Stephen’s Defense
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 The high priest said, "Are these things so?"1 Then said the high priest, Are these things so?1 Then the chief priest asked Stephen, "Is this true?"1 The high priest said, "Are these things so?"1 And the high priest said, Are these things then so?
 And he said, "Hear me, brethren and fathers! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,2 And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,2 Stephen answered, "Brothers and fathers, listen to me. The God who reveals his glory appeared to our ancestor Abraham in Mesopotamia. This happened before Abraham lived in Haran.2 He said, "Brothers and fathers, listen. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,2 And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
 and said to him, 'LEAVE YOUR COUNTRY AND YOUR RELATIVES, AND COME INTO THE LAND THAT I WILL SHOW YOU.'3 And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.3 God told him, 'Leave your land and your relatives. Go to the land that I will show you.'3 and said to him, 'Get out of your land, and from your relatives, and come into a land which I will show you.'3 and said to him, Go out of thy land and out of thy kindred, and come into the land which I will shew thee.
 "Then he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. From there, after his father died, God had him move to this country in which you are now living.4 Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.4 "Then Abraham left the country of Chaldea and lived in the city of Haran. After his father died, God made him move from there to this land where we now live.4 Then he came out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and lived in Haran. From there, when his father was dead, God moved him into this land, where you are now living.4 Then going out of the land of the Chaldeans he dwelt in Charran, and thence, after his father died, he removed him into this land in which ye now dwell.
 "But He gave him no inheritance in it, not even a foot of ground, and yet, even when he had no child, He promised that HE WOULD GIVE IT TO HIM AS A POSSESSION, AND TO HIS DESCENDANTS AFTER HIM.5 And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.5 "Yet, God didn't give Abraham anything in this land to call his own, not even a place to rest his feet. But God promised to give this land to him and to his descendants, even though Abraham didn't have a child.5 He gave him no inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on. He promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when he still had no child.5 And he did not give him an inheritance in it, not even what his foot could stand on; and promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when he had no child.

 "But God spoke to this effect, that his DESCENDANTS WOULD BE ALIENS IN A FOREIGN LAND, AND THAT THEY WOULD BE ENSLAVED AND MISTREATED FOR FOUR HUNDRED YEARS.6 And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.6 God told Abraham that his descendants would be foreigners living in another country and that the people there would make them slaves and mistreat them for 400 years.6 God spoke in this way: that his seed would live as aliens in a strange land, and that they would be enslaved and mistreated for four hundred years.6 And God spoke thus: His seed shall be a sojourner in a strange land, and they shall enslave them and evil entreat them four hundred years;
 "'AND WHATEVER NATION TO WHICH THEY WILL BE IN BONDAGE I MYSELF WILL JUDGE,' said God, 'AND AFTER THAT THEY WILL COME OUT AND SERVE ME IN THIS PLACE.'7 And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.7 God also told him, 'I will punish the people whom they will serve. After that, they will leave that country and worship me here.'7 'I will judge the nation to which they will be in bondage,' said God, 'and after that will they come out, and serve me in this place.'7 and the nation to which they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God; and after these things they shall come forth and serve me in this place.
 "And He gave him the covenant of circumcision; and so Abraham became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob of the twelve patriarchs.8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.8 "God gave Abraham circumcision to confirm his promise. So when Abraham's son Isaac was born, Abraham circumcised him on the eighth day. Isaac did the same to his son Jacob, and Jacob did the same to his twelve sons (the ancestors of our tribes). 8 He gave him the covenant of circumcision. So Abraham became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day. Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.8 And he gave to him the covenant of circumcision; and thus he begat Isaac and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac Jacob, and Jacob the twelve patriarchs.
 "The patriarchs became jealous of Joseph and sold him into Egypt. Yet God was with him,9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,9 "Jacob's sons were jealous of their brother Joseph. They sold him into slavery, and he was taken to Egypt. But God was with Joseph9 "The patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold him into Egypt. God was with him,9 And the patriarchs, envying Joseph, sold him away into Egypt. And God was with him,
 and rescued him from all his afflictions, and granted him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and he made him governor over Egypt and all his household.10 And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.10 and rescued him from all his suffering. When Joseph stood in the presence of Pharaoh (the king of Egypt), God gave Joseph divine favor and wisdom so that he became ruler of Egypt and of Pharaoh's whole palace. 10 and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. He made him governor over Egypt and all his house.10 and delivered him out of all his tribulations, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he appointed him chief over Egypt and all his house.

