 Then Job responded,1 But Job answered and said,1 Then Job replied [to his friends],1 Then Job answered,1 And Job answered and said,
 "What a help you are to the weak! How you have saved the arm without strength!2 How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?2 "You have helped the person who has no power and saved the arm that isn't strong.2 "How have you helped him who is without power! How have you saved the arm that has no strength!2 How hast thou helped the powerless; how saved the arm that is without strength!
 "What counsel you have given to one without wisdom! What helpful insight you have abundantly provided!3 How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?3 You have advised the person who has no wisdom and offered so much assistance.3 How have you counseled him who has no wisdom, and plentifully declared sound knowledge!3 How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom, and abundantly declared the thing as it is!
 "To whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit was expressed through you?4 To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?4 To whom have you spoken [these] words, and whose spirit has spoken through you?4 To whom have you uttered words? Whose spirit came forth from you?4 For whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?
The Greatness of God
 "The departed spirits tremble Under the waters and their inhabitants.5 Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.5 "The souls of the dead tremble beneath the water, and so do the creatures living there.5 "Those who are deceased tremble, those beneath the waters and all that live in them.5 The shades tremble beneath the waters and the inhabitants thereof;

 "Naked is Sheol before Him, And Abaddon has no covering.6 Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.6 Sheol is naked in God's presence, and Abaddon has no clothing.6 Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering.6 Sheol is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.
 "He stretches out the north over empty space And hangs the earth on nothing.7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.7 "He stretches out his heavens over empty space. He hangs the earth on nothing whatsoever. 7 He stretches out the north over empty space, and hangs the earth on nothing.7 He stretcheth out the north over empty space, he hangeth the earth upon nothing;
 "He wraps up the waters in His clouds, And the cloud does not burst under them.8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.8 He holds the water in his thick clouds, and the clouds don't [even] split under its [weight].8 He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not burst under them.8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not rent under them.
 "He obscures the face of the full moon And spreads His cloud over it.9 He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.9 He covers his throne by spreading his cloud over it. 9 He encloses the face of his throne, and spreads his cloud on it.9 He covereth the face of his throne, he spreadeth his cloud upon it.
 "He has inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters At the boundary of light and darkness.10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.10 He marks the horizon on the surface of the water at the boundary where light meets dark.10 He has described a boundary on the surface of the waters, and to the confines of light and darkness.10 He hath traced a fixed circle over the waters, unto the confines of light and darkness.

 "The pillars of heaven tremble And are amazed at His rebuke.11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished when he yells at them.11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his rebuke.11 The pillars of the heavens tremble and are astonished at his rebuke.
 "He quieted the sea with His power, And by His understanding He shattered Rahab.12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.12 With his power he calmed the sea. With his insight he killed Rahab [the sea monster].12 He stirs up the sea with his power, and by his understanding he strikes through Rahab.12 He stirreth up the sea by his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through Rahab.
 "By His breath the heavens are cleared; His hand has pierced the fleeing serpent.13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.13 With his wind the sky was cleared. With his hand he stabbed the fleeing snake.13 By his Spirit the heavens are garnished. His hand has pierced the swift serpent.13 By his Spirit the heavens are adorned; his hand hath formed the fleeing serpent.
 "Behold, these are the fringes of His ways; And how faint a word we hear of Him! But His mighty thunder, who can understand?"14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?14 "These are only glimpses of what he does. We [only] hear a whisper of him! Who can understand the thunder of his power?"14 Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways. How small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?"14 Lo, these are the borders of his ways; but what a whisper of a word do we hear of him! And the thunder of his power, who can understand?
