Reuben and Gad Settle in Gilead
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 Now the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had an exceedingly large number of livestock. So when they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, that it was indeed a place suitable for livestock,1 Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle;1 The tribes of Reuben and Gad had a large number of livestock. They saw that the regions of Jazer and Gilead were a good place for livestock.1 Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that behold, the place was a place for livestock;1 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had much cattle, a very great multitude; and they saw the land of Jaazer, and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for cattle.
 the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to the leaders of the congregation, saying,2 The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying,2 So they came to Moses, the priest Eleazar, and the leaders of the community, and said to them,2 the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,2 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the assembly, saying,
 "Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo and Beon,3 Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon,3 "Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon,3 "Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,3 Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jaazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elaleh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,
 the land which the LORD conquered before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock."4 Even the country which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle:4 the land that the LORD won for the community of Israel, is a good place for livestock. Gentlemen, we have livestock.4 the land which Yahweh struck before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock; and your servants have livestock."4 the country that Jehovah smote before the assembly of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle;
 They said, "If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as a possession; do not take us across the Jordan."5 Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan.5 Please give us this land as our property. Don't make us cross the Jordan River."5 They said, "If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession; don't bring us over the Jordan."5 and they said, If we have found favour in thine eyes, let this land be given to thy servants for a possession: bring us not over the Jordan.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 But Moses said to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben, "Shall your brothers go to war while you yourselves sit here?6 And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?6 Moses asked the tribes of Gad and Reuben, "Are you going to stay here while the rest of the Israelites go to war?6 Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, "Shall your brothers go to the war, and shall you sit here?6 And Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye abide here?
 "Now why are you discouraging the sons of Israel from crossing over into the land which the LORD has given them?7 And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD hath given them?7 That might discourage them from entering the land the LORD has given them.7 Why do you discourage the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which Yahweh has given them?7 And why do ye discourage the children of Israel from going over into the land that Jehovah has given them?
 "This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.8 Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadeshbarnea to see the land.8 That's what your ancestors did when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to take a look at the land.8 Your fathers did so when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.8 Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land:
 "For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the sons of Israel so that they did not go into the land which the LORD had given them.9 For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given them.9 They went as far as the Eshcol Valley and saw the land. But then they discouraged the rest of the Israelites from entering the land that the LORD had given them.9 For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which Yahweh had given them.9 they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, and discouraged the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land that Jehovah had given them.
 "So the LORD'S anger burned in that day, and He swore, saying,10 And the LORD's anger was kindled the same time, and he sware, saying,10 That day the LORD became angry and swore this oath,10 Yahweh's anger was kindled in that day, and he swore, saying,10 And Jehovah's anger was kindled the same time, and he swore, saying,
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 'None of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob; for they did not follow Me fully,11 Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:11 'None of the people 20 years old or older, who came from Egypt, will see the land I promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob with an oath. This is because they didn't wholeheartedly follow me.'11 'Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:11 If the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land that I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob! for they have not wholly followed me;
 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have followed the LORD fully.'12 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD.12 Only Caleb (son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite) and Joshua (son of Nun) will get to see the land. This is because they wholeheartedly followed the LORD.12 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; because they have followed Yahweh completely.'12 save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; for they have wholly followed Jehovah.
 "So the LORD'S anger burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the entire generation of those who had done evil in the sight of the LORD was destroyed.13 And the LORD's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.13 Since the LORD was angry with the Israelites, he made them wander in the desert for 40 years until the whole generation of those who had done evil in the LORD's presence was gone.13 Yahweh's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander back and forth in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, who had done evil in the sight of Yahweh, was consumed.13 And Jehovah's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the whole generation was consumed that had done evil in the eyes of Jehovah.
 "Now behold, you have risen up in your fathers' place, a brood of sinful men, to add still more to the burning anger of the LORD against Israel.14 And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel.14 "You're just like your parents! You're a bunch of sinners trying to make the LORD angry with Israel again.14 "Behold, you have risen up in your fathers' place, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Yahweh toward Israel.14 And behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, a progeny of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Jehovah toward Israel.
