The Brothers Are Brought Back
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 Then he commanded his house steward, saying, "Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's money in the mouth of his sack.1 And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his sack's mouth.1 Joseph commanded the man in charge of his house, "Fill the men's sacks with as much food as they can carry. Put each man's money in his sack.1 He commanded the steward of his house, saying, "Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's money in his sack's mouth.1 And he commanded him who was over his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry; and put every man's money in the mouth of his sack.
 "Put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his money for the grain." And he did as Joseph had told him.2 And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, and his corn money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.2 Then put my silver cup in the youngest brother's sack along with the money for his grain." He did what Joseph told him.2 Put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, with his grain money." He did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.2 And put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his grain-money. And he did according to the word of Joseph which he had spoken.
 As soon as it was light, the men were sent away, they with their donkeys.3 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.3 At dawn the men were sent on their way with their donkeys.3 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their donkeys.3 In the morning, when it was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.
 They had just gone out of the city, and were not far off, when Joseph said to his house steward, "Up, follow the men; and when you overtake them, say to them, 'Why have you repaid evil for good?4 And when they were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?4 They had not gone far from the city when Joseph said to the man in charge of his house, "Go after those men at once, and when you catch up with them, say to them, 'Why have you paid me back with evil when I was good to you?4 When they had gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Joseph said to his steward, "Up, follow after the men. When you overtake them, ask them, 'Why have you rewarded evil for good?4 They were gone out of the city, and not yet far off, when Joseph said to him who was over his house, Up! follow after the men; and when thou overtakest them, thou shalt say to them, Why have ye rewarded evil for good?
 'Is not this the one from which my lord drinks and which he indeed uses for divination? You have done wrong in doing this.'"5 Is not this it in which my lord drinketh, and whereby indeed he divineth? ye have done evil in so doing.5 Isn't this the cup that my master drinks from and that he uses for telling the future? What you have done is evil!'"5 Isn't this that from which my lord drinks, and by which he indeed divines? You have done evil in so doing.'"5 Is not this it in which my lord drinks, and in which indeed he divines? Ye have done evil in what ye have done.

 So he overtook them and spoke these words to them.6 And he overtook them, and he spake unto them these same words.6 When he caught up with them, he repeated these words to them.6 He overtook them, and he spoke these words to them.6 And he overtook them, and he spoke to them these words.
 They said to him, "Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants to do such a thing.7 And they said unto him, Wherefore saith my lord these words? God forbid that thy servants should do according to this thing:7 They answered him, "Sir, how can you say such things? We would never think of doing anything like that!7 They said to him, "Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants that they should do such a thing!7 And they said to him, Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from thy servants to do such a thing!
 "Behold, the money which we found in the mouth of our sacks we have brought back to you from the land of Canaan. How then could we steal silver or gold from your lord's house?8 Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord's house silver or gold?8 We brought the money we found in our sacks back from Canaan. So why would we steal any silver or gold from your master's house?8 Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again to you out of the land of Canaan. How then should we steal silver or gold out of your lord's house?8 Behold, the money that we found in our sacks' mouths we have brought again to thee from the land of Canaan; and how should we steal out of thy lord's house silver or gold?
 "With whomever of your servants it is found, let him die, and we also will be my lord's slaves."9 With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondmen.9 If one of us has it, he will die, and the rest of us will become your slaves."9 With whoever of your servants it be found, let him die, and we also will be my lord's bondservants."9 With whomsoever of thy servants it is found, let him die; and we also will be my lord's bondmen.
 So he said, "Now let it also be according to your words; he with whom it is found shall be my slave, and the rest of you shall be innocent."10 And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be blameless.10 "I agree," he said. "We'll do what you've said. The man who has the cup will be my slave, and the rest of you can go free."10 He said, "Now also let it be according to your words: he with whom it is found will be my bondservant; and you will be blameless."10 And he said, Now also let it be according to your words: let him with whom it is found be my bondman, but ye shall be blameless.

 Then they hurried, each man lowered his sack to the ground, and each man opened his sack.11 Then they speedily took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.11 Each one quickly lowered his sack to the ground and opened it.11 Then they hurried, and each man took his sack down to the ground, and each man opened his sack.11 And they hasted and laid down every man his sack on the ground, and opened every man his sack.
 He searched, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest, and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.12 And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.12 Then the man made a thorough search. He began with the oldest and ended with the youngest. The cup was found in Benjamin's sack.12 He searched, beginning with the eldest, and ending at the youngest. The cup was found in Benjamin's sack.12 And he searched carefully: he began at the eldest, and ended at the youngest; and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.
