Vengeance Invoked upon Adversaries.For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 For the choir director. A Psalm of David. O God of my praise, Do not be silent!1 Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;1 [For the choir director; a psalm by David.] O God, whom I praise, do not turn a deaf ear to me.1 God of my praise, don't remain silent,1 {To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm.} O God of my praise, be not silent:
2 For they have opened the wicked and deceitful mouth against me; They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.2 Wicked and deceitful people have opened their mouths against me. They speak against me with lying tongues.2 for they have opened the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit against me. They have spoken to me with a lying tongue.2 For the mouth of the wicked man and the mouth of deceit are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue,
3 They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And fought against me without cause.3 They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.3 They surround me with hateful words. They fight against me for no reason.3 They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause.3 And with words of hatred have they encompassed me; and they fight against me without a cause.
4 In return for my love they act as my accusers; But I am in prayer.4 For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.4 In return for my love, they accuse me, but I pray for them. 4 In return for my love, they are my adversaries; but I am in prayer.4 For my love they are mine adversaries; but I give myself unto prayer.
5 Thus they have repaid me evil for good And hatred for my love.5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.5 They reward me with evil instead of good and with hatred instead of love.5 They have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 Appoint a wicked man over him, And let an accuser stand at his right hand.6 Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.6 [I said,] "Appoint the evil one to oppose him. Let Satan stand beside him.6 Set a wicked man over him. Let an adversary stand at his right hand.6 Set a wicked man over him, and let the adversary stand at his right hand;
7 When he is judged, let him come forth guilty, And let his prayer become sin.7 When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.7 When he stands trial, let him be found guilty. Let his prayer be considered sinful.7 When he is judged, let him come forth guilty. Let his prayer be turned into sin.7 When he shall be judged, let him go out guilty, and let his prayer become sin;
8 Let his days be few; Let another take his office.8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office.8 Let his days be few [in number]. Let someone else take his position.8 Let his days be few. Let another take his office.8 Let his days be few, let another take his office;
9 Let his children be fatherless And his wife a widow.9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.9 "Let his children become fatherless and his wife a widow.9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.9 Let his sons be fatherless, and his wife a widow;
10 Let his children wander about and beg; And let them seek sustenance far from their ruined homes.10 Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.10 Let his children wander around and beg. Let them seek help far from their ruined homes.10 Let his children be wandering beggars. Let them be sought from their ruins.10 Let his sons be vagabonds and beg, and let them seek their bread far from their desolate places;
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 Let the creditor seize all that he has, And let strangers plunder the product of his labor.11 Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.11 Let a creditor take everything he owns. Let strangers steal what he has worked for.11 Let the creditor seize all that he has. Let strangers plunder the fruit of his labor.11 Let the usurer cast the net over all that he hath, and let strangers despoil his labour;
12 Let there be none to extend lovingkindness to him, Nor any to be gracious to his fatherless children.12 Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.12 Let no one be kind to him anymore. Let no one show any pity to his fatherless children.12 Let there be none to extend kindness to him, neither let there be any to have pity on his fatherless children.12 Let there be none to extend kindness unto him, neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children;
13 Let his posterity be cut off; In a following generation let their name be blotted out.13 Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.13 Let his descendants be cut off and their family name be wiped out by the next generation.13 Let his posterity be cut off. In the generation following let their name be blotted out.13 Let his posterity be cut off; in the generation following let their name be blotted out:
14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD, And do not let the sin of his mother be blotted out.14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.14 Let the LORD remember the guilt of his ancestors and not wipe out his mother's sin.14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered by Yahweh. Don't let the sin of his mother be blotted out.14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with Jehovah, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out;
15 Let them be before the LORD continually, That He may cut off their memory from the earth;15 Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.15 Let their guilt and sin always remain on record in front of the LORD. Let the LORD remove every memory of him from the earth, 15 Let them be before Yahweh continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth;15 Let them be before Jehovah continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth:
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 Because he did not remember to show lovingkindness, But persecuted the afflicted and needy man, And the despondent in heart, to put them to death.16 Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.16 because he did not remember to be kind. "He drove oppressed, needy, and brokenhearted people to their graves.16 because he didn't remember to show kindness, but persecuted the poor and needy man, the broken in heart, to kill them.16 Because he remembered not to shew kindness, but persecuted the afflicted and needy man, and the broken in heart, to slay him.