 "For if you turn away from following Him, He will once more abandon them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all these people."15 For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.15 If you turn away from him, he will abandon all these people in the desert. You would be responsible for their destruction."15 For if you turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and you will destroy all this people."15 If ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 Then they came near to him and said, "We will build here sheepfolds for our livestock and cities for our little ones;16 And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones:16 Then the tribes of Gad and Reuben came up to Moses and said, "Allow us to build stone fences for our livestock and cities for our families here.16 They came near to him, and said, "We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones:16 And they drew near to him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones;
 but we ourselves will be armed ready to go before the sons of Israel, until we have brought them to their place, while our little ones live in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.17 But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land.17 Then we'll be ready [to march] in battle formation?to march[ ahead quickly."> ahead of the other Israelites until we have brought them to their land. Meanwhile our families will live in walled cities, safe from the other people who live here.]17 but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.17 but we ourselves will go with diligence armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place; and our little ones shall dwell in the strong cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
 "We will not return to our homes until every one of the sons of Israel has possessed his inheritance.18 We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.18 We will not return to our homes until every Israelite has received his own land.18 We will not return to our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.18 We will not return to our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited each one his inheritance.
 "For we will not have an inheritance with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has fallen to us on this side of the Jordan toward the east."19 For we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward.19 We won't take possession of any land on the other side of the Jordan River, to the west and beyond. We already have our land here, east of the Jordan."19 For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan, and forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Jordan eastward."19 For we will not inherit with them on yonder side the Jordan, and further, because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side the Jordan eastward.
 So Moses said to them, "If you will do this, if you will arm yourselves before the LORD for the war,20 And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before the LORD to war,20 Moses answered, "Do what you have said. In the LORD's presence have all your armed men get ready for battle.20 Moses said to them, "If you will do this thing, if you will arm yourselves to go before Yahweh to the war,20 And Moses said to them, If ye do this thing, if ye arm yourselves before Jehovah for war,
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 and all of you armed men cross over the Jordan before the LORD until He has driven His enemies out from before Him,21 And will go all of you armed over Jordan before the LORD, until he hath driven out his enemies from before him,21 Have them cross the Jordan, and fight until the LORD forces out his enemies21 and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before Yahweh, until he has driven out his enemies from before him,21 and all of you that are armed go over the Jordan before Jehovah, until he have dispossessed his enemies from before him,
 and the land is subdued before the LORD, then afterward you shall return and be free of obligation toward the LORD and toward Israel, and this land shall be yours for a possession before the LORD.22 And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.22 and the land is conquered. Then you may come back. You will have fulfilled your military duty to the LORD and Israel. This land will be your own property in the LORD's presence.22 and the land is subdued before Yahweh; then afterward you shall return, and be guiltless towards Yahweh, and towards Israel; and this land shall be to you for a possession before Yahweh.22 and the land is subdued before Jehovah, and afterwards ye return, ye shall be guiltless toward Jehovah and toward Israel, and this land shall be your possession before Jehovah.
 "But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will find you out.23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.23 "If you don't do all these things, you will be sinning against the LORD. You can be sure that you will be punished for your sin.23 "But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against Yahweh; and be sure your sin will find you out.23 But if ye do not do so, behold, ye have sinned against Jehovah, and be sure your sin will find you out.
 "Build yourselves cities for your little ones, and sheepfolds for your sheep, and do what you have promised."24 Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which hath proceeded out of your mouth.24 Build cities for your families and stone fences for your flocks, but do what you have promised."24 Build cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which has proceeded out of your mouth."24 Build yourselves cities for your little ones, and folds for your flocks, and do that which has gone out of your mouth.
 The sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, "Your servants will do just as my lord commands.25 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spake unto Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my lord commandeth.25 Then the tribes of Gad and Reuben said to Moses, "Sir, we will do as you command.25 The children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, "Your servants will do as my lord commands.25 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my lord commands.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 "Our little ones, our wives, our livestock and all our cattle shall remain there in the cities of Gilead;26 Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead:26 Our children, our wives, our livestock, and all our other animals will stay here in the cities of Gilead.26 Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock, shall be there in the cities of Gilead;26 Our little ones, our wives, our cattle, and all our beasts shall be there in the cities of Gilead;
 while your servants, everyone who is armed for war, will cross over in the presence of the LORD to battle, just as my lord says."27 But thy servants will pass over, every man armed for war, before the Lord to battle, as my lord saith.27 But in the LORD's presence we will all get ready for battle and go with you, as you have said."27 but your servants will pass over, every man who is armed for war, before Yahweh to battle, as my lord says."27 but thy servants will pass over, every one armed for war, before Jehovah to battle, as my lord says.
 So Moses gave command concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers' households of the tribes of the sons of Israel.28 So concerning them Moses commanded Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel:28 So Moses gave orders about them to the priest Eleazar, Joshua (son of Nun), and the family heads of the tribes of Israel.28 So Moses commanded concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers' [houses] of the tribes of the children of Israel.28 So concerning them Moses commanded Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel.