 "Now a famine came over all Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction with it, and our fathers could find no food.11 Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.11 Then a famine throughout Egypt and Canaan brought a lot of suffering. Our ancestors couldn't find any food.11 Now a famine came over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction. Our fathers found no food.11 But a famine came upon all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great distress, and our fathers found no food.
 "But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent our fathers there the first time.12 But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.12 When Jacob heard that Egypt had food, he sent our ancestors there. That was their first trip.12 But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers the first time.12 But Jacob, having heard of there being corn in Egypt, sent out our fathers first;
 "On the second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and Joseph's family was disclosed to Pharaoh.13 And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph's kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.13 On the second trip, Joseph told his brothers who he was, and Pharaoh learned about Joseph's family.13 On the second time Joseph was made known to his brothers, and Joseph's race was revealed to Pharaoh.13 and the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren, and the family of Joseph became known to Pharaoh.
 "Then Joseph sent word and invited Jacob his father and all his relatives to come to him, seventy-five persons in all.14 Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.14 Joseph sent for his father Jacob and his relatives, 75 people in all.14 Joseph sent, and summoned Jacob, his father, and all his relatives, seventy-five souls.14 And Joseph sent and called down to him his father Jacob and all his kindred, seventy-five souls.
 "And Jacob went down to Egypt and there he and our fathers died.15 So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers,15 So Jacob went to Egypt, and he and our ancestors died there.15 Jacob went down into Egypt, and he died, himself and our fathers,15 And Jacob went down into Egypt and died, he and our fathers,

 "From there they were removed to Shechem and laid in the tomb which Abraham had purchased for a sum of money from the sons of Hamor in Shechem.16 And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.16 They were taken to Shechem for burial in the tomb that Abraham purchased in Shechem from Hamor's sons.16 and they were brought back to Shechem, and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in silver from the children of Hamor of Shechem.16 and were carried over to Sychem and placed in the sepulchre which Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.
 "But as the time of the promise was approaching which God had assured to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,17 But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,17 "When the time that God had promised to Abraham had almost come, the number of our people in Egypt had grown very large.17 "But as the time of the promise came close which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,17 But as the time of promise drew near which God had promised to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,
 until THERE AROSE ANOTHER KING OVER EGYPT WHO KNEW NOTHING ABOUT JOSEPH.18 Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.18 Then a different king, who knew nothing about Joseph, began to rule in Egypt.18 until there arose a different king, who didn't know Joseph.18 until another king over Egypt arose who did not know Joseph.
 "It was he who took shrewd advantage of our race and mistreated our fathers so that they would expose their infants and they would not survive.19 The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.19 This king was shrewd in the way he took advantage of our people. He mistreated our ancestors. He made them abandon their newborn babies outdoors, where they would die.19 The same took advantage of our race, and mistreated our fathers, and forced them to throw out their babies, so that they wouldn't stay alive.19 He dealt subtilly with our race, and evil entreated the fathers, casting out their infants that they might not live.
 "It was at this time that Moses was born; and he was lovely in the sight of God, and he was nurtured three months in his father's home.20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father's house three months:20 "At that time Moses was born, and he was a very beautiful child. His parents took care of him for three months.20 At that time Moses was born, and was exceedingly handsome. He was nourished three months in his father's house.20 In which time Moses was born, and was exceedingly lovely, who was nourished three months in the house of his father.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "And after he had been set outside, Pharaoh's daughter took him away and nurtured him as her own son.21 And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.21 When Moses was abandoned outdoors, Pharaoh's daughter adopted him and raised him as her son.21 When he was thrown out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and reared him as her own son.21 And when he was cast out, the daughter of Pharaoh took him up, and brought him up for herself to be for a son.
 "Moses was educated in all the learning of the Egyptians, and he was a man of power in words and deeds.22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.22 So Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and became a great man in what he said and did.22 Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. He was mighty in his words and works.22 And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in his words and deeds.
 "But when he was approaching the age of forty, it entered his mind to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel.23 And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.23 When he was 40 years old, he decided to visit his own people, the Israelites.23 But when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brothers, the children of Israel.23 And when a period of forty years was fulfilled to him, it came into his heart to look upon his brethren, the sons of Israel;
 "And when he saw one of them being treated unjustly, he defended him and took vengeance for the oppressed by striking down the Egyptian.24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:24 When he saw an Israelite man being treated unfairly by an Egyptian, he defended the Israelite. He took revenge by killing the Egyptian.24 Seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him who was oppressed, striking the Egyptian.24 and seeing a certain one wronged, he defended him, and avenged him that was being oppressed, smiting the Egyptian.
 "And he supposed that his brethren understood that God was granting them deliverance through him, but they did not understand.25 For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.25 Moses thought his own people would understand that God was going to use him to give them freedom. But they didn't understand.25 He supposed that his brothers understood that God, by his hand, was giving them deliverance; but they didn't understand.25 For he thought that his brethren would understand that God by his hand was giving them deliverance. But they understood not.