 Then they tore their clothes, and when each man loaded his donkey, they returned to the city.13 Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.13 When they saw this, they tore their clothes in grief. Then each one loaded his donkey and went back into the city.13 Then they tore their clothes, and each man loaded his donkey, and returned to the city.13 Then they rent their clothes, and loaded every man his ass, and they returned to the city.
 When Judah and his brothers came to Joseph's house, he was still there, and they fell to the ground before him.14 And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.14 Judah and his brothers arrived at Joseph's house while Joseph was still there. Immediately, they bowed with their faces touching the ground.14 Judah and his brothers came to Joseph's house, and he was still there. They fell on the ground before him.14 And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph's house; and he was still there; and they fell down before him to the ground.
 Joseph said to them, "What is this deed that you have done? Do you not know that such a man as I can indeed practice divination?"15 And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine?15 Joseph asked them, "What have you done? Don't you know that a man like me can find things out because he knows the future?"15 Joseph said to them, "What deed is this that you have done? Don't you know that such a man as I can indeed divine?"15 And Joseph said to them, What deed is this which ye have done? Did ye not know that such a man as I can certainly divine?

 So Judah said, "What can we say to my lord? What can we speak? And how can we justify ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants; behold, we are my lord's slaves, both we and the one in whose possession the cup has been found."16 And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord's servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.16 "Sir, what can we say to you?" Judah asked. "How else can we explain it? How can we prove we're innocent? God has uncovered our guilt. Now all of us are your slaves, including the one who had the cup."16 Judah said, "What will we tell my lord? What will we speak? Or how will we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants. Behold, we are my lord's bondservants, both we, and he also in whose hand the cup is found."16 And Judah said, What shall we say to my lord? what shall we speak, and how justify ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of thy servants; behold, we are my lord's bondmen, both we, and he in whose hand the cup has been found.
 But he said, "Far be it from me to do this. The man in whose possession the cup has been found, he shall be my slave; but as for you, go up in peace to your father."17 And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.17 But Joseph said, "I would never think of doing that! Only the man who had the cup will be my slave. The rest of you can go back to your father in peace."17 He said, "Far be it from me that I should do so. The man in whose hand the cup is found, he will be my bondservant; but as for you, go up in peace to your father."17 And he said, Far be it from me to do so! The man in whose hand the cup has been found, he shall be my bondman; but as for you, go up in peace to your father.
 Then Judah approached him, and said, "Oh my lord, may your servant please speak a word in my lord's ears, and do not be angry with your servant; for you are equal to Pharaoh.18 Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.18 Then Judah went up to Joseph and said, "Please, sir, let me speak openly with you. Don't be angry with me, although you are equal to Pharaoh.18 Then Judah came near to him, and said, "Oh, my lord, please let your servant speak a word in my lord's ears, and don't let your anger burn against your servant; for you are even as Pharaoh.18 Then Judah came near to him, and said, Ah! my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant; for thou art even as Pharaoh.
 "My lord asked his servants, saying, 'Have you a father or a brother?'19 My lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother?19 Sir, you asked us, 'Do you have a father or a brother?'19 My lord asked his servants, saying, 'Have you a father, or a brother?'19 My lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother?
 "We said to my lord, 'We have an old father and a little child of his old age. Now his brother is dead, so he alone is left of his mother, and his father loves him.'20 And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him.20 We answered, 'We have a father who is old and a younger brother born to him when he was already old. The boy's brother is dead, so he's the only one of his mother's sons left, and his father loves him.'20 We said to my lord, 'We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother; and his father loves him.'20 And we said to my lord, We have an aged father, and a child born to him in his old age, yet young; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother; and his father loves him.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "Then you said to your servants, 'Bring him down to me that I may set my eyes on him.'21 And thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him.21 "Then you said to us, 'Bring him here to me so that I can see him myself.'21 You said to your servants, 'Bring him down to me, that I may set my eyes on him.'21 And thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down to me, that I may set mine eye on him.
 "But we said to my lord, 'The lad cannot leave his father, for if he should leave his father, his father would die.'22 And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.22 We replied, 'The boy can't leave his father. If the boy leaves him, his father will die.'22 We said to my lord, 'The boy can't leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.'22 And we said to my lord, The youth cannot leave his father: if he should leave his father, his father would die.
 "You said to your servants, however, 'Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will not see my face again.'23 And thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.23 Then you told us, 'If your youngest brother doesn't come here with you, you will never be allowed to see me again.'23 You said to your servants, 'Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will see my face no more.'23 And thou saidst to thy servants, Unless your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.
