magistrates tore their robes off them and proceeded to order them to be beaten with rods.22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.22 The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas. Then the officials tore the clothes off Paul and Silas and ordered [the guards] to beat them with sticks.22 The multitude rose up together against them, and the magistrates tore their clothes off of them, and commanded them to be beaten with rods.22 And the crowd rose up too against them; and the praetors, having torn off their clothes, commanded to scourge them.

28 But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!"28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.28 But Paul shouted as loudly as he could, "Don't hurt yourself! The Jailer Converted

31 They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.31 They answered, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you and your family will be saved."31 They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.
32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house.32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.32 They spoke the Lord's word to the jailer and everyone in his home.32 They spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house.32 And they spoke to him the word of the Lord, with all that were in his house.

36 And the jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, "The chief magistrates have sent to release you. Therefore come out now and go in peace."36 And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.36 The jailer reported this order to Paul by saying, "The officials have sent word to release you. So you can leave peacefully now."36 The jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, "The magistrates have sent to let you go; now therefore come out, and go in peace."36 And the jailor reported these words to Paul: The praetors have sent that ye may be let go. Now therefore go out and depart in peace.
37 But Paul said to them, "They have beaten us in public without trial, men who are Romans, and have thrown us into prison; and now are they sending us away secretly? No indeed! But let them come themselves and bring us out."37 But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.37 But Paul told the guards, "Roman officials have had us beaten publicly without a trial and have thrown us in jail, even though we're Roman citizens. Now are they going to throw us out secretly? There's no way they're going to get away with that! Have them escort us out!"37 But Paul said to them, "They have beaten us publicly, without a trial, men who are Romans, and have cast us into prison! Do they now release us secretly? No, most certainly, but let them come themselves and bring us out!"37 But Paul said to them, Having beaten us publicly uncondemned, us who are Romans, they have cast us into prison, and now they thrust us out secretly? no, indeed, but let them come themselves and bring us out.
38 The policemen reported these words to the chief magistrates. They were afraid when they heard that they were Romans,38 And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans.38 The guards reported to the officials what Paul had said. When the Roman officials heard that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens, they were afraid.38 The sergeants reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans,38 And the lictors reported these words to the praetors. And they were afraid when they heard they were Romans.
39 and they came and appealed to them, and when they had brought them out, they kept begging them to leave the city.39 And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.39 So the officials went to the jail and apologized to Paul and Silas. As the officials escorted Paul and Silas out of the jail, they asked them to leave the city.39 and they came and begged them. When they had brought them out, they asked them to depart from the city.39 And they came and besought them, and having brought them out, asked them to go out of the city.
40 They went out of the prison and entered the house of Lydia, and when they saw the brethren, they encouraged them and departed.40 And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.40 After Paul and Silas left the jail, they went to Lydia's house. They met with the believers, encouraged them, and then left.40 They went out of the prison, and entered into Lydia's house. When they had seen the brothers, they encouraged them, and departed.40 And having gone out of the prison, they came to Lydia; and having seen the brethren, they exhorted them and went away.