 "On the following day he appeared to them as they were fighting together, and he tried to reconcile them in peace, saying, 'Men, you are brethren, why do you injure one another?'26 And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?26 The next day Moses saw two Israelites fighting, and he tried to make peace between them. He said to them, 'Men, you are brothers. Why are you treating each other unfairly?'26 "The day following, he appeared to them as they fought, and urged them to be at peace again, saying, 'Sirs, you are brothers. Why do you wrong one another?'26 And on the morrow he shewed himself to them as they were contending, and compelled them to peace, saying, Ye are brethren, why do ye wrong one another?
 "But the one who was injuring his neighbor pushed him away, saying, 'WHO MADE YOU A RULER AND JUDGE OVER US?27 But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?27 "But one of the men pushed Moses aside. He asked Moses, 'Who made you our ruler and judge?27 But he who did his neighbor wrong pushed him away, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?27 But he that was wronging his neighbour thrust him away, saying, Who established thee ruler and judge over us?
 'YOU DO NOT MEAN TO KILL ME AS YOU KILLED THE EGYPTIAN YESTERDAY, DO YOU?'28 Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?28 Do you want to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?'28 Do you want to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?'28 Dost thou wish to kill me as thou killedst the Egyptian yesterday?
 "At this remark, MOSES FLED AND BECAME AN ALIEN IN THE LAND OF MIDIAN, where he became the father of two sons.29 Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.29 After he said that, Moses quickly left Egypt and lived in Midian as a foreigner. In Midian he fathered two sons.29 Moses fled at this saying, and became a stranger in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.29 And Moses fled at this saying, and became a sojourner in the land of Madiam, where he begat two sons.
 "After forty years had passed, AN ANGEL APPEARED TO HIM IN THE WILDERNESS OF MOUNT Sinai, IN THE FLAME OF A BURNING THORN BUSH.30 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.30 "Forty years later, a messenger appeared to him in the flames of a burning bush in the desert of Mount Sinai.30 "When forty years were fulfilled, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.30 And when forty years were fulfilled, an angel appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sinai, in a flame of fire of a bush.

 "When Moses saw it, he marveled at the sight; and as he approached to look more closely, there came the voice of the Lord:31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the LORD came unto him,31 Moses was surprised when he saw this. As he went closer to look at the bush, the voice of the Lord said to him,31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight. As he came close to see, a voice of the Lord came to him,31 And Moses seeing it wondered at the vision; and as he went up to consider it, there was a voice of the Lord,
 'I AM THE GOD OF YOUR FATHERS, THE GOD OF ABRAHAM AND ISAAC AND JACOB.' Moses shook with fear and would not venture to look.32 Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.32 'I am the God of your ancestors-the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.' Moses began to tremble and didn't dare to look at the bush.32 'I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' Moses trembled, and dared not look.32 I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob. And Moses trembled, and durst not consider it.
 "BUT THE LORD SAID TO HIM, 'TAKE OFF THE SANDALS FROM YOUR FEET, FOR THE PLACE ON WHICH YOU ARE STANDING IS HOLY GROUND.33 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.33 The Lord told him, 'Take off your sandals. The place where you're standing is holy ground.33 The Lord said to him, 'Take your sandals off of your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.33 And the Lord said to him, Loose the sandal of thy feet, for the place on which thou standest is holy ground.
 'I HAVE CERTAINLY SEEN THE OPPRESSION OF MY PEOPLE IN EGYPT AND HAVE HEARD THEIR GROANS, AND I HAVE COME DOWN TO RESCUE THEM; COME NOW, AND I WILL SEND YOU TO EGYPT.'34 I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.34 I've seen how my people are mistreated in Egypt. I've heard their groaning and have come to rescue them. So now I'm sending you to Egypt.'34 I have surely seen the affliction of my people that is in Egypt, and have heard their groaning. I have come down to deliver them. Now come, I will send you into Egypt.'34 I have surely seen the ill treatment of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groan, and have come down to take them out of it; and now, come, I will send thee to Egypt.
 "This Moses whom they disowned, saying, 'WHO MADE YOU A RULER AND A JUDGE?' is the one whom God sent to be both a ruler and a deliverer with the help of the angel who appeared to him in the thorn bush.35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.35 "This is the Moses whom the Israelites rejected by saying, 'Who made you our ruler and judge?' This is the one God sent to free them and to rule them with the help of the messenger who appeared to him in the bush.35 "This Moses, whom they refused, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge?'--God has sent him as both a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.35 This Moses, whom they refused, saying, Who made thee ruler and judge? him did God send to be a ruler and deliverer with the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

