Moses Given Powers
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 Then Moses said, "What if they will not believe me or listen to what I say? For they may say, 'The LORD has not appeared to you.'"1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.1 "They will never believe me or listen to me!" Moses protested. "They will say, 'The LORD didn't appear to you.'"1 Moses answered, "But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, 'Yahweh has not appeared to you.'"1 And Moses answered and said, But behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice; for they will say, Jehovah has not appeared to thee.
2 The LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?" And he said, "A staff."2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.2 Then the LORD asked him, "What's that in your hand?" He answered, "A shepherd's staff."2 Yahweh said to him, "What is that in your hand?" He said, "A rod."2 And Jehovah said to him, What is that in thy hand? And he said, A staff.
3 Then He said, "Throw it on the ground." So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.3 The LORD said, "Throw it on the ground." When Moses threw it on the ground, it became a snake, and he ran away from it.3 He said, "Throw it on the ground." He threw it on the ground, and it became a snake; and Moses ran away from it.3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.
4 But the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand and grasp it by its tail "-- so he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand--4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:4 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Reach out and grab the snake by its tail." He reached out and grabbed it, and it turned back into a staff as he held it.4 Yahweh said to Moses, "Put forth your hand, and take it by the tail." He put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand.4 And Jehovah said to Moses, Stretch out thy hand and take it by the tail and he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand --
5 "that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you."5 That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.5 [The LORD explained,] "This is to convince the people that the LORD God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, appeared to you."5 "That they may believe that Yahweh, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you."5 that they may believe that Jehovah, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

6 The LORD furthermore said to him, "Now put your hand into your bosom." So he put his hand into his bosom, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous like snow.6 And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.6 The LORD said to him, "Put your hand inside your shirt." So Moses did this, and when he took his hand out, it had a skin disease. It looked as [flaky as] snow.6 Yahweh said furthermore to him, "Now put your hand inside your cloak." He put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.6 And Jehovah said moreover to him, Put now thy hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom, and took it out, and behold, his hand was leprous, as snow.
7 Then He said, "Put your hand into your bosom again." So he put his hand into his bosom again, and when he took it out of his bosom, behold, it was restored like the rest of his flesh.7 And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.7 "Now put your hand back inside your shirt," the LORD said. Moses put it back, and when he took it out this time, it was healthy again like the rest of his body.7 He said, "Put your hand inside your cloak again." He put his hand inside his cloak again, and when he took it out of his cloak, behold, it had turned again as his other flesh.7 And he said, Put thy hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again, and took it out of his bosom, and behold, it was turned again as his flesh.
8 "If they will not believe you or heed the witness of the first sign, they may believe the witness of the last sign.8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.8 [Then the LORD said,] "If they won't believe you or pay attention to the first miraculous sign, they may believe the second.8 "It will happen, if they will neither believe you nor listen to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the other sign.
9 "But if they will not believe even these two signs or heed what you say, then you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground; and the water which you take from the Nile will become blood on the dry ground."9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.9 But if they won't believe these two miraculous signs or listen to you, take some water from the Nile River and pour it on the ground. The water you take from the Nile will turn into blood on the ground."9 It will happen, if they will not believe even these two signs, neither listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take out of the river will become blood on the dry land."9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also those two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it on the dry land; and the water that thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
10 Then Moses said to the LORD, "Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue."10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.10 Moses said to the LORD, "Please, Lord, I'm not a good speaker. I've never been a good speaker, and I'm not now, even though you've spoken to me. I speak slowly, and I become tongue-tied easily."10 Moses said to Yahweh, "O Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue."10 And Moses said to Jehovah, Ah Lord! I am not eloquent, neither heretofore nor since thou hast spoken to thy servant, for I am slow of speech and of a slow tongue.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 The LORD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?11 The LORD asked him, "Who gave humans their mouths? Who makes humans unable to talk or hear? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? It is I, the LORD!11 Yahweh said to him, "Who made man's mouth? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Isn't it I, Yahweh?11 And Jehovah said to him, Who gave man a mouth? or who maketh dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? have not I, Jehovah?
12 "Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are to say."12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.12 Now go, and I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak."12 And now go, and I will be with thy mouth, and will teach thee what thou shalt say.
13 But he said, "Please, Lord, now send the message by whomever You will."13 And he said, O my LORD, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.13 But Moses said, "Please, Lord, send someone else."13 He said, "Oh, Lord, please send someone else."13 And he said, Ah Lord! send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
Aaron to Be Moses’ Mouthpiece
14 Then the anger of the LORD burned against Moses, and He said, "Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that he speaks fluently. And moreover, behold, he is coming out to meet you; when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.14 Then the LORD became angry with Moses and asked, "What about your brother Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He's already on his way to meet you, and he will be very glad to see you.14 The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Moses, and he said, "What about Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Also, behold, he comes forth to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.14 Then the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also behold, he goeth out to meet thee; and when he seeth thee he will be glad in his heart.
15 "You are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth; and I, even I, will be with your mouth and his mouth, and I will teach you what you are to do.15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.15 You will speak to him and tell him what to say. I will help both of you speak, and I will teach you both what to do.15 You shall speak to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do.15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put the words in his mouth; and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 "Moreover, he shall speak for you to the people; and he will be as a mouth for you and you will be as God to him.16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.16 Aaron will speak to the people for you. He will be your spokesman, and you will be like God.16 He will be your spokesman to the people; and it will happen, that he will be to you a mouth, and you will be to him as God.16 And he shall speak for thee unto the people; and it shall come to pass that he shall be to thee for a mouth, and thou shalt be to him for God.
