Put On the New Self
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.1 Since you were brought back to life with Christ, focus on the things that are above-where Christ holds the highest position.1 If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God.1 If therefore ye have been raised with the Christ, seek the things which are above, where the Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God:
2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.2 Keep your mind on things above, not on worldly things.2 Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.2 have your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth;
3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.3 You have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.3 for ye have died, and your life is hid with the Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.4 Christ is your life. When he appears, then you, too, will appear with him in glory.4 When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.4 When the Christ is manifested who is our life, then shall ye also be manifested with him in glory.
5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:5 Therefore, put to death whatever is worldly in you: your sexual sin, perversion, passion, lust, and greed (which is the same thing as worshiping wealth).5 Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;5 Put to death therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, vile passions, evil lust, and unbridled desire, which is idolatry.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:6 It is because of these sins that God's anger comes on those who refuse to obey him. 6 for which things' sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.6 On account of which things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
7 and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.7 You used to live that kind of sinful life.7 You also once walked in those, when you lived in them;7 In which ye also once walked when ye lived in these things.
8 But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.8 Also get rid of your anger, hot tempers, hatred, cursing, obscene language, and all similar sins.8 but now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth.8 But now, put off, ye also, all these things, wrath, anger, malice, blasphemy, vile language out of your mouth.
9 Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices,9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;9 Don't lie to each other. You've gotten rid of the person you used to be and the life you used to live,9 Don't lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings,9 Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man with his deeds,
10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him--10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:10 and you've become a new person. This new person is continually renewed in knowledge to be like its Creator.10 and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator,10 and having put on the new, renewed into full knowledge according to the image of him that has created him;
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all.11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.11 Where this happens, there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, uncivilized person, slave, or free person. Instead, Christ is everything and in everything.11 where there can't be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondservant, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all.11 wherein there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondman, freeman; but Christ is everything, and in all.
12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;12 As holy people whom God has chosen and loved, be sympathetic, kind, humble, gentle, and patient.12 Put on therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, longsuffering;
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.13 Put up with each other, and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.13 forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any should have a complaint against any; even as the Christ has forgiven you, so also do ye.
14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.14 Above all, be loving. This ties everything together perfectly.14 Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.14 And to all these add love, which is the bond of perfectness.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.15 Also, let Christ's peace control you. God has called you into this peace by bringing you into one body. Be thankful.15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.15 And let the peace of Christ preside in your hearts, to which also ye have been called in one body, and be thankful.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.16 Let Christ's word with all its wisdom and richness live in you. Use psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to teach and instruct yourselves about [God's] kindness. Sing to God in your hearts. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord.16 Let the word of the Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another, in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God.
17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.17 Everything you say or do should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.17 Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him.17 And everything, whatever ye may do in word or in deed, do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father by him.
Family Relations
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.18 Wives, place yourselves under your husbands' authority. This is appropriate behavior for the Lord's people. 18 Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them.19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.19 Husbands, love your wives, and don't be harsh with them.19 Husbands, love your wives, and don't be bitter against them.19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
20 Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord.20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.20 Children, always obey your parents. This is pleasing to the Lord.20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord.20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing in the Lord.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart.21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.21 Fathers, don't make your children resentful, or they will become discouraged.21 Fathers, don't provoke your children, so that they won't be discouraged.21 Fathers, do not vex your children, to the end that they be not disheartened.
22 Slaves, in all things obey those who are your masters on earth, not with external service, as those who merely please men, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;22 Slaves, always obey your earthly masters. Don't obey them only while you're being watched, as if you merely wanted to please people. Be sincere in your motives out of respect for your real master.22 Servants, obey in all things those who are your masters according to the flesh, not just when they are looking, as men pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God.22 Bondmen, obey in all things your masters according to flesh; not with eye-services, as men-pleasers, but in simplicity of heart, fearing the Lord.
23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;23 Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly as though you were working for your real master and not merely for humans.23 And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,23 Whatsoever ye do, labour at it heartily, as doing it to the Lord, and not to men;
24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.24 You know that your real master will give you an inheritance as your reward. It is Christ, your real master, whom you are serving.24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.24 knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the recompense of the inheritance; ye serve the Lord Christ.
25 For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality.25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.25 The person who does wrong will be paid back for the wrong he has done. God does not play favorites.25 But he who does wrong will receive again for the wrong that he has done, and there is no partiality.25 For he that does a wrong shall receive the wrong he has done, and there is no respect of persons.
