Ephraim’s Idolatry
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, But through Baal he did wrong and died.1 When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.1 When the tribe of Ephraim spoke, people trembled. The people of Ephraim were important in Israel. Then they became guilty of worshiping Baal, so they must die.1 When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, but when he became guilty in Baal, he died.1 When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling; he exalted himself in Israel: but he trespassed through Baal, and he died.
 And now they sin more and more, And make for themselves molten images, Idols skillfully made from their silver, All of them the work of craftsmen. They say of them, "Let the men who sacrifice kiss the calves!"2 And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.2 They keep on sinning more and more. They make idols from silver for themselves. These idols are skillfully made. All of them are the work of craftsmen. People say this about the Israelites: "They offer human sacrifices and kiss calf-shaped idols."2 Now they sin more and more, and have made themselves molten images of their silver, even idols according to their own understanding, all of them the work of the craftsmen. They say of them, 'They offer human sacrifice and kiss the calves.'2 And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.
 Therefore they will be like the morning cloud And like dew which soon disappears, Like chaff which is blown away from the threshing floor And like smoke from a chimney.3 Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.3 That is why they will be like fog in the morning and like morning dew that disappears quickly. They will be like straw blown away from threshing floors. They will be like smoke rising from chimneys. 3 Therefore they will be like the morning mist, and like the dew that passes away early, like the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing floor, and like the smoke out of the chimney.3 Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing-floor, and as the smoke out of the lattice.
 Yet I have been the LORD your God Since the land of Egypt; And you were not to know any god except Me, For there is no savior besides Me.4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.4 "I am the LORD your God. I brought you out of Egypt. You have known no god besides me. There is no savior except me.4 "Yet I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no savior.4 Yet I am Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou hast known no God but me; and there is no saviour besides me.
 I cared for you in the wilderness, In the land of drought.5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.5 I took care of you in the desert, in a dry land. 5 I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.5 I knew thee in the wilderness, in the land of drought.

 As they had their pasture, they became satisfied, And being satisfied, their heart became proud; Therefore they forgot Me.6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.6 When I fed you, you were full. When you were full, you became arrogant. That is why you forgot me.6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted. Therefore they have forgotten me.6 According to their pasture, they became full; they became full, and their heart was exalted: therefore have they forgotten me.
 So I will be like a lion to them; Like a leopard I will lie in wait by the wayside.7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:7 So I will be like a lion. Like a leopard I will wait by the road to ambush you.7 Therefore I am like a lion to them. Like a leopard, I will lurk by the path.7 And I will be unto them as a lion; as a leopard I will lurk for them by the way;
 I will encounter them like a bear robbed of her cubs, And I will tear open their chests; There I will also devour them like a lioness, As a wild beast would tear them.8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.8 Like a bear that has lost her cubs, I will attack you. I will rip you open. Like a lion I will devour you. Like a wild animal I will tear you apart.8 I will meet them like a bear that is bereaved of her cubs, and will tear the covering of their heart. There I will devour them like a lioness. The wild animal will tear them.8 I will meet them as a bear bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the covering of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lioness: the beast of the field shall tear them.
 It is your destruction, O Israel, That you are against Me, against your help.9 O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.9 You are destroying yourself, Israel. You are against me, your helper.9 You are destroyed, Israel, because you are against me, against your help.9 It is thy destruction, O Israel, that thou art against me, against thy help.
 Where now is your king That he may save you in all your cities, And your judges of whom you requested, "Give me a king and princes "?10 I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?10 "Where, now, is your king, the one who is supposed to save you? Where in all your cities are your judges? You said, 'Give us kings and officials!'10 Where is your king now, that he may save you in all your cities? And your judges, of whom you said, 'Give me a king and princes?'10 Where then is thy king, that he may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes? --

 I gave you a king in My anger And took him away in My wrath.11 I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.11 I gave you a king when I was angry, and I took him away when I was furious.11 I have given you a king in my anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.11 I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.
 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; His sin is stored up.12 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.12 "Ephraim's wickedness is on record. The record of the people's sins is safely stored away.12 The guilt of Ephraim is stored up. His sin is stored up.12 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is laid by in store.
 The pains of childbirth come upon him; He is not a wise son, For it is not the time that he should delay at the opening of the womb.13 The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.13 They have the opportunity to live again, but they are not smart enough to take it. They are like a baby who is about to be born but won't come out of its mother's womb.13 The sorrows of a travailing woman will come on him. He is an unwise son; for when it is time, he doesn't come to the opening of the womb.13 The pangs of a woman in travail shall come upon him: he is a son not wise; for at the time of the breaking forth of children, he was not there.
 Shall I ransom them from the power of Sheol? Shall I redeem them from death? O Death, where are your thorns? O Sheol, where is your sting? Compassion will be hidden from My sight.14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.14 "I want to free them from the power of the grave. I want to reclaim them from death. Death, I want to be a plague to you. Grave, I want to destroy you. I won't even think of changing my plans." 14 I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem them from death! Death, where are your plagues? Sheol, where is your destruction? "Compassion will be hidden from my eyes.14 I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem them from death: where, O death, are thy plagues? where, O Sheol, is thy destruction? Repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
 Though he flourishes among the reeds, An east wind will come, The wind of the LORD coming up from the wilderness; And his fountain will become dry And his spring will be dried up; It will plunder his treasury of every precious article.15 Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.15 The people of Ephraim have become important among their relatives. However, the LORD's scorching wind will come from the east. It will blow out of the desert. Then their springs will run dry, and their wells will dry up. The wind will destroy every precious thing in their storehouses. 15 Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of Yahweh coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.15 Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, a wind of Jehovah that cometh up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.

 Samaria will be held guilty, For she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword, Their little ones will be dashed in pieces, And their pregnant women will be ripped open.16 Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.16 The people of Samaria are guilty as charged because they rebelled against their God. They will be killed in war, their children will be smashed to death, and their pregnant women will be ripped open.16 Samaria will bear her guilt; for she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword. Their infants will be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women will be ripped open."16 Samaria shall bear her guilt; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