 "Thus it came about when we went up to your servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.24 And it came to pass when we came up unto thy servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.24 When we went back to our father, we told him what you had said.24 It happened when we came up to your servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.24 And it came to pass when we came up to thy servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.
 "Our father said, 'Go back, buy us a little food.'25 And our father said, Go again, and buy us a little food.25 "Then our father said, 'Go back and buy us a little more food.'25 Our father said, 'Go again, buy us a little food.'25 And our father said, Go again, buy us a little food.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "But we said, 'We cannot go down. If our youngest brother is with us, then we will go down; for we cannot see the man's face unless our youngest brother is with us.'26 And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man's face, except our youngest brother be with us.26 We answered, 'We can't go back. We can only go back if our youngest brother is with us. The man won't see us unless our youngest brother is with us.'26 We said, 'We can't go down. If our youngest brother is with us, then we will go down: for we may not see the man's face, unless our youngest brother is with us.'26 But we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down; for we cannot see the man's face unless our youngest brother is with us.
 "Your servant my father said to us, 'You know that my wife bore me two sons;27 And thy servant my father said unto us, Ye know that my wife bare me two sons:27 "Then our father said to us, 'You know that my wife [Rachel] gave me two sons.27 Your servant, my father, said to us, 'You know that my wife bore me two sons:27 And thy servant my father said to us, Ye know that my wife bore me two sons;
 and the one went out from me, and I said, "Surely he is torn in pieces," and I have not seen him since.28 And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since:28 One is gone, and I said, "He must have been torn to pieces!" I haven't seen him since.28 and the one went out from me, and I said, "Surely he is torn in pieces;" and I haven't seen him since.28 and the one went out from me, and I said, He must certainly have been torn in pieces; and I have not seen him again hitherto.
 'If you take this one also from me, and harm befalls him, you will bring my gray hair down to Sheol in sorrow.'29 And if ye take this also from me, and mischief befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.29 If you take this one away from me too and anything happens to him, you'll drive this gray-haired old man to his grave.'29 If you take this one also from me, and harm happens to him, you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.'29 And if ye take this one also from me, and mischief should befall him, ye will bring down my grey hairs with misery to Sheol.
 "Now, therefore, when I come to your servant my father, and the lad is not with us, since his life is bound up in the lad's life,30 Now therefore when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad's life;30 "Our father's life is wrapped up with the boy's life. If I come [home] without the boy30 Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the boy is not with us; since his life is bound up in the boy's life;30 And now, when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad is not with us, seeing that his life is bound up with his life,
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 when he sees that the lad is not with us, he will die. Thus your servants will bring the gray hair of your servant our father down to Sheol in sorrow.31 It shall come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and thy servants shall bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave.31 and he sees that the boy isn't [with me], he'll die. The grief would drive our gray-haired old father to his grave.31 it will happen, when he sees that the boy is no more, that he will die. Your servants will bring down the gray hairs of your servant, our father, with sorrow to Sheol.31 it will come to pass when he sees that the lad is not there, that he will die; and thy servants will bring down the grey hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to Sheol.
 "For your servant became surety for the lad to my father, saying, 'If I do not bring him back to you, then let me bear the blame before my father forever.'32 For thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.32 "I guaranteed my father that the boy would come back. I said, 'If I don't bring him back to you, then you can blame me the rest of my life, Father.'32 For your servant became collateral for the boy to my father, saying, 'If I don't bring him to you, then I will bear the blame to my father forever.'32 For thy servant became surety for the lad to my father, saying, If I bring him not to thee, then I shall be guilty toward my father all my days.
 "Now, therefore, please let your servant remain instead of the lad a slave to my lord, and let the lad go up with his brothers.33 Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.33 Sir, please let me stay and be your slave in the boy's place, and let the boy go back with his brothers.33 Now therefore, please let your servant stay instead of the boy, a bondservant to my lord; and let the boy go up with his brothers.33 And now, let thy servant stay, I pray thee, instead of the lad a bondman to my lord, and let the lad go up with his brethren;
 "For how shall I go up to my father if the lad is not with me-- for fear that I see the evil that would overtake my father?"34 For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? lest peradventure I see the evil that shall come on my father.34 How could I go back to my father if the boy isn't with me? I couldn't bear to see my father's misery!"34 For how will I go up to my father, if the boy isn't with me?--lest I see the evil that will come on my father."34 for how should I go up to my father if the lad were not with me? lest I see the evil that would come on my father.