 "This man led them out, performing wonders and signs in the land of Egypt and in the Red Sea and in the wilderness for forty years.36 He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.36 This is the man who led our ancestors out of Egypt. He is the person who did amazing things and worked miracles in Egypt, at the Red Sea, and in the desert for 40 years.36 This man led them out, having worked wonders and signs in Egypt, in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness for forty years.36 He led them out, having wrought wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
 "This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, 'GOD WILL RAISE UP FOR YOU A PROPHET LIKE ME FROM YOUR BRETHREN.'37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.37 This is the same Moses who told the Israelites, 'God will send you a prophet, an Israelite like me.'37 This is that Moses, who said to the children of Israel, 'The Lord our God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me.'37 This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, A prophet shall God raise up to you out of your brethren like me him shall ye hear.
 "This is the one who was in the congregation in the wilderness together with the angel who was speaking to him on Mount Sinai, and who was with our fathers; and he received living oracles to pass on to you.38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:38 This is the Moses who was in the assembly in the desert. Our ancestors and the messenger who spoke to him on Mount Sinai were there with him. Moses received life-giving messages to give to us,38 This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness with the angel that spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who received living oracles to give to us,38 This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness, with the angel who spoke to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers; who received living oracles to give to us;
 "Our fathers were unwilling to be obedient to him, but repudiated him and in their hearts turned back to Egypt,39 To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,39 but our ancestors were not willing to obey him. Instead, they pushed him aside, and in their hearts they turned back to Egypt.39 to whom our fathers wouldn't be obedient, but rejected him, and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,39 to whom our fathers would not be subject, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back to Egypt,
 SAYING TO AARON, 'MAKE FOR US GODS WHO WILL GO BEFORE US; FOR THIS MOSES WHO LED US OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT-- WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM.'40 Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.40 They told Aaron, 'We don't know what has happened to this Moses, who led us out of Egypt. So make gods who will lead us.'40 saying to Aaron, 'Make us gods that will go before us, for as for this Moses, who led us out of the land of Egypt, we don't know what has become of him.'40 saying to Aaron, Make us gods who shall go before us; for this Moses, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what has happened to him.

 "At that time they made a calf and brought a sacrifice to the idol, and were rejoicing in the works of their hands.41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.41 That was the time they made a calf. They offered a sacrifice to that false god and delighted in what they had made.41 They made a calf in those days, and brought a sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their hands.41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
 "But God turned away and delivered them up to serve the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, 'IT WAS NOT TO ME THAT YOU OFFERED VICTIMS AND SACRIFICES FORTY YEARS IN THE WILDERNESS, WAS IT, O HOUSE OF ISRAEL?42 Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?42 "So God turned away from them and let them worship the sun, moon, and stars. This is written in the book of the prophets: 'Did you bring me sacrifices and grain offerings in the desert for 40 years, nation of Israel?42 But God turned, and gave them up to serve the army of the sky, as it is written in the book of the prophets, 'Did you offer to me slain animals and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?42 But God turned and delivered them up to serve the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, Have ye offered me victims and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
 'YOU ALSO TOOK ALONG THE TABERNACLE OF MOLOCH AND THE STAR OF THE GOD ROMPHA, THE IMAGES WHICH YOU MADE TO WORSHIP. I ALSO WILL REMOVE YOU BEYOND BABYLON.'43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.43 You carried along the shrine of Moloch, the star of the god Rephan, and the statues you made for yourselves to worship. I will send you into exile beyond the city of Babylon.'43 You took up the tabernacle of Moloch, the star of your god Rephan, the figures which you made to worship. I will carry you away beyond Babylon.'43 Yea, ye took up the tent of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, the forms which ye made to do homage to them; and I will transport you beyond Babylon.
 "Our fathers had the tabernacle of testimony in the wilderness, just as He who spoke to Moses directed him to make it according to the pattern which he had seen.44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.44 "In the desert our ancestors had the tent of God's promise. Moses built this tent exactly as God had told him. He used the model he had seen.44 "Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, even as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to make it according to the pattern that he had seen;44 Our fathers had the tent of the testimony in the wilderness, as he that spoke to Moses commanded to make it according to the model which he had seen;
 "And having received it in their turn, our fathers brought it in with Joshua upon dispossessing the nations whom God drove out before our fathers, until the time of David.45 Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;45 After our ancestors received the tent, they brought it into this land. They did this with Joshua's help when they took possession of the land from the nations that God forced out of our ancestors' way. This tent remained here until the time of David,45 which also our fathers, in their turn, brought in with Joshua when they entered into the possession of the nations, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers, to the days of David,45 which also our fathers, receiving from their predecessors, brought in with Joshua when they entered into possession of the lands of the nations, whom God drove out from the face of our fathers, until the days of David;

