1 "Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which the LORD your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it, | 1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it: | 1 These are the commands, laws, and rules the LORD your God commanded me to teach you. Obey them after you enter the land and take possession of it. | 1 Now this is the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh your God commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you go over to possess it; | 1 And these are the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah your God commanded to teach you, that ye may do them in the land whereunto ye pass over to possess it, | 2 so that you and your son and your grandson might fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. | 2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged. | 2 As long as you live, you, your children, and your grandchildren must fear the LORD your God. All of you must obey all his laws and commands that I'm giving you, and you will live a long time. | 2 that you might fear Yahweh your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son's son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged. | 2 that thou mayest fear Jehovah thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged. | 3 "O Israel, you should listen and be careful to do it, that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey. | 3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey. | 3 Listen, Israel, and be careful to obey these laws. Then things will go well for you and your population will increase in a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD God of your ancestors promised you. | 3 Hear therefore, Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey. | 3 And thou shalt hear, Israel, and take heed to do them; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase greatly, as Jehovah the God of thy fathers hath said unto thee, in a land flowing with milk and honey. | 4 "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! | 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: | 4 Listen, Israel: The LORD is our God. The LORD is the only God. | 4 Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God; Yahweh is one: | 4 Hear, Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah; | 5 "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. | 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. | 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. | 5 and you shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. | 5 and thou shalt love Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
6 "These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. | 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: | 6 Take to heart these words that I give you today. | 6 These words, which I command you this day, shall be on your heart; | 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart; | 7 You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. | 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. | 7 Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you're at home or away, when you lie down or get up. | 7 and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. | 7 and thou shalt impress them on thy sons, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou goest on the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. | 8 "You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. | 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. | 8 [Write them down, and] tie them around your wrist, and wear them as headbands as a reminder. | 8 You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for symbols between your eyes. | 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign on thy hand, and they shall be for frontlets between thine eyes. | 9 "You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. | 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. | 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. | 9 You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates. | 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and upon thy gates. | 10 "Then it shall come about when the LORD your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you, great and splendid cities which you did not build, | 10 And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, | 10 The LORD your God will bring you into the land and give it to you, as he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This land will have large, prosperous cities that you didn't build. | 10 It shall be, when Yahweh your God shall bring you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you, great and goodly cities, which you didn't build, | 10 And it shall be, when Jehovah thy God bringeth thee into the land which he swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee: great and good cities which thou buildedst not, | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
11 and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied, | 11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; | 11 Your houses will be filled with all kinds of things that you didn't put there. You will have cisterns that you didn't dig and vineyards and olive trees that you didn't plant. After you have eaten all that you want, | 11 and houses full of all good things, which you didn't fill, and cisterns dug out, which you didn't dig, vineyards and olive trees, which you didn't plant, and you shall eat and be full; | 11 and houses full of everything good which thou filledst not, and wells digged which thou diggedst not, vineyards and oliveyards which thou plantedst not, and thou shalt have eaten and shalt be full; | 12 then watch yourself, that you do not forget the LORD who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. | 12 Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. | 12 be careful that you don't forget the LORD, who brought you out of slavery in Egypt. | 12 then beware lest you forget Yahweh, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. | 12 then beware lest thou forget Jehovah who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. | 13 "You shall fear only the LORD your God; and you shall worship Him and swear by His name. | 13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name. | 13 You must fear the LORD your God, serve him, and take your oaths only in his name. | 13 You shall fear Yahweh your God; and you shall serve him, and shall swear by his name. | 13 Thou shalt fear Jehovah thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name. | 14 "You shall not follow other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who surround you, | 