17 "You shall take in your hand this staff, with which you shall perform the signs."17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.17 Take that shepherd's staff with you, and use it to do the miraculous signs."17 You shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs."17 And thou shalt take this staff in thy hand, with which thou shalt do the signs.
18 Then Moses departed and returned to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, "Please, let me go, that I may return to my brethren who are in Egypt, and see if they are still alive." And Jethro said to Moses, "Go in peace."18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.18 Then Moses went back to his father-in-law Jethro. Moses said to him, "Please let me go back to my own people in Egypt. I would like to see if they're still alive." Jethro said to Moses, "You may go."18 Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, "Please let me go and return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and see whether they are still alive." Jethro said to Moses, "Go in peace."18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return to my brethren who are in Egypt, that I may see whether they are yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.
19 Now the LORD said to Moses in Midian, "Go back to Egypt, for all the men who were seeking your life are dead."19 And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.19 Now, the LORD had said to Moses in Midian, "Go back to Egypt, because all the men who wanted to kill you are dead."19 Yahweh said to Moses in Midian, "Go, return into Egypt; for all the men who sought your life are dead."19 And Jehovah said to Moses in Midian, Go, return to Egypt; for all the men are dead who sought thy life.
20 So Moses took his wife and his sons and mounted them on a donkey, and returned to the land of Egypt. Moses also took the staff of God in his hand.20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.20 So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey, and started out for Egypt. He also brought with him the staff God had told him to take.20 Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moses took God's rod in his hand.20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them riding upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt. And Moses took the staff of God in his hand.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 The LORD said to Moses, "When you go back to Egypt see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your power; but I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.21 The LORD said to Moses, "When you get back to Egypt, see that you show Pharaoh all the amazing things that I have given you the power to do. But I will make him stubborn so that he will not let the people go.21 Yahweh said to Moses, "When you go back into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.21 And Jehovah said to Moses, When thou goest to return to Egypt, see that thou do all the wonders before Pharaoh that I have put in thy hand. And I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
22 "Then you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the LORD, "Israel is My son, My firstborn.22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:22 Then tell Pharaoh, 'This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son.22 You shall tell Pharaoh, 'Thus says Yahweh, Israel is my son, my firstborn,22 And thou shalt say to Pharaoh, Thus saith Jehovah: Israel is my son, my firstborn.
23 "So I said to you, 'Let My son go that he may serve Me'; but you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn."'"23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.23 I told you to let my son go so that he may worship me. But you refused to let him go. So now I'm going to kill your firstborn son.'"23 and I have said to you, "Let my son go, that he may serve me;" and you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.'"23 And I say to thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me. And if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will kill thy son, thy firstborn.
24 Now it came about at the lodging place on the way that the LORD met him and sought to put him to death.24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.24 Along the way they stopped for the night. The LORD met Moses and tried to kill him.24 It happened on the way at a lodging place, that Yahweh met Moses and wanted to kill him.24 And it came to pass on the way, in the inn, that Jehovah came upon him, and sought to slay him.
25 Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son's foreskin and threw it at Moses' feet, and she said, "You are indeed a bridegroom of blood to me."25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.25 Then Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son's foreskin, and touched Moses' feet [with it]. She said, "You are a bridegroom of blood to me!"25 Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said, "Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me."25 Then Zipporah took a stone and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, A bloody husband indeed art thou to me!
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
26 So He let him alone. At that time she said, "You are a bridegroom of blood "-- because of the circumcision.26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.26 So the LORD let him alone. It was because of the circumcision that she said at that time, "You are a bridegroom of blood!"26 So he let him alone. Then she said, "You are a bridegroom of blood," because of the circumcision.26 And he let him go. Then she said, A bloody husband because of the circumcision.
27 Now the LORD said to Aaron, "Go to meet Moses in the wilderness." So he went and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him.27 And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.27 Meanwhile, the LORD had told Aaron to meet Moses in the desert. When Aaron met Moses at the mountain of God, he kissed him.27 Yahweh said to Aaron, "Go into the wilderness to meet Moses." He went, and met him on God's mountain, and kissed him.27 And Jehovah said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him on the mountain of God, and kissed him.
28 Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD with which He had sent him, and all the signs that He had commanded him to do.28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.28 Moses told Aaron everything the LORD had sent him to say and all the miraculous signs the LORD had commanded him to do.28 Moses told Aaron all the words of Yahweh with which he had sent him, and all the signs with which he had instructed him.28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of Jehovah who had sent him, and all the signs that he had commanded him.
29 Then Moses and Aaron went and assembled all the elders of the sons of Israel;29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:29 Then Moses and Aaron went [to Egypt] and assembled all the leaders of the people of Israel.29 Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel.29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered all the elders of the children of Israel;
30 and Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken to Moses. He then performed the signs in the sight of the people.30 And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.30 Aaron told them everything the LORD had said to Moses. He also did the miraculous signs for the people,30 Aaron spoke all the words which Yahweh had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.30 and Aaron spoke all the words that Jehovah had spoken to Moses, and did the signs before the eyes of the people.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
31 So the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD was concerned about the sons of Israel and that He had seen their affliction, then they bowed low and worshiped.31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.31 and the people believed them. When they heard that the LORD was concerned about the people of Israel and that he had seen their misery, they knelt, bowing with their faces touching the ground.31 The people believed, and when they heard that Yahweh had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.31 And the people believed. And when they heard that Jehovah had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
