2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;2 My brothers and sisters, be very happy when you are tested in different ways.2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,2 Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various temptations,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.3 You know that such testing of your faith produces endurance.3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.3 knowing that the proving of your faith works endurance.
4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.4 Endure until your testing is over. God is generous to everyone and doesn't find fault with them.5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.5 But if any one of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all freely and reproaches not, and it shall be given to him:

6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.6 When you ask for something, don't have any doubts. A person who has doubts is like a wave that is blown by the wind and tossed by the sea.6 But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.6 but let him ask in faith, nothing doubting. For he that doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed about;
7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.7 A person who has doubts shouldn't expect to receive anything from the Lord.7 For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord.7 for let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord;
8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.8 A person who has doubts is thinking about two different things at the same time and can't make up his mind about anything.8 He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
9 But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:9 Humble believers should be proud because being humble makes them important.9 But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;9 But let the brother of low degree glory in his elevation,
10 and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.10 Rich believers should be proud because being rich should make them humble. Rich people will wither like flowers.10 and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.10 and the rich in his humiliation, because as the grass's flower he will pass away.

11 For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.11 The sun rises with its scorching heat and dries up plants. The flowers drop off, and the beauty is gone. The same thing will happen to rich people. While they are busy, they will die.11 For the sun arises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass, and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in his pursuits.11 For the sun has risen with its burning heat, and has withered the grass, and its flower has fallen, and the comeliness of its look has perished: thus the rich also shall wither in his goings.
12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.12 Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for, having been proved, he shall receive the crown of life, which He has promised to them that love him.
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:13 When someone is tempted, he shouldn't say that God is tempting him. God can't be tempted by evil, and God doesn't tempt anyone.13 Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God can't be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.13 Let no man, being tempted, say, I am tempted of God. For God cannot be tempted by evil things, and himself tempts no one.
14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.14 Everyone is tempted by his own desires as they lure him away and trap him.14 But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.14 But every one is tempted, drawn away, and enticed by his own lust;
15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.15 Then desire becomes pregnant and gives birth to sin. 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.17 Every good present and every perfect gift comes from above, from the Father who made the sun, moon, and stars. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:19 Remember this, my dear brothers and sisters: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and should not get angry easily.19 So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;19 So that, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.20 An angry person doesn't do what God approves of.20 for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God.20 for man's wrath does not work God's righteousness.

21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.21 So get rid of all immoral behavior and all the wicked things you do. Humbly accept the word that God has placed in you. This word can save you.21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.21 Wherefore, laying aside all filthiness and abounding of wickedness, accept with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.22 Do what God's word says. Don't merely listen to it, or you will fool yourselves.22 But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.22 But be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, beguiling yourselves.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:23 If someone listens to God's word but doesn't do what it says, he is like a person who looks at his face in a mirror,23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;23 For if any man be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like to a man considering his natural face in a mirror:
24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.24 studies his features, goes away, and immediately forgets what he looks like.24 for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.24 for he has considered himself and is gone away, and straightway he has forgotten what he was like.
25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.25 However, the person who continues to study God's perfect teachings that make people free and who remains committed to them will be blessed. People like that don't merely listen and forget; they actually do what God's teachings say.25 But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.25 But he that fixes his view on the perfect law, that of liberty, and abides in it, being not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, he shall be blessed in his doing.

26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless.26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.26 If a person thinks that he is religious but can't control his tongue, he is fooling himself. That person's religion is worthless.26 If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn't bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man's religion is worthless.26 If any one think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, this man's religion is vain.
27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.27 Pure, unstained religion, according to God our Father, is to take care of orphans and widows when they suffer and to remain uncorrupted by this world.27 Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