14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you; | 14 Never worship any of the gods worshiped by the people around you. | 14 You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are around you; | 14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples that are round about you; | 15 for the LORD your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; otherwise the anger of the LORD your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth. | 15 (For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth. | 15 If you do, the LORD your God will become very angry with you and will wipe you off the face of the earth, because the LORD your God, who is with you, is a God who does not tolerate rivals. | 15 for Yahweh your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; lest the anger of Yahweh your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth. | 15 for Jehovah thy God is a jealous God in thy midst; lest the anger of Jehovah thy God be kindled against thee, and he destroy thee from the face of the earth. | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
16 "You shall not put the LORD your God to the test, as you tested Him at Massah. | 16 Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah. | 16 Never test the LORD your God as you did at Massah. | 16 You shall not tempt Yahweh your God, as you tempted him in Massah. | 16 Ye shall not tempt Jehovah your God, as ye tempted him in Massah. | 17 "You should diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and His testimonies and His statutes which He has commanded you. | 17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee. | 17 Be sure to obey the commands of the LORD your God and the regulations and laws he has given you. | 17 You shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you. | 17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of Jehovah your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee. | 18 "You shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may be well with you and that you may go in and possess the good land which the LORD swore to give your fathers, | 18 And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers. | 18 Do what the LORD considers right and good. Then things will go well for you, and you will enter and take possession of that good land which the LORD promised to your ancestors with an oath. | 18 You shall do that which is right and good in the sight of Yahweh; that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, | 18 And thou shalt do what is right and good in the sight of Jehovah, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest enter in and possess the good land which Jehovah swore unto thy fathers, | 19 by driving out all your enemies from before you, as the LORD has spoken. | 19 To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the LORD hath spoken. | 19 You will see the LORD expel your enemies as he said he would. | 19 to thrust out all your enemies from before you, as Yahweh has spoken. | 19 thrusting out all thine enemies from before thee, as Jehovah hath spoken. | 20 "When your son asks you in time to come, saying, 'What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean which the LORD our God commanded you?' | 20 And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God hath commanded you? | 20 In the future your children will ask you, "What do these regulations, laws, and rules which the LORD our God commanded you mean to you?" | 20 When your son asks you in time to come, saying, "What do the testimonies, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh our God has commanded you mean?" | 20 When thy son shall ask thee in time to come, saying, What are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah our God hath commanded you? | NASB | KJV | GWT | WEB | DBY |
21 then you shall say to your son, 'We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and the LORD brought us from Egypt with a mighty hand. | 21 Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand: | 21 Tell them, "We were Pharaoh's slaves in Egypt, but the LORD used his mighty hand to bring us out of there. | 21 then you shall tell your son, "We were Pharaoh's bondservants in Egypt: and Yahweh brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand; | 21 then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and Jehovah brought us out of Egypt with a powerful hand; | 22 'Moreover, the LORD showed great and distressing signs and wonders before our eyes against Egypt, Pharaoh and all his household; | 22 And the LORD showed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes: | 22 Right before our eyes the LORD did miraculous signs and amazing things that were spectacular but terrible for Egypt, Pharaoh, and his whole family. | 22 and Yahweh showed great and awesome signs and wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes; | 22 and Jehovah shewed signs and wonders, great and grievous, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes; | 23 He brought us out from there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.' | 23 And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers. | 23 The LORD led us out of there to bring us here and give us this land he promised to our ancestors with an oath. | 23 and he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore to our fathers. | 23 and he brought us out thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore unto our fathers. | 24 "So the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God for our good always and for our survival, as it is today. | 24 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. | 24 The LORD our God commanded us to obey all these laws and to fear him. These laws are for our own good as long as we live so that he will preserve our lives. It's still true today. | 24 Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahweh our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as at this day. | 24 And Jehovah commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Jehovah our God, for our good continually, that he might preserve us alive, as it is this day. | 25 "It will be righteousness for us if we are careful to observe all this commandment before the LORD our God, just as He commanded us. | 25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us. | 25 This is how we'll have the LORD's approval: If we faithfully obey all these laws in the presence of the LORD our God, as he has commanded us." | 25 It shall be righteousness to us, if we observe to do all this commandment before Yahweh our God, as he has commanded us." | 25 And it shall be our righteousness if we take heed to do all these commandments before Jehovah our God, as he hath commanded us. |
