| 1 My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. | 1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. | 1 My brothers and sisters, practice your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ by not favoring one person over another. | 1 My brothers, don't hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality. | 1 My brethren, do not have the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, Lord of glory, with respect of persons: | 2 For if a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes, and there also comes in a poor man in dirty clothes, | 2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; | 2 For example, two men come to your worship service. One man is wearing gold rings and fine clothes; the other man, who is poor, is wearing shabby clothes. | 2 For if a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in; | 2 for if there come unto your synagogue a man with a gold ring in splendid apparel, and a poor man also come in in vile apparel, | 3 and you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, "You sit here in a good place," and you say to the poor man, "You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool," | 3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: | 3 Suppose you give special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say to him, "Please have a seat." But you say to the poor man, "Stand over there," or "Sit on the floor at my feet." | 3 and you pay special attention to him who wears the fine clothing, and say, "Sit here in a good place;" and you tell the poor man, "Stand there," or "Sit by my footstool;" | 3 and ye look upon him who wears the splendid apparel, and say, Do thou sit here well, and say to the poor, Do thou stand there, or sit here under my footstool: | 4 have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives? | 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? | 4 Aren't you discriminating against people and using a corrupt standard to make judgments? | 4 haven't you shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? | 4 have ye not made a difference among yourselves, and become judges having evil thoughts? | 5 Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? | 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? | 5 Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Didn't God choose poor people in the world to become rich in faith and to receive the kingdom that he promised to those who love him? | 5 Listen, my beloved brothers. | 6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you and personally drag you into court? | 6 But ye have despised the poor. | 14 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? It says, "Abraham believed God, and that faith was regarded by God to be his approval of Abraham."