 "David found favor in God's sight, and asked that he might find a dwelling place for the God of Jacob.46 Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.46 who won God's favor. 47 "But it was Solomon who built a house for Him.47 But Solomon built him an house.47 But Solomon was the one who built a house for God.47 But Solomon built him a house.47 but Solomon built him a house.
 "However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet says:48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,48 "However, the Most High doesn't live in a house built by humans, as the prophet says:48 However, the Most High doesn't dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says,48 But the Most High dwells not in places made with hands; as says the prophet,
 'HEAVEN IS MY THRONE, AND EARTH IS THE FOOTSTOOL OF MY FEET; WHAT KIND OF HOUSE WILL YOU BUILD FOR ME?' says the Lord, 'OR WHAT PLACE IS THERE FOR MY REPOSE?49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?49 'The Lord says, "Heaven is my throne. The earth is my footstool. What kind of house are you going to build for me? Where will I rest?49 'heaven is my throne, and the earth a footstool for my feet. What kind of house will you build me?' says the Lord; 'or what is the place of my rest?49 The heaven is my throne and the earth the footstool of my feet: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord, or where is the place of my rest?
 'WAS IT NOT MY HAND WHICH MADE ALL THESE THINGS?'50 Hath not my hand made all these things?50 Didn't I make all these things?"'50 Didn't my hand make all these things?'50 has not my hand made all these things?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "You men who are stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.51 "How stubborn can you be? How can you be so heartless and disobedient? You're just like your ancestors. They always opposed the Holy Spirit, and so do you!51 "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers did, so you do.51 O stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers, ye also.
 "Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who had previously announced the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become;52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:52 Was there ever a prophet your ancestors didn't persecute? They killed those who predicted that a man with God's approval would come. You have now become the people who betrayed and murdered that man.52 Which of the prophets didn't your fathers persecute? They killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers.52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain those who announced beforehand concerning the coming of the Just One, of whom ye have now become deliverers up and murderers!
 you who received the law as ordained by angels, and yet did not keep it."53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.53 You are the people who received Moses' Teachings, which were put into effect by angels. But you haven't obeyed those teachings."53 You received the law as it was ordained by angels, and didn't keep it!"53 who have received the law as ordained by the ministry of angels, and have not kept it.
Stephen Put to Death
 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the quick, and they began gnashing their teeth at him.54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.54 As council members listened to Stephen, they became noticeably furious.54 Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.54 And hearing these things they were cut to the heart, and gnashed their teeth against him.
 But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God;55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,55 But Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit. He looked into heaven, saw God's glory, and Jesus in the position of authority that God gives.55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,55 But being full of the Holy Spirit, having fixed his eyes on heaven, he saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,

 and he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.56 So Stephen said, "Look, I see heaven opened and the Son of Man in the position of authority that God has given him!"56 and said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!"56 and said, Lo, I behold the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God.
 But they cried out with a loud voice, and covered their ears and rushed at him with one impulse.57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,57 But the council members shouted and refused to listen. Then they rushed at Stephen with one purpose in mind,57 But they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed at him with one accord.57 And they cried out with a loud voice, and held their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord;
 When they had driven him out of the city, they began stoning him; and the witnesses laid aside their robes at the feet of a young man named Saul.58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.58 and after they had thrown him out of the city, they began to stone him to death. The witnesses left their coats with a young man named Saul.58 They threw him out of the city, and stoned him. The witnesses placed their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.58 and having cast him out of the city, they stoned him. And the witnesses laid aside their clothes at the feet of a young man called Saul.
 They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!"59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.59 While council members were executing Stephen, he called out, "Lord Jesus, welcome my spirit."59 They stoned Stephen as he called out, saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!"59 And they stoned Stephen, praying, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
 Then falling on his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them!" Having said this, he fell asleep.60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.60 Then he knelt down and shouted, "Lord, don't hold this sin against them." After he had said this, he died.60 He kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, "Lord, don't hold this sin against them!" When he had said this, he fell asleep.60 And kneeling down, he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And having said this, he fell asleep.