 Moses said to them, "If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, everyone who is armed for battle, will cross with you over the Jordan in the presence of the LORD, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;29 And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over Jordan, every man armed to battle, before the LORD, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession:29 Moses told them, "If the tribes of Gad and Reuben get ready for battle in the LORD's presence and cross the Jordan River with you and you conquer the land, give them Gilead as their own property.29 Moses said to them, "If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man who is armed to battle, before Yahweh, and the land shall be subdued before you; then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession:29 And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben pass with you over the Jordan, every one armed for battle, before Jehovah, and the land be subdued before you, then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;
 but if they will not cross over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan."30 But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.30 If they don't get ready for battle and go with you, the land they will take possession of must be in Canaan with yours."30 but if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan."30 but if they do not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 The sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answered, saying, "As the LORD has said to your servants, so we will do.31 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As the LORD hath said unto thy servants, so will we do.31 The tribes of Gad and Reuben answered, "Sir, we will do as the LORD has said.31 The children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, "As Yahweh has said to your servants, so will we do.31 And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As Jehovah has said to thy servants, so will we do.
 "We ourselves will cross over armed in the presence of the LORD into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us across the Jordan."32 We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.32 We will enter Canaan as armed troops in the LORD's presence, but the land we will take possession of is here, east of the Jordan."32 We will pass over armed before Yahweh into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance [shall remain] with us beyond the Jordan."32 We will pass over armed before Jehovah into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance on this side the Jordan shall be ours.
 So Moses gave to them, to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben and to the half-tribe of Joseph's son Manasseh, the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og, the king of Bashan, the land with its cities with their territories, the cities of the surrounding land.33 And Moses gave unto them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with the cities thereof in the coasts, even the cities of the country round about.33 So Moses gave the tribes of Gad, Reuben, and half of the tribe of Manasseh, son of Joseph, the kingdoms of King Sihon of the Amorites and King Og of Bashan-the whole land with its cities and its surrounding territory.33 Moses gave to them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, according to the cities of it with [their] borders, even the cities of the surrounding land.33 And Moses gave to them, to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og the king of Bashan, the land, according to its cities and territories, the cities of the land round about.
 The sons of Gad built Dibon and Ataroth and Aroer,34 And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,34 The tribe of Gad rebuilt the cities of Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,34 The children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,34 And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
 and Atroth-shophan and Jazer and Jogbehah,35 And Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah,35 Atroth Shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah,35 and Atrothshophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah,35 and Atroth-Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbebah,

 and Beth-nimrah and Beth-haran as fortified cities, and sheepfolds for sheep.36 And Bethnimrah, and Bethharan, fenced cities: and folds for sheep.36 Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran as walled cities. They also built stone fences for their flocks.36 and Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran: fortified cities, and folds for sheep.36 and Beth-Nimrah, and Beth-haran, strong cities, and sheepfolds.
 The sons of Reuben built Heshbon and Elealeh and Kiriathaim,37 And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim,37 The tribe of Reuben rebuilt the cities of Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim,37 The children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim,37 And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elaleh, and Kirjathaim,
 and Nebo and Baal-meon-- their names being changed-- and Sibmah, and they gave other names to the cities which they built.38 And Nebo, and Baalmeon, (their names being changed,) and Shibmah: and gave other names unto the cities which they builded.38 Nebo, Baal Meon (whose names were changed), and Sibmah. These are the names they gave the cities they rebuilt.38 and Nebo, and Baal Meon, (their names being changed), and Sibmah: and they gave other names to the cities which they built.38 and Nebo, and Baal-meon (of which the names were changed), and Sibmah; and they gave other names to the cities that they built.
 The sons of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were in it.39 And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorite which was in it.39 The descendants of Machir, son of Manasseh, went to Gilead, captured it, and forced out the Amorites who were there.39 The children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were therein.39 And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, And took it, And they dispossessed the Amorites that were therein.
 So Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he lived in it.40 And Moses gave Gilead unto Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein.40 So Moses gave Gilead to the people of Machir (the descendants of Manasseh), and they lived there.40 Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he lived therein.40 And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein.

 Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its towns, and called them Havvoth-jair.41 And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the small towns thereof, and called them Havothjair.41 Then Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, captured the settlements in Gilead. He called them Havvoth Jair [Settlements of Jair].41 Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its towns, and called them Havvoth Jair.41 And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took their hamlets, and called them Havoth-Jair.
 Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages, and called it Nobah after his own name.42 And Nobah went and took Kenath, and the villages thereof, and called it Nobah, after his own name.42 Nobah captured Kenath and its villages. He named it Nobah after himself.42 Nobah went and took Kenath, and its villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name.42 And Nobah went and took Kenath, and its dependent villages, and called it Nobah, after his name.