17 He also loved cursing, so it came to him; And he did not delight in blessing, so it was far from him.17 As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.17 He loved to put curses [on others], so he, too, was cursed. He did not like to bless [others], so he never received a blessing.17 Yes, he loved cursing, and it came to him. He didn't delight in blessing, and it was far from him.17 And he loved cursing; so let it come unto him. And he delighted not in blessing; and let it be far from him.
18 But he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, And it entered into his body like water And like oil into his bones.18 As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.18 He wore cursing as though it were clothing, so cursing entered his body like water and his bones like oil.18 He clothed himself also with cursing as with his garment. It came into his inward parts like water, like oil into his bones.18 And he clothed himself with cursing like his vestment; so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones;
19 Let it be to him as a garment with which he covers himself, And for a belt with which he constantly girds himself.19 Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.19 Let cursing be his clothing, a belt he always wears."19 Let it be to him as the clothing with which he covers himself, for the belt that is always around him.19 Let it be unto him as a garment with which he covereth himself, and for a girdle wherewith he is constantly girded.
20 Let this be the reward of my accusers from the LORD, And of those who speak evil against my soul.20 Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.20 This is how the LORD rewards those who accuse me, those who say evil things against me.20 This is the reward of my adversaries from Yahweh, of those who speak evil against my soul.20 Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from Jehovah, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 But You, O GOD, the Lord, deal kindly with me for Your name's sake; Because Your lovingkindness is good, deliver me;21 But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.21 O LORD Almighty, deal with me out of the goodness of your name. Rescue me because of your mercy.21 But deal with me, Yahweh the Lord, for your name's sake, because your loving kindness is good, deliver me;21 But do thou for me, Jehovah, Lord, for thy name's sake; because thy loving-kindness is good, deliver me:
22 For I am afflicted and needy, And my heart is wounded within me.22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.22 I am oppressed and needy. I can feel the pain in my heart.22 for I am poor and needy. My heart is wounded within me.22 For I am afflicted and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
23 I am passing like a shadow when it lengthens; I am shaken off like the locust.23 I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.23 I fade away like a lengthening shadow. I have been shaken off like a grasshopper.23 I fade away like an evening shadow. I am shaken off like a locust.23 I am gone like a shadow when it lengtheneth; I am tossed about like the locust;
24 My knees are weak from fasting, And my flesh has grown lean, without fatness.24 My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.24 My knees give way because I have been fasting. My body has become lean, without any fat.24 My knees are weak through fasting. My body is thin and lacks fat.24 My knees are failing through fasting, and my flesh hath lost its fatness;
25 I also have become a reproach to them; When they see me, they wag their head.25 I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.25 I have become the victim of my enemies' insults. They look at me and shake their heads.25 I have also become a reproach to them. When they see me, they shake their head.25 And I am become a reproach unto them; when they look upon me they shake their heads.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
26 Help me, O LORD my God; Save me according to Your lovingkindness.26 Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:26 Help me, O LORD my God. Save me because of your mercy.26 Help me, Yahweh, my God. Save me according to your loving kindness;26 Help me, Jehovah my God; save me according to thy loving-kindness:
27 And let them know that this is Your hand; You, LORD, have done it.27 That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.27 Then they will know that this is your doing, that you, O LORD, are the one who saved me.27 that they may know that this is your hand; that you, Yahweh, have done it.27 That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, Jehovah, hast done it.
28 Let them curse, but You bless; When they arise, they shall be ashamed, But Your servant shall be glad.28 Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.28 They may curse, but you will bless. Let those who attack me be ashamed, but let me rejoice.28 They may curse, but you bless. When they arise, they will be shamed, but your servant shall rejoice.28 Let them curse, but bless thou; when they rise up, let them be ashamed, and let thy servant rejoice.
29 Let my accusers be clothed with dishonor, And let them cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.29 Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.29 Let those who accuse me wear disgrace as though it were clothing. Let them be wrapped in their shame as though it were a robe.29 Let my adversaries be clothed with dishonor. Let them cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.29 Let mine adversaries be clothed with confusion, and let them cover themselves with their shame as with a mantle.
30 With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the LORD; And in the midst of many I will praise Him.30 I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.30 With my mouth I will give many thanks to the LORD. I will praise him among many people,30 I will give great thanks to Yahweh with my mouth. Yes, I will praise him among the multitude.30 I will greatly celebrate Jehovah with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
31 For He stands at the right hand of the needy, To save him from those who judge his soul.31 For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.31 because he stands beside needy people to save them from those who would condemn them to death.31 For he will stand at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those who judge his soul. A Psalm by David.31 For he standeth at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those that judge his soul.
